Help with inconsistent solar eclipse article introductions

I was reading over some solar eclipse articles earlier, and I couldn't help but notice that the usage of bold text in the leads seems very inconsistent between the different solar eclipse articles, which really bothered me. For example, this article has bold text in the first sentence, while this one and another one do not. I tried researching which one is correct, which lead me to this section of the manual of style. I read over it, but I'm still a bit confused over whether bold text should or should not be included in the leading sentences of solar eclipse articles, and I don't want to go about making changes to a bunch of solar eclipse articles which are stylistically incorrect.

I suppose my main question is: Should the leading sentence of solar eclipse articles included bolded text that is connected to the article title? For example, there are two possible ways of formatting the first sentence of Solar eclipse of March 29, 2006:

  1. A total solar eclipse occurred on March 28–29, 2006.
  2. A total solar eclipse occurred on March 28–29, 2006.

Which one is the most stylistically correct? Thank you! EclipseDude (talk) 00:30, 21 August 2018 (UTC)

You can obviously get away with following any consistent model from earlier articles, since the MOS has not addressed this definitively.
I would argue that Solar eclipse of August 21, 2017 has the most correct style, since it has the exact title of the article in bold and does not commit the error of using a wlink overlapping what would be part of the title, as in Solar eclipse of March 29, 2006.
I strongly suggest that you do not try to reformat this part of existing articles without getting a general consensus at WT:WikiProject Eclipses or WT:WikiProject Astronomy. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 02:40, 21 August 2018 (UTC)

PLEASE REPLY: For the COI flag

Hi!

I am new here and may I just know why the COI flag appeared on my submitted article? All the infos put there is backed up by third-party, reliable sources.

Please reply.

Thank you

ChristiaKatipunan (talk) 05:30, 22 August 2018 (UTC)

@ChristiaKatipunan: Thank you for reaching out to me. I was not the original person who added the COI tag. Another editor added it, and then Chailugares removed it without any explanation. I re-added it until I could further read over the article and see what is the next most appropriate action to take. I'm going to reformat and reword a few things on the page to make it a bit more encyclopedic first. I will direct any future comments onto the article's talk page. Question from a neophyte

Hello, I made my very first edit on Wikipedia, assuming it would be useful to correct a glaring error I found on the September 3 page:

The contribution I made is recorded in page history as:

20:26, 31 August 2018‎ 2600:1702:1140:4220:432:6b05:c8d3:1d1a (talk)‎ . . (35,473 bytes) (-231)‎ . . (The date on which the US and China signed on to the Paris Climate Agreement was actually April 1st, 2016, and not September 3, 2016)

You reversed my edit and sent me a message asking me not to make joke edits, but no joke was intended. I refer you to one of thousands of sources: [1]

If I made a mistake in the edit formatting, please accept my apologies, but I do believe you may want to consider my contribution again. I'm very much a newbie, so welcome any advice you may have for me.

Thanks.

2600:1702:1140:4220:432:6B05:C8D3:1D1A—Preceding undated comment added 23:45, 8 September 2018 (UTC−7)‎

I sincerely apologize for this misunderstanding. It is unfortunate that the two countries both signed the agreement on April 1, which also coincides with April fools day. I interpreted your edit as a joke/subtle vandalism in this regard, especially considering the context with Trump's recent wishes to withdraw from the agreement and the controversy that has brought. Speaking of your edit, you are correct in that both countries signed the agreement on April 1, 2016. However, they both ratified (joined) the agreement on September 3, 2016, which is what the entry in September 3 refers to. The Guardian also has an article on this. The entry on the September 3 article is therefore valid and should not have been removed, but I should not have classified your edit as a joke/subtle vandalism.
Again, I sincerely apologize for misclassifying your edit as an "April fools" joke. I should have researched your edit summary further. I hope you can understand how I may have misinterpreted your edit as a joke or subtle vandalism. I encourage you to add an entry to the April 1 article about both countries signing the Paris agreement if there isn't one already there. I will also strike the warning on your talk page and leave a note. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia so far, and I hope you continue to contribute. I try my best to not misclassify edits and "bite" new editors, but I'm not perfect. I do make mistakes, and I hope I was able to clear this one up.
Thank you for reaching out to me. Please let me know if you have any further question or concerns. EclipseDude (talk) 07:22, 9 September 2018 (UTC)

edits to KAVV

I was asked by the station owner to remove the comment. What kind of other authority do I need? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Btthevoice (talkcontribs) 22:26, 16 September 2018 (UTC)

@Btthevoice: Please discuss this matter in the thread at Talk:KAVV. The article was semi-protected so new users could not remove the content until they discuss it further on the talk page. Please note that Wikipedia is not censored, Wikipedia is written from a neutral point of view, and edits made by editors who are closely connected to the subject an article are often subject to further scrutiny under the Conflict of Interest policy. Additionally, I advise against issuing legal threats, which another editor who was editing on behalf of the owner did. Making legal threats is against Wikipedia policy and can result in a block. Thank you. EclipseDude (talk) 22:38, 16 September 2018 (UTC)

Lodge 49 episodes

Hi, over here you denied a full episode count request for Lodge 49, but later in the article it says all the episodes have indeed been released. Tnx, 209.6.209.51 (talk) 21:40, 21 September 2018 (UTC)

I believe the infobox is only supposed to count the number of episodes which have aired or premiered on television. Three of the episodes have still not aired, hence why it shows seven instead of ten. I was going by what the infobox template documentation explains at Template:Infobox_television#Parameters, which says that the num_episodes parameter "should only be incremented when new episodes air." I am not sure if releasing the episode on a subscription-only online service is the same as "airing" them. Regardless, the page is no longer semi-protected, so you can edit it if you want to, though you may find it better to open a discussion on the article's talk page or ask someone who is more experienced with TV show-related articles since this isn't an area I am very experienced in.
Thank you! Regards, EclipseDude (talk) 23:33, 21 September 2018 (UTC)

DYK nomination of Donald Liebenberg

Hello! Your submission of Donald Liebenberg at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and some issues with it may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! Yoninah (talk) 00:02, 18 October 2018 (UTC)

DYK for Donald Liebenberg

On 31 October 2018, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Donald Liebenberg, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Donald Liebenberg experienced 74 minutes of totality aboard a Concorde during the solar eclipse of June 30, 1973? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Donald Liebenberg. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Donald Liebenberg), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Hello. Just thought you would like to AXJ to your wiki? https://action4justicenow.com/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1700:8610:6620:B1D7:8C0C:C624:13DE (talk) 20:12, 16 December 2018 (UTC)

Hi 2600:1700:8610:6620:B1D7:8C0C:C624:13DE. Welcome to Wikipedia! I undid your addition of the AXJ link for a few reasons. According to Wikipedia's guidelines on external links, external links should, in most cases, not be added to the body of an article. Rather, they should be added to the "external links" section present at the bottom of the article. In addition, external links added to the English Wikipedia should link to English content whenever possible. I also did not think that the link you added was on-topic or closely related to the article at hand. Linking to websites for promotional purposes is not allowed.
If you have any further questions, please let me know! Alternatively, you can also ask for help at the help desk or Teahouse. Regards, EclipseDude (talk) 20:47, 16 December 2018 (UTC)

Sammy Gravano

I just received your message and I don’t know how to add a reliable source but I got the information from Sammy Gravano’s book Underboss.Could u please change it to what I wrote. Mafiabookedit (talk) 00:13, 16 January 2019 (UTC)

Hello Mafiabookedit, I apologize for not getting back to you sooner. I undid your addition because it did not cite a reliable source. If you do have a source on hand, feel free to reinsert the information with an inline citation to your source. This page provides a general overview of how to add an inline citation. It shows how to use the semi-automated referencing tools built into the editing window which provide a clear interface that aids in filling in references/citations. It is easier to use that than to try to fill in the reference manually, though, if you wish, you can use the {{Cite book}} reference template. Following that link will take you to the template documentation, though, again, it is probably much easier to use one of the semi-automated tools that is described on the referencing for beginners page. I hope that is able to get you started. Please let me know if you have any further questions. Regards, EclipseDude (talk) 20:46, 3 February 2019 (UTC)
