Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Dialupnetwork, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of your recent edits on Vocaloid did not conform to Wikipedia's verifiability policy, and may have been removed. Wikipedia articles should refer only to facts and interpretations verified in reliable, reputable print or online sources or in other reliable media. Always provide a reliable source for quotations and for any material that is likely to be challenged, or it may be removed. Wikipedia also has a related policy against including original research in articles.

If you are stuck and looking for help, please see the guide for citing sources or come to The Teahouse, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Again, welcome.  Atlantic306 (talk) 22:46, 3 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If I found a source (perhaps this?) for the beta studio section, would it be able to work? And the source for Tohoku Zunko was added before I knew the cite button existed, so the access date is incorrect on it. I'd operated under the presumption that since Vocaloidism is cited multiple times (citations 25, 82, 180 are just three of them) in the Vocaloid article itself that it'd work as a source. I'm sorry if this is annoying or too many questions, I'm just eager to add more information to one of my favorite topics! Dialupnetwork (talk) 23:07, 3 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Help me!

[edit]

Please help me with... For this article I'm working on (very heavy work in progress), there's a few things that have no other source really than just announcements from the software's creator posting it on Twitter. I've tried to find blog posts from the developers/publishers as much as possible, but even then I'm still unsure because of the guidelines about citing self-published things (in the context of the "self" being the developer of the software posting about it online). Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you! ↻ dialupnetwork Connect? 17:09, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Software notability is pretty tough these days. It's no longer sufficient to point to the Github repo, a project blog, and some tweets. You will need to find some actual reporting about the program for there to be much hope of having your draft accepted. Those other sources may be used but are unable - mostly because of the user-generated content aspect - to help establish notability. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 20:09, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Jmcgnh Would something like this be usable? https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/dreamtonics-synthesizer-v
And are all sources for the en version of the draft required to be in English? I'm sure I could find a lot more reporting from Japanese sources because it's more niche in the west. Thank you for replying, by the way! ↻ dialupnetwork Connect? 20:38, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, you can use sources in Japanese.
As for the SoS article, I'm not sure. It's a bit too much of a how-to manual to fit with the idea of independent reporting about the program. But it might be worth a try to include it as a reference. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 02:35, 29 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
