Mercy McQueen

[edit]

Heya - Got a Mercedes scan for you when your next online - from this weeks mag.Rain the 1 22:15, 25 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, i'm online. D4nnyw14 (talk) 23:39, 25 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, here you go then - [1] :) Issue 8 btwRain the 1 23:44, 25 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thankyou! What should i do about the Johnny stuff? Its been mentioned by Metcalfe a few times but where would it go? Not worthy of its own section and not relevant to others. D4nnyw14 (talk) 23:53, 25 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Whos he?Rain the 1 23:54, 25 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Exactly! He's Mercedes first love who she met on Ibiza and thats why she is such a slag cos he broke her poor heart. D4nnyw14 (talk) 23:56, 25 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I actually thought you were on about .. you know a jonny. (Well it is Mercedes) That was part of the Riley storyline I think.Rain the 1 00:06, 26 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Mercy doesn't use them. D4nnyw14 (talk) 00:12, 26 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I know, I told you above ^ - Issue 8.Rain the 1 23:03, 26 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Ooops, sorry, its because its in two places, too complicated for my simple mind. Any thoughts on Mercy? D4nnyw14 (talk) 23:07, 26 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It is looking gurrrrrd. :)Rain the 1 23:13, 26 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Anything that sticks out to you? I'm going to nominate it for GA, i'll try and clear it up tommorow. D4nnyw14 (talk) 23:14, 26 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I think the image sizes should be the same. I take it there was no info on Rhys and no more on Russ?Rain the 1 23:18, 26 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'll change them tommorow, i'll make them all 220px. Nope, i wasn't sure whether Russ even needed a section, wasn't any big interviews from either Metcalfe or Manning and what little i could find wasn't great, mostly E4. I didn't find anything on Rhys either. I'm off to bed, some of us have sleep patterns ;) D4nnyw14 (talk) 23:26, 26 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Just a heads up - New FAC noms go at the top of the list.Rain the 1 19:52, 5 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks D4nnyw14 (talk) 19:56, 5 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
In reply to your question - I'd probably just leave it now. You are going to have many suggestions soon at the FAC - they'll advise better.Rain the 1 23:27, 6 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thanks :) D4nnyw14 (talk) 19:51, 7 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'll look in a bit, just been a bit busy. I'll scan for you either tomorrow or Wednesday, have found you some stuff and need to search some more of the mags yet.Rain the 1 23:09, 2 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, i'm in no rush, anything from mags is great. D4nnyw14 (talk) 23:43, 2 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
You ready for these scans yet?Rain the 1 21:52, 5 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, thanks. Was just about to message you, the relationship section on Tony is becoming a mess, who do you think needs their own section? I think Cindy, Mandy and Jacqui. Then i could have one for his three engagements to Izzy, Julie and Tssie if i can find anything and another for others like Theresa and Gabby. D4nnyw14 (talk) 22:02, 5 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'd of just give em ya on DS but ya ain't allowed too - but check there too. When I've sent them before, ppl have taken them for themselves. Anyway, looked through so many mags and this is all I found. [2] To answer the other questions though, I'd say give every single one a section if possible. If not combine minor ones in a "other relationships" section.Rain the 1 22:49, 5 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
What do you mean on ds you aren't allowed, people can't read pms so others can't take them for themselves. Thanks for the scan. Replied to ds message too. D4nnyw14 (talk) 23:12, 5 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
DS support come down hard for posting Inside Soaps because they're both published by the same company. Obviously I was refering to mediafire - I can monitor the number of downloads, and I sent you those scans for Lewis and 4 additional people downloaded. I just like Wikipedia having the exclusive info, not some naff HO forum nicking them. ;)Rain the 1 23:30, 5 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'm still abit confused, DS staff can read our pms? Did you send the Lewis stuff by ds or here? D4nnyw14 (talk) 23:46, 5 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Just finished reading the scans, they are great and will be really helpful. Your DS storage is full too so can't reply! D4nnyw14 (talk) 23:47, 5 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I sorted my inbox out.Rain the 1 00:03, 6 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I was just wondering if you could find a better image for Jessie J, Tom Jones and Danny O'Donoghue. All there images are rather, meh. I hope you can whisk something up, many thanks, MayhemMario 16:40, 16 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. In your recent article edits, you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

I think File:Nick Pickard.jpg is the best one. If you cannot find a source or get the exact episode citation and you are 100% sure he was nominated - then you could add {{citationneeded|date=April 2012}} to it; which may prompt anyone with a source to add, but the likelyhood is low. lol I wouldn't add it myself though, but that is your call. I'm just going to sort those book references out for you too.Rain the 1 20:09, 6 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for sorting the books out, i'll leave it blank for now, one may pop up, i've only really looked at ds and what's on tv for sources. D4nnyw14 (talk) 20:15, 6 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Mailed you a scan.Rain the 1 14:14, 7 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, i'll read it now. D4nnyw14 (talk) 14:16, 7 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I Mailed you some things for Mercedes.Rain the 1 20:04, 26 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Merci, i'll add them in a bit, saw your work on Doug before when i was going to update, the article is looking great! D4nnyw14 (talk) 20:08, 26 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I hope you didn't mind - it is just because I ship Stug so much [a bit too much]. Got plenty more to add too!Rain the 1 20:24, 26 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hahah, course i don't mind, i don't think i own pages and anyone can work on them, i was just saying it looked good. I'm glad were finally get Silas closure, what do you think about HO atm? The students are still in there hundreds doing absolutely nothing of interest. D4nnyw14 (talk) 20:46, 26 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I find the Kane's storyline interesting. I want Dennis and Leanne together. Next week shall be great because of Stug... didn't like Walker all that much and well.. the sixth formers... grrr.Rain the 1 22:38, 26 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Its frustrating how right they can get some things and how wrong they can get others. The sixth formers are non stop onscreen and even George, Tilly and Callum are becoming annoying. The Kanes are great, i love Martha and Lacey and how much they're featuring even though they aren't in the age bracket that Emma Smithwick gives screen time to. D4nnyw14 (talk) 23:00, 26 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I think that Mercedes should be used as her common name throughout the article - but you can certainly do a "Mercedes "Mercy" McQueen" at the start. Well Fisher... lolRain the 1 21:52, 27 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

But what about quoting Metcalfe etc, should i change them all to Mercedes or keep it as Mercy? D4nnyw14 (talk) 21:58, 27 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Ahh - Keep them as Mercy if it is what she said. :)Rain the 1 22:05, 27 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, i'll leave Mercedes "Mercy" Fisher alone for now, it might suggest that that is her common name, i'll wait to see if the GA reviewer says anything, i forgot i'd put it up for GA i've been away that long. Thanks for the help. D4nnyw14 (talk) 11:01, 28 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah sure, if you think you can improve it, then why not. :) I've just found another old Mercy article and mailed it to you.Rain the 1 19:06, 30 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, do you think the new info is repetetive, there was so much i just started adding everything! D4nnyw14 (talk) 19:07, 30 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I think you could split the prostitute info into it's own section now - but I deffo reccomend that the huge paragraph is separated into two or three paragraphs. I think it does sound a touch repetitive - but that isn't because you added all the info [cus thats great] - it is the the over use two words and this always gets me. Mercedes is used 39 times and Metcalfe has 22 mentions. I always go over it after and try to mix it up a little by using either - her character, the character, the actress and she. There is one I think about using sometimes, but does it sound cheesy though? It would go a little something like: "Metcalfe explained that her fictional counterpart did this because..."Rain the 1 19:34, 30 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'll go over it, i don't think so, same with alter-ego that sounds ok too use in my opinion. D4nnyw14 (talk) 19:49, 30 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Do you think the Riley stuff should be moved into the Riley section, i think it overlaps so closely with the Silas and prostitution stuff that it should stay put. D4nnyw14 (talk) 19:57, 30 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I think you are right - the latest Riley stuff needs to stay put for it to make sense.Rain the 1 20:40, 30 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Persona makes sense too, doesn't it? D4nnyw14 (talk) 20:46, 30 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, late reply - It does! Anyhow - saw these two refs - [3][4]Rain the 1 18:31, 3 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the sources, i'll add them later, the Mercy one will be really useful, not sure if its intentional but on the new Doug stuff you added you named the ref Ass Doug ;) D4nnyw14 (talk) 21:38, 3 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Haa - It was meant to say Aas Doug - short for All About Soap. I think I'll keep it like that now. :)Rain the 1 21:52, 3 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sure it was a typo and you didn't just have Doug Ass on your brain. D4nnyw14 (talk) 22:28, 3 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah that too. :DRain the 1 22:31, 3 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Have you heard about Carmel's new storyline? Sounds slightly odd, my first thought was off final destination 3. D4nnyw14 (talk) 22:34, 3 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah and it sounds really good. At first I thought it would be a comedy plot knowing her - but if they go all out and make it a serious issue then it shall be more interesting.Rain the 1 22:51, 3 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I know its becoming far too commong but i completely disagree, it sounds stupid. I have no idea how she could become trapped in a sunbed for such a long time that it'd cause her serious damage without anyone noticing, i've never used a sunbed but i thought they have timers on the too. If she has life burns they'll be gone in a week to prevent her loosing her looks and so make up can forget about applying anything other than lipgloss and fake tan. D4nnyw14 (talk) 23:09, 3 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Well I presumed she might have scarring or disfigurement atleast. Apparently the lamp part explodes in her face. To be honest I'm grateful they are sparing us another Carmel love story with Ed. Carmel should be with Alek.Rain the 1 00:04, 4 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It'll be interesting to see the aftermath and her dealing with potential scarring. It doesn't sound as bad if the lamp explodes and she isn'y just burnt, still think an explosion to the face might be a bit much for a 6.30 soap, we will need to see the explosion for it to make sense. D4nnyw14 (talk) 00:29, 4 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry - but that is watered down rubbish of what I'd like to say to them. These episodes have been okay this week, they are moaning for fun now.Rain the 1 22:14, 5 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I completely agree, i'd say something if i had the effort. The thread has become unbearable, its just pages of moans. DS has fast become shite, full of idiots talking about tits and arses of soap actors and who they want to boink, most people on the HO threads just ship Stendan despite it being an abusive relationship and won't let it rest, its mentioned on almost every page. D4nnyw14 (talk) 22:18, 5 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This [5] has Mercy and Lynsey reception. Have you used this for Mercy too? [6]Rain the 1 00:10, 12 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've used the second source, i'll add the first source in a minute. D4nnyw14 (talk) 13:13, 12 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
How come you changed Decland to present?Rain the 1 22:57, 12 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Duffy has said on twitter, and Emma Smithwick has too that he has been filming scenes for Oaks for a few weeks time, i didn't think he should be removed to returning as he just films when needed for short periods as he is still in school, so he didn't leave the serial he just hadn't filmed new scenes yet, he is definitely back in the next few weeks though. D4nnyw14 (talk) 15:01, 13 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Mercedes' GAC

[edit]

Hey D4nnyw14, I feel bad for how harsh I'm being in reviewing this article, but I think that I'm justified. Please now that my intentions are good, and unlike Mercy, I'm not out to get you--really! ;) (No, I've never seen Hollyoaks, not being British, but I've seen enough soaps in my life.) Tell you what, though, if you withdraw the GAC, I'll do the kind of rewrite and revamp I'm talking about. Then you can resubmit to GAC, and I'm sure you'll get an easy pass. Christine (Figureskatingfan) (talk) 18:06, 10 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, its fine, i didn't think you were harsh. I realise that the article is in a pretty bad state, its just needs a really good copy edit. I remember you saying you were unfamiliar with British Soaps when you reviewed Darren Osborne. I've asked another user to give me a hand with the copy edit already, i don't want to withdraw the GAN because it was in the queue for over 4 months, i do understand why it takes so long for GAN to be reviewed but if i had to renominate Mercy then it could take a while for the article to be rereviewed. Thanks for the offer of help though, i'll bear it in mind. D4nnyw14 (talk) 19:03, 10 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
This is totally why articles need to be ready before they're submitted for review! If you had gotten the copyedit done beforehand, I wouldn't be telling you to remove it now, which is prolonging things even more! Or at least gotten it copyedited while it languished at GAC. The frustrating thing for me is that I recently had an article in the queue for several months, too, and I had ensured that it was ready before putting it there. When someone finally got around to reviewing it, it passed in two days. I try to follow the rule that I don't have more than one article in for a review at the same time, whether it's at GAC or FAC or PR, so the huge backlog at GAC meant that I didn't move forward in the other articles I care for. I highly suggest that you make sure that the articles you submit for review are ready before you nominate them. Ask around for help; use WP:PR or WP:GOCE. Do not use GAC for copyediting; there are other things in place for that. I can tell you that the reviewers at FAC would be more rude than me, and that they'd quick fail it if you used it for article improvement alone. They'd yell at you for wasting their time, and be really mean to you. That's 'cause they're grumpier over there, and mean as cats. But don't tell anyone there I said that! ;) Christine (Figureskatingfan) (talk) 22:30, 10 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I had no idea that it needed to be copyedited though! I'm new to the whole process, i've only been editing regularly for just over a year, i haven't memorised every MOS. If you realised the article was so bad then why didn't you drop a note on my talk page, i could have had it copyedited and then it could have been reviewed. I had no idea about any rule about having more than one article in the queue, some people have loads, i had two in the queue for the last few days. This is a GA, atm it has nothing to do with FAC, i'm not planning to nominate it for FA. If people want to yell at me or be mean then thats their problem, not mine, i'm not going to worry about other people getting annoyed over WP and i can manage not to get upset or be bothered about it. D4nnyw14 (talk) 17:47, 11 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
D, one of the things I enjoy most about WP is that it provides me with the opportunity to improve my writing, and lots of free feedback from (for the most part) helpful folks willing to help me be a better writer. No one memorises the MOS; personally, I learn about it as I use it. For Mercedes' article, I was unclear about the use of contractions in quotes, so I looked it up and learned the specifics. The next time I use it in one of the articles I work on, I won't need to look it up again. I was asked by User:Wizardman to review Mercedes, mostly due to the long backlog in GAC and my previous review of Darren, and I quickly made sure you understood its status. Again, my suggestion is to have your articles copyedited before you submit them, to avoid this kind of thing. And there's no "rule" about submitting more than one article; it's my own personal practice and I expect no one else to follow it. All review queues in WP tend to be long, and it's made worse by editors submitting several articles at once. Plus, my time is limited and I know I wouldn't be able to handle more than one review at a time, since they tend to be time-consuming. I don't expect you to submit this article for FAC, but I tend to improve every article with that ultimate goal in mind. GAC, I think, is "a little FAC", so when I review articles, I have that in mind. GA is one of the steps towards FA, I think. The requirements aren't nearly as stringent at GAC, but that doesn't mean that I as a reviewer shouldn't make recommendations based on my understanding of the FAC process. Some articles simply don't have the potential to go further than GAC, but I can tell you that for some of "my" articles, I started thinking that, but as time progressed and I learned about about the topic and found good sources, I realised that I was happily wrong. And I was kidding about FAC reviewers being mean! ;) Christine (Figureskatingfan) (talk) 20:06, 11 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
For the moment i'll continue copy editing the article, raintheone has said he will help too. If its not going anywhere or is taking too long then i'll retract the GAN in the next few days. I'll fix the contractions in a minute. D4nnyw14 (talk) 21:40, 11 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No, I am sorry, but I did not know that and I apologise if I have caused any problems or inconvenience to you or other editors on Wikipedia. Trovata (talk) 07:06, 10 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Why?

[edit]

My reasons for moving to a new account has nothing to do with you, nor anyone. I am still a competent editor, no matter on what account, and I did not intend to hide my identity, as I moved things for my previous account and edit articles in EXACTLY the same style as I normally do. I have not been avoiding questions, I have simply been busy and do not feel the need to explain myself to people who I HARDLY know! How am I pretending to be a different, editor? When I told you I did not know about moving stuff from my sandbox when I create an article as I have been inactive for a while! Did I ever introduce myself under a different name or did I indicate at all that I was a different user?--Trovata (talk) 07:25, 14 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I am sorry if I have offended you so much, but I have conducted myself in a proper way by following Wikipedia:Clean start and if you see User:AcidBrights also! In future I will no longer pester Rain for scans of articles and he should of told me if he was not happy to help me. All I wanted to do was a fresh start as I have learned to become a better more professional editor over these past few months. Would you prefer it if I did not edit Hollyoaks articles any longer? And btw, I was originally going to leave Wikipedia as I thought other editors were constantly picking at my work, but I changed my mind in the hope I could better myself!--Trovata (talk) 10:35, 14 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Re

[edit]

Well I think I may be able to help a little. In Inside Soap a few weeks ago there was an interview with Joe and one with Metcalfe about Mercedes/Browning storyline. When I get home wednesday I'll scan em for you. Then you can look at where you are at then. You have plenty of reception which is good.Rain the 1 15:07, 9 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I was surprised he hadn't been interview after the murder reveal. Thanks, that'd be great, i should really start buying soap mags but i'd have no where to keep them. After i've added that info i'll see how it is, if i don't feel like it should be split i'll add the info to the list. D4nnyw14 (talk) 15:58, 9 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hey. You've done some good work with Browning's article, it's a shame there wasn't more casting info around. Hopefully he'll do another interview and reveal all about how he got the role. Anyway, I wanted to let you know that the article should probably be renamed Paul Browning per MOS:HONORIFIC. Doctor should still be included in the lead though like Jill Marsden (EastEnders) and Yusef Khan. - JuneGloom Talk 12:52, 25 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Now I thought about this already. I pondered WP:COMMONNAME, but can that really counter it. I just randomly looked at famous Doctors like Doctor Who characters, Dr Evil, Dr Jekyll etc - I noticed they kept it in the article title. I'm not trying to argue other stuff, but did wonder if you had seen anything about fictional characters being an exception to the rule type of thing. If you could keep an eye out.Rain the 1 22:19, 25 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Oooh, i didn't think of that. If other fictional characters do it then i don't see why we shouldn't, i doubt people will search Paul Browning if they were looking for the character, his common name is definitely Doctor Browning. I'm not really sure what we should do about it. D4nnyw14 (talk) 22:41, 25 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
If you are personally worried that the information on Nancy's page may be inaccurate because of link rot - do not worry to much. The writing may be below average but the information was correct etc - I added it see, but that was a long time ago, when I could not structure a setnence correctly. Maybe I still cannot?Rain the 1 21:09, 2 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Ahh, i knew it was accurate i just thought if we had no source it could no longer stay there. I was going to just remove all the development info before i started adding info, i didn't realise you added it so i will leave it. I'm sure you can structure a 'setnence' properly now, it isn't too bad :P D4nnyw14 (talk) 21:43, 2 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
You can obviously make what I put sound way better now. I have actually tried to recover the talktofrank video a few times. Shame about that. Not sure why I am replying in two place either, but oh well.Rain the 1 21:59, 2 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I will go over what you have written and add to it eventually. Is it not available elsewhere? I will have a look for another copy later. I have cut the storyline section down as much as i can, apart from needing to add actor names, i think it is almost finished, if you get a chance can you see if there is anything that can be cut down? I hate going through storylines, i can never make them concise enough. Haha, you have confused me by replying everywhere. D4nnyw14 (talk) 22:08, 2 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Emmerdale

[edit]

You deserve an award/pint/pat on the back for taking on Carl King's article at this current time. Things got so bad across the Emmerdale articles on Wednesday that I cleared my watchlist of them. As I said to Rain, no one gave a toss about the articles until something big happened and I suspect things will go back to normal within a week or so. Did you see that I got accused of vandalism by an editor on Carl's article? Seems like they couldn't understand that the episode was set on the 15 October, it was kind of funny really. I mentioned that he would make his final appearance on Thursday too, but no one could their head around that either. I also wanted to thank you for catching Charity's page move earlier. I've added some info to the talk page in case it happens again, as Tate is clearly her WP:COMMONNAME. There have been page moves and link changes all over the place, but not enough editors to sort them out. Oh, well. - JuneGloom Talk 23:23, 19 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

They are mostly all in a bad state. I don't know how far i will get with Carl, i never add all the info i can find for an Emmerdale article, i always get bored and i don't really watch regularly. Do you watch regularly? - I think some pages Storylines are really out of date but i don't know enough about them to update them. I only have a few articles from ED on my watchlist but i saw Charity's move so reverted it, which other pages are being moved? I missed the message but that editor seems like an idiot. D4nnyw14 (talk) 23:55, 19 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
We do the same thing. I started cleaning up a few articles, like Charity and Zoe Tate, but got distracted by other things. Yeah, I do watch it regularly. I've noticed that some articles have had their storylines re-written in past tense, but I'm not sure who's changing them. I'm gonna wait a while before I attempt a clean up operation, but let me know which articles need updating the most and I'll make a mental note of them. I reverted Katie and Chas' page moves, but I have no idea if they've been moved back or not. I think someone has changed Noah Tate's list entry too. - JuneGloom Talk 01:00, 20 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not completely sure who needs updating the most, Debbie needs updating, there is nothing about her wanting to get pregnant to save Sarah and all the bits that happened in between, Chas needs updating and a few others, i'm not completely sure who else has had storylines that haven't been added, i think Zak, Paddy and Laurel might need updating too. I will keep an eye on the pages being moved. D4nnyw14 (talk) 18:05, 20 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Naming issue

[edit]

What do you think should be done about Jacqui McQueen's surname. I know the credits have suddenly reinstated character surnames - and I did notice that she is credited as Jacqui Ashworth. But I remember clear as day Jacqui stating that she would be keeping McQueen. However, I have just read TV Magazine and it says that next week Jacqui tells Rhys that she wants to change her name to Ashworth. What should we do there then?Rain the 1 16:36, 21 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I remember her saying she is keeping her surname as McQueen too but if she goes through with it and changes it to Ashworth then we should change her name in the article after it has aired, no point changing it now if she hasn't changed it yet. D4nnyw14 (talk) 17:01, 21 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Oh. I forgot to add that someone already changed it last week and that was why I was asking.Rain the 1 18:39, 21 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Ooh, i'll keep an eye on the page, it will only be for a week until we can change it when Jacqui does. D4nnyw14 (talk) 19:32, 21 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Long time, no talk. For the Ride article, I think rthe Daily Star announced the story first.Rain the 1 23:35, 8 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I know, been busyish. How did you see that, i only began it a couple of hours ago :P, i will change it, feel free to change things in my sandboxes if you ever see any mistakes. D4nnyw14 (talk) 23:42, 8 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
And, is Dr B present or past? He only appeared for the one ep, i thought there were supposed to be more scenes but the storyline seems to have just disappeared? D4nnyw14 (talk) 23:48, 8 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I really do not know that status of anyone anymore. Hollyoaks are so secretive, he could pop up in the middle of the crash knowing Hollyoaks.Rain the 1 23:17, 9 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'd keep the storylines limited to Friday tbh - you need to decapitalise (is that is a word) the ref titles that are in block capitals. But yeah, it is ready to be moved - good stuff!!!Rain the 1 20:00, 18 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Decapped is definitely a word, it happened to Maddie. Do you mean only for eps from monday to friday? I wasn't planning on adding anything after then, except tiny things like 'Ste later recovers' etc. I was thinking of nomming it for DYK, i haven't nommed an article for DYK before, would something like "Did you know that Hollyoaks storyline Enjoy The Ride killed off four regular characters whose identities were kept a secret from viewers until transmission"? D4nnyw14 (talk) 20:30, 18 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
A DYK about fiction has to include the real world perspective - so just put "from viewers" in there. Well all the stuff about Pheobe finding the letter etc - basically the article is about the crash. It is nice to have the full picture, but is it really needed. Just be carefull you don't go overboard.Rain the 1 20:38, 18 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'll cut down the plot, and i will use that hook, thanks :D. D4nnyw14 (talk) 20:42, 18 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
One more thing, would things like Maddie's bullying, Tilly confronting her etc. be important? I just watched the episodes again and wrote down everything that happened. D4nnyw14 (talk) 20:48, 18 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, I don't think the Tilly part was needed. Maybe you can go for a GA later aswell.Rain the 1 22:33, 18 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'll go through the storylines now. I hadn't considered nomming it for GA, but that'd be good, all the HO GAs are character pages. It might be able to be expanded on to, with award noms and cast interviews, nobody has bothered to interview Tosin Cole yet - maybe they forgot he was a character too. D4nnyw14 (talk) 22:42, 18 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'm quite jealous at how quickly you got the crash article completed. It took me forever to create Ramsay Street crash. I hope you do nominate it for a DYK. - JuneGloom Talk 00:15, 21 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, i used the Ramsay Street crash and the Great Storm articles as templates, had no idea what i was doing for the most part. I wanted to get it finished while it was still being talked about and i've already nominated it for my first DYK the other day. D4nnyw14 (talk) 00:34, 21 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thought you could mention this in the promotion section - [7]. - JuneGloom Talk 20:50, 22 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Oooh thanks! I saw this article at one point, didn't put two and two together though and realise it was about promoting the storyline, i'll add it now. D4nnyw14 (talk) 21:23, 22 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hello,

I have a question regarding the Wiki-page Rudy Wade: Would you like to explain to me why you deleted the part I added onto the page? It wasn't made up and if you removed it on grounds of using casual English, then you could at least have rephrased it differently instead of erasing it. Please watch the preview as seen on the end of S04E02.

Ally

[edit]

I was thinking - and it is something open to everyone who sees this comment - I have just listed Ally's real name but I think it looks stupid. I am starting to feel as though they are real people. Ally Gorman (born Edward James) is fictional character.... orly? fictional character? Is there any way of phrasing these things that makes it sound less like an opening on a biography of a living person?Rain the 1 20:57, 26 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know tbh, i don't think it should be bracketed though. Maybe something like Ally Gorman is a fictional character... played by Daniel O'Connor. Ally was born Edward James... D4nnyw14 (talk) 21:02, 26 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It is just starting to bug me a little. The same on Georg Smith's article. Maybe because I'm not editing much and just looking for minor tasks. Want me to look for any Mandy stories in my mags? Yeah, I'm bored.Rain the 1 21:19, 26 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
That'd be great, i ran out of online sources. I began working on the Hollyoaks redraft page, got distracted by Mandy though. I can't find many official sources for HO article, would something like this work, for a line on audience, The serial was initially aimed at 16 to 24 year old viewers,[8] although the target audience has since changed, broadening to up to 35 year old viewers.[9]
Those source mention the information so they are ideal. I'll see if there is anything I can do to help with it. I found a couple of Mandy mag articles but I have so many I'll have to look another day. I'll scan them now. Did you ever buy the Hollyoaks book?Rain the 1 22:22, 26 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, nope, never got round to it, my parents would probably think i was odd if i bought a HO book :P D4nnyw14 (talk) 22:36, 26 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Notice you adding an award to Lucy Benson, if you ever feel at a loose end again and become that desperate, any work on this would help. I can't be bothered with it, it is incredibly boring, you would have to be really bored to bother though. D4nnyw14 (talk) 22:39, 26 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I do have all of the Inside Soap magazines with the nominations in accept for one year, can't think which one though. But those lists aren't my thing because I've never bothered to familiaries myself with the table code. I suppose I couuld look sometime. I'll mail you those scans in five minutes, got something for Lucy Benson too.Rain the 1 23:01, 26 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Oh well, worth a shot, nobody likes using those tables and codes, it's a nightmare. I noticed yesterday, we have both begun working on a Martha sandbox, you started long before me though, do you still plan to work on Martha? I got distracted so don't know if i will get round to it any time soon. D4nnyw14 (talk) 23:24, 26 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I did Yes. I need to finish all my sandboxes off. I want to get rid of them all because I have too many. I have some mag articles for her I was gonna use up too. She reminds me of my own mum actually. Check your inbox btw.Rain the 1 23:36, 26 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Got them, Thanks! I'll leave Martha for you then. I don't know if that's a good/bad thing, Martha is an interesting character and good mum when she is being protective and fierce but most of the time she doesn't do a great job with her kids. D4nnyw14 (talk) 23:41, 26 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Keep all the information under the "relationship with Doctor Browning" heading. Then either make a subheading called "Aftermath" or a new section Arrest and trial ... or something. I don't think Jim is a regular, but the source said he was... lolRain the 1 21:03, 3 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think he is either, there was a source saying Ed Morrison is a regular, he appeared like twice, i think we should just leave him as regular for now, he will be gone when Mercy is sentenced, hope she is found innocent. I will get rid of the Lynsey Nolan's murder bit then. D4nnyw14 (talk) 21:06, 3 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I think Ed originally had a bigger purpose - but they rewrote everything. There was spoilers that never made the air. Either way the show is better off without him. What about Kelly being a regular. But Jodie was a regular until they changed their minds. Confusing world of producers changing minds. And sources being wrong of course. Which will bring us to Brendan. Do we believe a usually reliable source? They do state that Scanlan wants to go to Hollywood for three months, but it is still vague. Then they mention the word rumours, and we never use rumours. It could be another case of what happened with Lewis from Corrie. No confirmation and it was eventually proven wrong. Shall we leave it for now?Rain the 1 21:22, 3 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
They keep rewriting everything last minute, it started with Nancy's big summer storyline and keeps continuing with characters just disappearing ala Ricky and Jodie. Leave it for now, probably just wishful thinking on my part. D4nnyw14 (talk) 21:37, 3 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'm going to start adding bits now. I was just having a read and noticed Phil Marquess! lolRain the 1 22:37, 11 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, i'm hopeless with names :P, i will start trying to add to it after i've finished Lynsey, i've cut it down by loads and got rid of loads of quotes in a few days but the reviewer said it would take too long for me to fix, i don't even know what the full problem is, argh!
Ouch. I would have hoped that seeings as it took so long for a review - an editor who did decide to review it would challenge you by placing the article on hold and work through some of the issues. But sometimes editors feel that articles just do not meet the criteria and should not have been nominated. But I wouldn't take it personally as their is currently a GA backlog drive and with awards up for grabs. So having a review in the queue right now is a kind of a double edged sword. I think for parts, it does sound choppy. One thing I do notice is the overuse of the word "Lynsey" more than a hundred times. Substitute it for .. "her, she, the character, the part etc" whatever fits really... The other key is to remember the old paraphrasing rule. If the quotes could be explained better in your own words, go for it. I think that is what he is trying to say. You'll soon know when you have wrote too much. I've gone OTT in Texas' article in the Dexie section and need to fix that.Rain the 1 23:42, 11 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, i've just spoken to the user, they explained their reasoning better and i sort of agree now. They suggested i ask June if she could give it a copy edit, i will ask her but i know how busy she is. I will try to fix the Lynsey problem, i need to improve my writing skills too, the prose is always really bad. I hadn't really noticed Texas' article, but how cheeky was the DS user the other day, trying to palm the blame on to us for creating rumours! D4nnyw14 (talk) 23:49, 11 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I did see that and it was quite annoying. There was another user who vandalised the Home and Away character list and created an a DS thread claiming that Samara Weaving was leaving. Too much time on their hands. I'll rewrite the final paragraph of Lynsey's storyline now.Rain the 1 23:55, 11 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It annoys me when people do that, like unreality TV occasionally does. Thanks, the storyline section is a bit of a mess. D4nnyw14 (talk) 00:02, 12 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"Enjoy the Ride"

[edit]

I understand "Enjoy the Ride" is the campaign's official name, but that does not mean Wikipedia's manual of style does not apply. Words like "the" are not capitalized in article titles. If you disagree with my edits to the article, please make a note on the article's talk page so that other contributors can add to the discussion. The article looks great, by the way, but I believe "the" should remain lowercase. --Another Believer (Talk) 21:49, 10 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough, i thought that it should of been left like it was even though WP has a manual of style, but if it still applies even though it was officially titled with the caps then leave it, it isn't a huge issue anyway. Thanks :D. D4nnyw14 (talk) 23:04, 10 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Oaks

[edit]

Hey there - hope it is all good. Did I get it wrong about Lacey then?Rain the 1 18:20, 28 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hope so ;)! I really don't want her to be gone, but the site has listed her as present again, but the whole of DS thought she had gone, so it was an easy mistake to make. A lot of the Oaks articles need updating, have only just realised that they've slipped a bit. D4nnyw14 (talk) 18:25, 28 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Well someone said that Callum tweeted that she had left. They have slipped and everything has gone to the dogs with IP's ruling the roost with plot summary dumps. I thought you were keeping check of the minor characters actually, last time we spoke you said that you created the list because you were worried we would lose track of the minor characters. Was that the case? Or do we need to find them all?Rain the 1 21:16, 28 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It was the plan to begin with, and then things got in the way and it slipped my mind, do any cast listings list all the cast for an episode? We could look through that and any that we don't know what they did there i could rewatch the eps or scenes to find out. I've just saw that on DS, maybe he was joking (the actor, not the forum member) or she has left and it just needs to be officially announced, either way i think we should wait for official confirmation. Did you see the thread about Lacey having left, loads of posters started slagging of WP, mostly the HO articles! D4nnyw14 (talk) 22:40, 28 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Probably best to watch some scenes back. I did not notice that until just. I actually made a topic about it after I made the Lacey changes. That topic was made after mine, so I was not paying attention because I thought it was a rehash of what posters already said - but from looking over it now there appears to be one person shouting the loudest and from her attitude it appears she could well be the culprit of the recent spate of "-13" being added to characters on the list on here. She kept drawing attention to the Ste changes that were made. I really do not know what enjoyment they get out of it. Obviously a disgruntled IP.Rain the 1 23:11, 28 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Call them up on it if you can prove by edit history, such as how long the edits were there and how long after the poster posted, that it was them. I did it to one user who tried making up a rumour and blaming it on WP, they didn't reply but haven't tried it again. D4nnyw14 (talk) 23:58, 28 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Have you found any of the missing others yet? I think if we did get on top of it, then we could do what I uused to do if you ever get a spare moment. Just search on the TV Guide cast list for new additions and prepare them in advance. Then it isn't such a task each night after each ep. I know with Home and Away in 2011 I just saved all the minor characters in a wordpad doc and updated in one go after months. But that was a mistake because I had lost the will to record anymore down in 2012. Kinda like with Oaks 2012 others table, about July I just got bored.Rain the 1 21:59, 29 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I will do it tomorrow and add Kevin too, i will try to keep up to date too now, i just haven't been that active on WP the last month or so. D4nnyw14 (talk) 22:59, 29 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I suppose you could use the TV Guide link as the source where applicable. Like the cop Sandra from yesterday. ClarkeRain the 1 19:13, 2 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The TV guide links only say the actor and part though, not the ep or any details, probably best to use the cite episode or radio times for refs. D4nnyw14 (talk) 20:04, 2 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Neh, I cannot undo your edit without feeling guilty. So sorry. Because technically it has been reported on in the media, we are only stating a fact - so we should not censor for the benefit of fans who may be spoiled.Rain the 1 22:07, 15 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I understand what you are saying, and i completely agree about censoring, but this isn't the same. If it has aired it should be fair to leave it completely unspoilered, but as it hasn't aired i don't see why the murder part has to be included in the lead, in the article, yes, but not the lead. It's not like we are denying she is leaving, that should be included in the lead but not the death. D4nnyw14 (talk) 23:06, 15 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The murder storyline has been reported and confirmed. If something is mentioned in the article, then it can be mentioned in the lead. A spoiler does not matter - because the only person who would be affected is a viewer. But these articles are for general readers. The only reason you stated is that it could potentially spoil. You know the approach on Wikipedia - fans mean nothing here. It is the same as censoring. Say we covered a homophobia details from me, just incase it upset me. Why should we leave out a fact that just might upset a viewer. Besides, people visit Wikipedia to learn more about a subject - are we not doing our job correctly if they walk away with something they did not know before? PS. I have changed it back to how you worded it on the basis that the lead is meant to entise the reader into wanting to read on - so without giving all the details in one go.. :P Guess why this is a sore sunject? Downton Abbey (which I do not watch) fans were planning the mass censorship on the talkpage.Rain the 1 14:20, 16 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm going to do a complete U-turn and say that it should be in the lead! I thought that it was probably common practice not to spoil unaired events in the lead, but i looked at India Longford, Heather Trott and Frank Foster's revision history and they all had details of their murder in the lead before they aired. I was going to read other Hollyoaks pages to see their leads, but we haven't had a confirmed death in years, not sine India i think. I read the Downtown Abbey debate, that was a bit ridiculous, not spoilering someting incase somebody was behind in their viewing. D4nnyw14 (talk) 15:58, 16 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
There was a reason "Kilkelly later reported that Silas would escape from hospital and hold Texas captive in her flat" was seperate from the the rest of the paragraph. It was the start of the next one, at the time it was to ensure I add the rest of the info. I think it is safe to say it did not work ... some 5 months later lol!Rain the 1 16:53, 16 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Ah! Didn't realise, i thought it was accidental, are you planning on trying to get Texas to GA? I need to keep a closer eye on the HO articles, yesterday i reverted like 3 days worth of vandal shite. Esther's article keeps having huge storyline dumps, although some of the stuff you reverted was me, when you reverted it i realised how inconcise i had been. I need to start being more concise with info, but i haven't been editing much lately so keep forgetting. I did like the IPs line about "Esther then finds a liver and lives.", no idea why but it made me laugh. I'm planning on working on Mitzeee's article, not sure how far i'll get though, should the section 'Stalker and prison life' be renamed to something like 'feud with Mercedes McQueen', that way it can include the whole stabbing and trial. D4nnyw14 (talk) 00:44, 17 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I did not realise I removed some of your updates. I just saw the mention of the wedding bus crash and thought it was that IP that added it to every article, even Annalise! (I noticed she quit rather than being axed too) And with all the massive storyline additions - arg. Mind you, they are wasting their own time typing out massive paragraphs, so the jokes on them. I am not sure, GA reviews take so long to occur, that when they do, I couldn't care less. Plus there are so many people just quick passing or failing that it does not feel very rewarding. I do have plenty more information to add though, so we will see. Not sure about Mitzeee's sections.Rain the 1 01:23, 17 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, my updates were far too long anyway. Gutted Annalise quit, but if she wasn't axed she could always return, although she might not have done enough to warrant a return. I know what you mean, seems like a lot of effort nominating for GA. Have you seen this: [10], so she quit HO to end up on a talent show, she has a good voice though. D4nnyw14 (talk) 01:31, 17 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for linking me to that. She did get a role in the ITV drama Marquess created last year. And I hope she does well, would have prefered her on the X-Factor, The Voice is boring.Rain the 1 01:40, 17 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The spinning chairs were good, but they began to get boring towards the end. The Voice is probably seen as being more reputable though, less headline grabbing. D4nnyw14 (talk) 01:45, 17 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding your Alisha BaileyTalk:Alisha Daniels move request

[edit]

Hi,

I don't know if you realized you did this, but did you know that you requested the article page Alisha Bailey be moved to the talk page Talk:Alisha Daniels? By what you said in your reasoning, I think you mean to request Talk:Alisha Bailey be moved to Talk:Alisha Daniels. Anyways, since it looks like that was what was supposed to happen, I'm going to request that move be done in Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests‎ since it's completely technical in nature, and I see it needs to be done as well. Being Human characters

[edit]

Saw your message - thanks. Sounds good. If you hadn't seen this already, please note that there's already an Annie Sawyer page in existence which can serve as a template. We should use that rather than have a diverse set of approaches, and make the necessary changes to all pages. I guess it's also worth starting with a basic cut'n'paste from the existing "characters" page and then developing that - no point in wasting the good work done by others. I agree with you on starting with the main characters. - Dann Chinn (talk) 23:03, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Oaks 2013

[edit]

Hello. Will you be able to help with the Oaks 2013 list? It has slipped again. The bad thing is, when did Trudy first appear on-screen? lolRain the 1 00:55, 28 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

HEY! Good to hear from you. Well half of the time I cannot be bothered to add new characters to the list. Looking forward to Oaks later and the new stunt they have lined up. Cannot predict who is going to go next though.Rain the 1 22:58, 30 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I know, becomes tiresome adding bit part non entities. I'm guessing Tilly or Callum might be a later death, unfortunately. Apparently Jade goes a bit psycho and kills someone. Hopefully the explosion will just kill Will, Dennis and a couple of others i don't like, but i'm guessing Doug, Leanne and maybe someone a bit unexpected, like Sienna or Theresa. Could also see Trevor and Jim having a shelf life, and maybe Vincent too, people seem to hate the actor. How about Sandy being Darren's mum! Reminds me i'd like to update his page, if i get chance. D4nnyw14 (talk) 23:14, 30 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
People reckon the bang is at Ste and Martha's block of flats for some reason. I do not want Doug to go, but I have a horrible feeling. But if Dodger and Will it will be great. Callum is looking likely to be the one to in Later because Holly is meant to be grieving after. Trevor is only a guest character so no idea what will happen there.Rain the 1 23:19, 30 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I like Doug, but Stug is a dead horse and isn't doing him any favours, so i can see him going, especially with him being on screen again a few weeks before the explosion. I hope Martha is safe too, she's possibly losing Callum and Ash, and Lacey is gone. Hopefully Callum survives and the spoiler is to throw people off, maybe Tilly will be the one to go, rather her than Callum, she treated Esther horribly with Jen. I still quite like Dodger, but once Sienna and Patrick are gone there will be nothing left for him, and they both have shelf lives. D4nnyw14 (talk) 23:23, 30 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I think you can - but be selective with what you use - if a better website has the same info, go with them.Rain the 1 16:56, 13 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Will do, thanks, i always try to use different sources for info, instead of just getting everything from DS as would be easiest. D4nnyw14 (talk) 18:37, 13 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I actually thought it was really good. If you mean Clare then I was not shocked - yes at her exit because I did not think they would kill her off. But she was listed at the bottom of the credits when she returned again so my anger came then.Rain the 1 00:02, 16 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm gutted and furious that Clare was killed off, and the way she was killed off, by Doctor Browning, who even killed Lynsey. Was slightly sad at Doug's death too, not at all bothered about Ash or Doctor Brownings, just hope Leanne survives and would even accept a resurrection for Clare. D4nnyw14 (talk) 00:06, 16 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
They seem fine too me. If Yahoo! think it is good enough to host - freelance or employed it doesn't matter. They host it as a feature. Besides, I had this thought before - not sure where but I have used her before.Rain the 1 23:34, 18 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'll add that, and a few other bits i've got, then the Later article should be good to go. Might need a tidy up first, so out of practice. D4nnyw14 (talk) 23:46, 18 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:LaurenValentine.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement.
