[edit]

On your subpage (User:Crcarey/be bold) you said you didn't know how to make a link bold. Here's how (all of this will work with italics () as well):

[edit]
[edit]

You do it by putting the bold code () before the link example.
It should look like this: example, and that will generate the following; example.

[edit]

In order to bold certain parts of a link, you do this: example
That will generate this: example. As you can see, it only bolded the "exa" bit of the link.

[edit]

First you need to get the link, for this I'll just use http://www.example.com .
Put the link in by doing . To make it bold, do the same as above; put around the link so it looks like '
That will generate this: [1]

[edit]

Naming an external link is done by doing the following: example.
That will generate: example

[edit]

This is done the same was as an internal link, by putting the bold code () where you want it bolded.
Like this: example.
That will generate: example

@Anarchyte: Thank you! I am new here and this was super helpful! I am not sure what the etiquette is for responding to a post like this but I really appreciate the assistance!Crcarey (talk) 04:23, 29 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Crcarey! I'm Vivian, and I'm (waitlisted for) Order & Violence (which is also why I think I can't join the course?). Either way, this is me introducing myself to you as part of the first homework assignment. See you tomorrow! -Vivianliu94 (talk) 04:43, 1 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sandbox

[edit]

Please move Impact of Western European colonialism and colonisation/sandbox to your own sandbox. -- TOW  23:54, 17 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Tow: Hi, thanks for the feedback. I was trying to create a separate sand box page as described on About the Sandbox. It says, "If you want more sandboxes then make a page in your userspace and designate it as your sandbox. Unlike your primary sandbox, Wikipedia does not automatically keep a way to link to these, so be sure to bookmark it or otherwise have links on your userpage which go to your other sandboxes." Please let me know if I've done this incorrectly, and I am happy to change it. Thanks! Crcarey (talk) 00:34, 18 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I think you might have wanted to create something like User:Crcarey/sandbox/Impact of Western European colonialism and colonisation. Let me know if you need further help. -- TOW  00:41, 18 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Tow: That is exactly what I wanted to do. I've created a new Sandbox page and requested the deletion of the other page. Thank you for your help! Crcarey (talk) 00:52, 18 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Perfect. -- TOW  01:01, 18 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Impact of Western European colonialism and colonisation, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Congo and King Leopold. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
