Was looking for the source for the Lineage to the Air Armament Center which was added on August 10th. Was about to write the AF Historical Research Agency with regards to it. Where did you find it please? Thank you :) Bwmoll3 (talk) 18:40, 16 August 2012 (UTC)

Does someone know how to fix the ragged edges of the right side of the table at List of MAJCOM wings of the United States Air Force? Buckshot06 (talk) 04:15, 24 August 2012 (UTC)
- Yeah, that's a table formatting issue. It'll take me some time, but I can fix that. Dru of Id (talk) 04:42, 24 August 2012 (UTC)
- Done. Knowing to search for |||| to remove two, and adding two for each missing block per line is almost all of it, it's just tedious. I've seen you too, although I don't remember where. It's done for now. Good luck. Dru of Id (talk) 05:35, 24 August 2012 (UTC)

German Air Force
I have started the split: in the future under German Air Force one will find the current German Air Force, while under Luftwaffe the 1935-1946 Luftwaffe can be found (thus we don't have to change all links that go to Luftwaffe). I have done half the work for now, in a few hours I will have translated the rest of the German wikipedia article about the current Luftwaffe and will then go through all the links... Also I will merge Luftwaffe with History of the Luftwaffe (1933–1945) and then delete that unnecessary article. noclador (talk) 17:14, 30 August 2012 (UTC)
- update:
- I have worked through all the links at German Air Force
- I am currently translating from German to English
- I have begun to correct the obvious links at Luftwaffe
- What still needs to be done is:
- to merge Luftwaffe with History of the Luftwaffe (1933–1945)
- and afterwards to change the links in about 400 articles from Luftwaffe to a direct link with just Luftwaffe.
- Do we have a bot that could automatically work through the last point? noclador (talk) 21:00, 30 August 2012 (UTC)

Anthony Beevor
(copied from User:Nick-D/reviews) Nick excuse me for intruding here, but can we really describe Beevor as a historian? He writes populist books about military history, which is slightly different, and I'm not sure he has any post-grad qualifications in history at all. Just wanted to note that so you could think about it. Cheers Buckshot06 (talk) 03:32, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Buckshot, there are no problems with commenting there, but I've moved the discussion here so it doesn't get in the way of what I write about the conference - I hope that's OK. Are there any serious suggestions that Beevor's not a historian? The AWM regards him as such [1] as do others, and his books are generally well regarded - though they're generally not ground breaking. According to his website, he's a Visiting Professor at the School of History, Classics and Archaeology at Birkbeck College, University of London and has won several awards for writing history books. As far as I'm aware, the only writers of non-fiction historical works who aren't generally accorded the title of 'historian' are people like David Irving who make things up. Cheers. Nick-D (talk) 08:58, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
- Don't worry about moving it - that was completely up to you; your userspace, and I was intruding. What the AWM's publicity people say on their website is not necessirily what the AWM's historians would say if you asked them privately. Just because he's been made a *Visiting* professor after writing a lot of books that sold well, as opposed to being proper historical scholarship, doesn't really mean anything. However, just wanted to raise this with you - I'm not going to get excited about it. Cheers Buckshot06 (talk) 09:04, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
- Yeah, I take your point. Beevor doesn't have academic qualifications as a historian, and a visiting professorship is clearly an honorific (though I presume that a university like that wouldn't present this to someone considered unreliable). I have to confess to being rather fond of his books (the recent one on Normandy is particularly good). Cheers, Nick-D (talk) 09:11, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
- That's at the core of my unease: *he doesn't have academic qualifications as a historian*. He may write interesting books, but that doesn't make him a historian. Whether you wish to change the wordings based on that nit-picking point is up to you. Did you see my note about Pacific Ocean Areas? Buckshot06 (talk) 09:19, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
- I think that I'll leave it as-is as it's how he's generally regarded. Sorry for not replying to the POA post; I'm not sure that any Australian forces served under this commend (at least after early 1942). Hawkeye would know. Cheers, Nick-D (talk) 10:56, 17 September 2012 (UTC)

List of MAJOM Wings
To date, most of what I have done on the List of MAJCOM wings of the United States Air Force has been adding information or fairly minor edits. I am proposing a fairly major edit of the narrative section on MAJCON wings, including splitting the section. I have posted this change on the talk page. I am sending this note to the four of you because the Article History indicates you are the other major contributors to the page and some of the editing may impact what you have done previously. Some of you have been editing for a long time and probably have pretty cluttered watchlists (and I’m not sure if one of you is still actively editing), so I’m posting this on your talk page, too. With this change (and your suggestions) added, I think the page will be ripe for assessment. Lineagegeek (talk) 13:30, 18 September 2012 (UTC)

2010 Polish Air Force Tu-154 crash
Hi Buckshot, I've just stumbled across your involvement as an admin on this article's talk page (via following some of Noclador's recent edits). From skimming that discussion, I think that you'd be justified in invoking the Eastern European-related (WP:ARBEE) general sanctions, and possibly placing the article under discretionary sanctions given that Polish-Russian tensions appear to underpin much of the dispute. Regards, Nick-D (talk) 09:49, 8 October 2012 (UTC)
List of current Russian Navy ships
Hi, I have problem at page List of current Russian Navy ships with user AktiNo (talk). He make too much unrefered changes last time and much of them is wrong or unverifiable for me - in all cases unrefered... I try to write him to his talk page twice, but no reaction from his side. What I can do with this? --Hornet24 (talk) 04:12, 8 October 2012 (UTC)
- Hmmm... I think lock of theme for two weeks is relatively unlucky idea - here is still some unreferenced and unverifiable changes and lot of other work at auxiliary ships is still not be completed :( I must make them to Word and then put them inside - but maybe it is better then checking and fixing lot of changes... Question - if consensus is find earlier, can you then unlock theme or is need to wait whole two weeks? --Hornet24 (talk) 10:04, 8 October 2012 (UTC)
- Of course I'd unlock this earlier. Buckshot06 (talk) 06:13, 10 October 2012 (UTC)
- THX for satisfying information. But AktiNo evidently don´t read messages or doesn´t want to comment that, because he have some more editation on other pages --Hornet24 (talk) 10:06, 10 October 2012 (UTC)
- Of course I'd unlock this earlier. Buckshot06 (talk) 06:13, 10 October 2012 (UTC)

British infantry brigades
OK, I'll add them to 'Infantry Brigades of the British Army in World War II' - can't do any harm, but the category is hardly used compared with 'Brigades of the British Army in World War II'. Regards, Rickfive (talk) 12:48, 12 October 2012 (UTC)
- Normally I would agree about keeping WWI and WWII brigades (and earlier and later users of the numbers) together in a single article, but the WWII 38th was Irish (regular battalions), whereas WWI 38th was a Lancashire brigade (Kitchener 'New Army' battalions) - two very distinct cultures, with no lineal link between the two uses of the number. Hi, two weeks are almost gone and AktiNo still don't react to unreferenced changes - what will be next step? I don´t want cut off him from the possibility of changes - sometimes he have good insights - but in most cases they must be checked because have no reference :( --Hornet24 (talk) 04:39, 19 October 2012 (UTC)
Brigades of the British Army
Re Category:Brigades of the British Army in the First World War, I have proposed Category:Brigades of the British Army in World War I as the usual format Hugo999 (talk) 13:43, 20 October 2012 (UTC). Further comment: The parent category Category:Military units and formations of the British Army in World War I and other subcategories of it use “World War I” not “First World War”; as does the subcategory Category:Infantry brigades of the British Army in World War I. The only exceptions are this category (Brigades etc) and Category:Battalions of the British Army in the First World War. Similarly for World War II the British category (and subcategories) is Category:Military units and formations of the British Army in World War II, though there is one article (not category) called British Armoured formations of the Second World War. But put it to a full discussion, and perhaps propose to change all the British categories? Hugo999 (talk) 23:00, 20 October 2012 (UTC). Done for full discussion Hugo999 (talk) 02:08, 22 October 2012 (UTC)

2010 Polish Air Force Tu-154 crash
On November 2, you fully protected 2010 Polish Air Force Tu-154 crash for 3 months due to ongoing edit warring. I have just blocked User: Voyt13 indefinitely, for continuing his battleground, WP:NOTHERE attitude on the article's talk page during protection. Looking over the history, it appears that most of the recent problems were the result of Voyt13; as such, User:N491BH has requested on my talk page that the protection be dropped to long term or indefinite semi-protection (that still keeps out any socking problems). This seems like a reasonable suggestion to me. Do you concur as the protecting admin? Qwyrxian (talk) 01:59, 9 November 2012 (UTC)

Bugle interview
Hi Buckshot. The Bugle runs a semi-regular interview series where we ask various editors to discuss a particular topic. Our next interview aims to bring together editors working in areas of military history that are perhaps under-represented in the English Wikipedia, for instance African history. Would you mind adding your views to the questions here? Our goal is to despatch this edition prior to Christmas, so if you can respond in the next two weeks, that'd be great. Thanks/cheers, Ian Rose (talk) 11:30, 6 December 2012 (UTC)

Ayers Kaserne
Hello Buckshot06,
Request you delete the redirect called Ayers Kaserne and move (or I can do this) the article Ayers Kaserne, Kirchgons, Germany to "Ayers Kaserne". This would seem to match better the naming convention for other U.S. military bases like Fort Benning and Ramstein Air Base. Also request the redirect Ayers Kaserne, Germany be deleted. Thanks, W. B. Wilson (talk) 16:05, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
- Hello Buckshot06. Helpful or not, the disambiguation is at odds with the bulk of like-object names: this category for example -- if there is no other "Ayers Kaserne", I'm not sure why Wikipedia would want one to search for an unnecessarily lengthy article title. I need your help
Buckshot06, I need your guidance about the article edits. I need to get a sense editorial best practices. I have tried to discern what they are, but I have not been able to detect a consistent pattern. I have not been as communicative, and my only excuse is my work schedule make extra-curricular pursuits very challenging. I like collaboration, and I think the talk section may be the bets vehicle. My long-term goal is writing article on U.S. Navy carrier division and carrier groups. Let's see what can be done. Warm regards. Marcd30319 (talk) 00:38, 1 February 2013 (UTC)

Ask first!
Hi,
Would like ask that next time you decide to move/delete articles I've created that you at least have the courtesy to ask before doing so. I check wikipedia regularly and would have been quite happy to discuss what you have done, so that it could be carried out properly, as it stands I am rather annoyed, with 'cut & paste' artists, I had enough problems with Vintagemilitary01.Graham1973 (talk) 10:55, 29 January 2013 (UTC)
- I am again asking that you stop vandalising the articles I wrote. You are not being "bold". You are rude and discourteous. "Cutting & Pasting" without actually reading what you are editing is not the right way to go about this. As it stands I am now going to have to waste time fixing the mess you made with the 11th Infantry division article by giving it a proper rewrite.Graham1973 (talk) 13:01, 3 February 2013 (UTC)
- Saw your note. Wrong arguement. This is all about your discourtesy. As I stated at the beginning of this, it would have been much preferrable if you had contacted either ErrantX or myself to discuss this before editing.Graham1973 (talk) 09:45, 6 February 2013 (UTC)

Done.
Noted that some of the text appears directly taken from Armor Magazine from ( http://www.scribd.com/doc/68188567/Armor-Magazine-July-August-1992 ) (article starts on page 41). A lot of it is similar but was at least rewritten a bit. The magazine in question notes "material may be reprinted, provided credit is given to ARMOR and to the author, except where copyright is indicated." So the article may need some kind of notice; I'll add a note at the bottom that the ARMOR article is the basis for the Wiki article. W. B. Wilson (talk) 09:59, 3 February 2013 (UTC)

British divisions
Hi,
Way back in the mists of time (2011) we talked briefly about British divisions, and you mentioned that you were working on merging the articles for the WWI and WWII divisions which had a coherent link, such as the 51st/52nd.
I've recently rewritten 66th (2nd East Lancashire) Division and wondered if you had an opinion on whether it should be merged with 66th Infantry Division (United Kingdom)? On the one hand, it was dissolved in 1919 and did not reform after the war; it only came back into existence when the Territorial Army expanded in March 1939, so there's no continual existence, and it doesn't have the (East Lancashire) name in 1939-40.
On the other hand, it was formed by duplicating the same division (42nd) as before, and it had more or less the same recruiting area (Manchester/Lancashire); this is the same situation as with the 45th Infantry Division (United Kingdom), which is merged (although it should probably be merged under the WWI name not the WWII one).
Thoughts? I don't want to tread on your toes if there's a system here :-) Andrew Gray (talk) 18:08, 11 February 2013 (UTC)

Hello! What is the EM DBF? Senior Strateg (talk) 11:06, 22 February 2013 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) DBF would be Défense du Bas-Fleuve, I presume: Defense of the lower river. In a francophone military context, "EM" could mean one of several things, maybe a headquarters, maybe école militaire; maybe something else like an établissement or an escadron or whatever. What do the sources say? The article seems to have several opaque acronyms - I think they should be expanded (and maybe linkified where possible) for a lay readership. bobrayner (talk) 13:05, 22 February 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks Bobrayner. In this case, yes, it is Etat-Major, a headquarters. I'll take a look at the other acronyms. Buckshot06 (talk) 18:37, 22 February 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks, Buckshot06! Now I understand. Senior Strateg (talk) 08:38, 23 February 2013 (UTC)

Suggestion
I know we didn't get along very well last time we interacted, but I thought I'd offer a suggestion about those edits we disagreed on. Instead of adding to the NZ army page a section about each piece of equipment as you were planning, why not briefly list them all in a paragraph or so, then link it to another article, where you could write about them all in far greater detail? Just a suggestion. ★★RetroLord★★ 11:12, 2 March 2013 (UTC)

Foreign Langugage translations
For several years now you've been creating poorly translated military related articles and tagging them for other editors to fix (Looking at Category:Wikipedia articles needing cleanup after translation there are at least 20 articles if not more)- it would really be great if you could put a bit of effort into fixing something of them - this is a problem that very few editors care about, one which is only getting worse, and one which right now you have added a significant amount to--Jac16888 Talk 23:03, 29 March 2013 (UTC)

Afghan National Army
Hi there, can you explain this edit? Why are you putting 100,000 when the sources state that the Afghan National Army (ANA) currently numbers 200,000?[4] [5] The ANA is multiplying and expanding every year under the NATO Training Mission-Afghanistan, their number was 100,000 several years ago but today it is around 200,000. [6] This is the reason why NATO forces are gradually departing from Afghanistan.--39.41.31.219 (talk) 11:47, 4 April 2013 (UTC)
- BEcause good scholarly sources, such as Antonio Giustozzi's number of articles on the subject, repeatedly say the US DOD figures are not reliable. Yes, six months ago the Pentagon may have received an advisory from COMISAF that the total number of recruits now induced and troops despatched to units has now tipped 200,000. But units, as our own article says, are anywhere from 45-60% manned and desertion is a severe problem. Thus the actual figure out on the ground will be nowhere near 200,000. Buckshot06 (talk) 22:58, 4 April 2013 (UTC)
- This same issue was repeated in Iraq: Antony Cordesman's reports eventually concluded that the DOD figures could not be trusted. Buckshot06 (talk) 23:00, 4 April 2013 (UTC)

45th Army
Saw your move of the 45th Army (Soviet Union) to 45th Army. I don't believe this is a unique name like you stated. Reading the article on the Chinese General Deng Xihou he 'was sent to command the 45th Army in 1927". I'd change the Army back to the previous version and leave the ones listed as XX Army (Soviet Union) as is. Ryan.opel (talk) 07:44, 8 April 2013 (UTC)

Bulgaria/Ukraine
I finally found enough information about the Bulgarian Land Forces Structure to create a graphic. I also looked at the Ukrainian Ground Forces... and it seems that two mechanized brigades have been disbanded... one from the 6th and one from the 13th Army Corps, but I can not find out which. I updated and streamlined the structure list, but what is under the brigades is a mystery as is what units are there besides the brigades. If you find out anything about the Ukrainian Ground Forces, please let me know, so we can finally do a proper update of this Army. thanks, noclador (talk) 01:23, 10 April 2013 (UTC)

About that apology you owe me
I am going to say this for the last time.
"Sorry" is not good enough, and Wikipedia:Be bold still does not justify your total lack of consideration. I should have been contacted about the original discussion on the issue regarding deception units back in 2012.
Your failure to do so is in my view the height of rudeness and your use of pseudo-issues to distract from that is not acceptable.
Wikipedia is supposed to be about co-operation and collaboration. What you have done bears no relation to either.
Graham1973 (talk) 17:17, 15 April 2013 (UTC)
- In reply to the first I needed a break from dealing with you.
In reply to the second, you will know when that article is completed when I upload it.
Finally, trust and respect are earned. You have earned neither. This whole thing could have been avoided long before. All you had to do was communicate before you acted back in March of 2012. Graham1973 (talk) 11:58, 20 April 2013 (UTC)
I've thought a bit about your suggestion, as I prefer to think before I act. The answer is no, as I'd rather not give it into the hands of someone who acts before they think until it is ready.Graham1973 (talk) 14:23, 22 April 2013 (UTC)
You're reply was exactly what I thought you'd say. Which is to say a continued evasion of the actual issue, as to what that issue is, it's a fairly straightforward one. But then someone who acts in haste without thinking such as yourself probably didn't give it a second thought when you did it.Graham1973 (talk) 09:33, 25 April 2013 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Hi Graham, Why don't you post the draft of the article you're working on in your user space and invite other editors to help out with developing it? That seems to me to be a good way to reaching a consensus on how to cover these deceptions within articles, and I've found that collaborations in user-space drafts can be be a really productive and interesting process. Regards, Nick-D (talk) 09:59, 25 April 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks Nick-D, but no, not yet. As I have mentioned on your talk page, the issue you have suggested a resolution to is not the actual issue.Graham1973 (talk) 05:14, 26 April 2013 (UTC)
- You want Buckshot to declare that he was wrong about something which happened over a year ago? It would be better to move on, especially as merging these deceptions into an article which presents them as such rather than as real units was a very good idea, and which attracted no objections when Buckshot proposed it at WT:MILHIST. Nick-D (talk) 08:02, 26 April 2013 (UTC)

Soviet and Belorussian unit lineages
I'm looking at putting up an article on the 11th Guards Tank Division (former 11th Guards Tank Corps). This unit moved to Belorussia after the Cold War and was reorganized as the 11th Guards Mechanized Brigade of the Belorussian military. I'm wondering what the article name should be -- 11th Guards Tank Division or 11th Guards Mechanized Brigade? I notice in Armed Forces of Belarus that both forms appear; the 120th Brigade article is really about the 120th Guards Division while there is a red-link to a yet-to-exist 11th Guards Tank Division article. Normally, I'd guess that naming the article 11th Guards Mechanized Brigade is probably the way to go, but it seems a bit odd since the unit actually belongs to different country now. Any suggestions ? Cheers, W. B. Wilson (talk) 06:29, 4 May 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks -- so I'll title the article as a brigade vice division. I just realized it gets uglier. The 11th GTC was formed from the 6th Tank Corps. There was also a prewar 6th Tank Division. So should the article track the formation history as 6th TD -- 6th TC -- 11th GTC -- 11th GTD -- 11th GMB ? I noticed in the 9th Tank Division article, the prewar division was handled as a precursor unit of the 9th Tank Corps. Cheers, W. B. Wilson (talk) 06:48, 4 May 2013 (UTC)
- As a further note, apparently the 19th Tank Division postwar was known for a while as the 6th Tank Division (Feskov, p. 97). I guess this iteration of the 6th Tank Division should be handled in an article about the 19th TD ? Organizing this is like trying to pull spaghetti apart. Cheers, W. B. Wilson (talk) 07:00, 4 May 2013 (UTC)
- Okay, I'll go with 6th TC -- 11th GTC -- 11th GTD -- 11th GMB for now. None of the articles are written in stone so we can reorganize later if so desired. Cheers, W. B. Wilson (talk) 07:05, 4 May 2013 (UTC)
- Re: postwar 6th TD, my suggestion would be to leave it with a 19th TD article. The 9th TD article includes the 13th Heavy TD designation; probably better so for general understanding otherwise readers will have to hop between articles to follow a unit history. Cheers, W. B. Wilson (talk) 07:12, 4 May 2013 (UTC)
- 11th Guards Mechanized Brigade for review, edits, etc. Cheers, W. B. Wilson (talk) 08:24, 4 May 2013 (UTC)

The 19th Guards Who-Knows?
User:W. B. Wilson/sandbox/19 -- please review when you get a moment. The RU Wiki states this unit was renamed the 19th Guards Separate Mechanized Infantry Brigade in 2008 after being a "base" (I call this a depot unit). Janes' World Armies of 2008 doesn't mention this base unit at all. So there are two questions (one of which you already mentioned); does this unit still exist?, and what is its designation? Cheers, W. B. Wilson (talk) 09:09, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
Suggestion: we could just title the article "19th Guards Tank Division" and note that it transferred to the Belarus forces as a brigade but that its current status is unknown. The article name could always be moved to whatever current name it may have (if it still exists) later. Likewise, the article could be titled "19th Base Brigade" (or something similar -- what would be best?) Cheers, W. B. Wilson (talk) 12:20, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
- Hard to tell how old this page is, but it mentions the 19th as a separate brigade. Cheers, W. B. Wilson (talk) 12:24, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
- Better page, mentions the 19th Brigade as of November 2012. Cheers, W. B. Wilson (talk) 12:33, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
- Check www8.brinkster.com/vad777, and hang on to what Russian you have. The term is a VKhVT, or Base for Storage of Weapons and Equipment. Forget Jane's, their quality is fatuous - go to www.mil.be. Anyway, the details are actually at Armed Forces of Belarus, in Footnote 20 which I inserted some time ago, based on Vad777's work (the link is there, beware it only has bandwidth for only part of the day). However seems to have been re-upgraded to a brigade now; just read the latest details at Armed Forces of Belarus. I'll also talk offline. Cheers Buckshot06 (talk) 05:57, 6 May 2013 (UTC)

Syrian Armed Forces
I see you've been accused of a couple of "POV issues" when it comes to the syrian armed forces involvement in the Syrian civil war, so maybe you can give me some advice on how to deal with an issue that I'm currently having with another user. I made the attached edits to the Syrian Armed Forces Wikipedia page to reflect the allegations made against the Syrian Armed Forces accusing it of human rights violations, but those edits were blanked out because, "we already have a section on the Syrian Civil war" which to me doesn't make any sense. I see that you are an administrator, so is this an issue that you could look into? Gobbleygook (talk) 06:49, 12 May 2013 (UTC)

103rd Guards Airborne Division
I've just carried out a fairly extensive copy-edit of this article and as your name comes up the most, including the creation of the page, I thought I would let you know.
As I said in the summary, I've taken quite a few liberties with the text, but there is method in my madness. For example, I don't think that having a "Seperate" battalion/brigade is quite right, so I've put in "Independent". If it's wrong, then I'll apologize now; but please don't simply revert the edit, there's a lot of other stuff besides.

In answer to your question
In answer to that question you asked and I apologise for the delay in responding.
I find it ironic that you asked people to discuss deleting Division insignia of the United States Army when could have been "bold" and just deleted it and then discussed it. It is after all what you did when you could not even be bothered to invite me to take part in the 8 that resulted in the creation of British deception formations in World War II article, leaving me to work out what had happened to the articles you cut'n pasted.
I like to think my contributions on Wikipedia are worthwhile and appreciated. Your actions back in 2012 lead me to doubt that.

Speedy deletion nomination of Victor Lundula
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Victor Lundula requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content or organised event, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Would you consider unprotecting it? Ignorance is bliss!
If you don't bother to think about them, then "Unknown unknowns" are not a problem. However, that sort of thing is part of my profession / personality. So I did a http://en.wiki.x.io/w/index.php?title=Special%3APrefixIndex&prefix=Task+Force&namespace=0. Perhaps I should not have? Cheers, Pdfpdf (talk) 10:31, 24 June 2013 (UTC)
- I note that you don't necessarily find my contributions to the JTF page useful to your aims. Two things seem quite clear to me: 1) You are perfectly capable of doing this by yourself; 2) My "help" is not necessarily useful to you.
- I'm perfectly happy to piss off and do something else. (God knows that the list of things that could use input is infinite.)
- What's your preference? Cheers, Pdfpdf (talk) 13:53, 26 June 2013 (UTC)
- Re your reply: Thanks. Jolly good. Yes, I agree that it is indeed "much nicer doing it together". And thanks for the clarifications.
- I have no disagreements, particularly if you are OK with the model: We both put up the data; you tailor/modify it as you feel is necessary / desirable; I tinker with layout / sorting /etc. (Somehow I'd given myself the impression that you were not happy with that model ... ) Cheers, Pdfpdf (talk) 13:42, 28 June 2013 (UTC)
Second and Third Egyptian Armies
Hi Buckshot06
- In answer to your question, I believe that both army commands were first organized after the 1967 war, porbably during or around the end of the War of Attrition. Divisions and brigades and all other formations existed prior to the formation of these commands, all under the direction of the General Headquarters of the Army, but in order to creat more flexibility and better coordination in the fields among these army formations, they were formed. The Main Army reserves were named first the Strategic Home Front, later renamed the 1st Army, although still referred to as The Central Command! probably due to it non-field/front deployment. Hi,
I searched the net for a free use photo of this Medal of Honor recipient. I was unable to find one, and found a suitable photo on the Military Times Hall of Valor. I requested and received permission from the curator to use that photo, which I uploaded. The photo is slated for deletion under the assumption that as the photo was for a member of the armed forces, an ID photo or other free use photo should exist. Again, I searched for such a free photo and could not find one. There must be a technique to use of which I am unaware, please enlighten me.

Disambiguation link notification for October 27
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited 1st Division (Nigeria), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Nguru (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Georgian Armed Forces
Hi Buckshot, the Georgian Armed Forces are undergoing a major restructuring as visible on page 27 of their Strategic Defence Review [9]. I am trying to update old the graphic (File:Land Forces of Georgia.png) with the new structure, but as usual information below brigade level is limited. If you happen to come across some info as to what is now under the brigades, please let me know. thanks, noclador (talk) 11:04, 29 October 2013 (UTC)

10th Combat Aviation Brigade
You might not be aware of the reputation of Mike Sparks, but in the defence community he's well known as a crank and his site is about as unreliable a source as you can get, even as an archive of primary information (he's added his own comments to defence contractor slides before, for example). Stuff sourced to combatreform.org needs to be sourced to anything other than there, even if it's just the offline name of the paper. Herr Gruber (talk) 08:06, 6 November 2013 (UTC)

Buckshot06, request protection for this article. It is under repeated assault by a user whose ID varies but resembles MAC addresses on Ethernet networks. Thanks, W. B. Wilson (talk) 19:02, 18 November 2013 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Those would be IPv6 addresses. [10] is a dead link; is there a more recent source? bobrayner (talk) 20:30, 18 November 2013 (UTC)
- this has the 2012 information. Cheers, W. B. Wilson (talk) 06:06, 19 November 2013 (UTC)
- Bob's correct. First time I've seen a V6 address on the internet. Cheers, W. B. Wilson (talk) 06:00, 19 November 2013 (UTC)
