Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Regarding your edit(s) to Talk:Campbell County Public Schools (Virginia), it is recommended that you use the preview button before you save; this helps you find any errors you have made, and prevents clogging up recent changes and the page history. Thank you.

Also you should try to leave your Talk page or archive it, a mistake I made a month ago. Cheers, -- Lucas20 (talk) 21:18, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sign you posts

[edit]

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 16:01, 6 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Request For Adminship 1

[edit]

Hi Andrew. :)

I hope you don't feel offended when I say this, but I recommend you withdraw your adminship nomination. The community generally supports candidates who've made at least a couple thousand or so edits, and you've only made 625 in total. Your RfA is very unlikely to pass at this point. But don't be discouraged! Your hard work in helping Wikipedia is very much appreciated. Keep up the good article work, get some experience in things like Articles for deletion or vandal-fighting, and come your next RfA, you'll pass with flying colours. :D Master&Expert (Talk) 19:02, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I am sorry, but I have closed your Request for adminship prematurely. Simply put, you only have edits on Wikipedia; while your edit count isn't the only determining factor, and numerous people have their own personal standards by which they judge RfA candidates, this particular RfA was all but assured of not passing.
I am sorry about this, and I hope you don't take it personally. If you continue to contribute to the project in a positive fashion, I am confident that you would be able to submit a successful RfA in the future. You may wish to consider applying for an evaluation by other Wikipedia editors for feedback on how to obtain the necessary experience. Once you are ready to request adminship again, there is a great admin coaching program available, as well as a guide to requests for adminship.
If you have any other questions about becoming an administrator, please don't hesitate to ask me. Good luck! It Is Me Here t / c 19:34, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Schools Assessments

[edit]

Hi Andrew, thanks for working on more assessments. Don't forget step 4 in the assessment process which is "Write a short summary and post it on the talk page (in the info parameter if you are using {{WPSchools}}) and in the Assessment Summaries section below." This is really useful for those improving the articles. I think that once you move from apprentice you do not have to leave summaries for Start level assessments, but you still do for C+. Rollback

[edit]

I have 1 granted rollback rights to your account; the reason for this is that after a review of some of your contributions, I believe I can trust you to use rollback correctly by using it for its intended usage of reverting vandalism, and that you will not abuse it by reverting good-faith edits or to revert-war. For information on rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback and Wikipedia:Rollback feature. If you do not want rollback, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Good luck and thanks. –Juliancolton | Talk 16:04, 5 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

FAC withdrawn

[edit]

I appreciate that you are acting in good faith, but it is best if featured articles are nominated by people who have worked closely on them. In this way, they can give reasoned replies to reviewers and be familiar enough with the sources to act on suggested improvements. Someone who has not worked on the article can not provide this input, so the nomination may continue until opposition to it becomes so overwhelming that the article is failed; this takes away time from reviewers. While the Glasgow article is of reasonable quality, it is not yet of featured quality, and principal contributors must be consulted before a nomination, as required in the featured article candidate instructions. You might consider first working the article up through peer review and good article candidacy to prepare for its nomination.

I have reinstated the peer review. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 14:23, 15 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

List of animals in Camperdown Wildlife Centre

[edit]

Hello. I noticed that you're about to list the species of this Wildlife Centre. As list are generally seen a bit problematic on Wikipedia, I would suggest that you first write an article about the centre itself, so people get to know the institution prior to reading about the "inhabitants". Wouldn't that be better? De728631 (talk) 10:00, 18 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"Media representation of Strauss"

[edit]

delete reference to documentary film BECAUSE inclusion of a whole section about a television program in a philosopher's article is unencyclopedic (no other philosopher on the whole of wikipedia has such a section). Moreover, the tv program seems to have its own, rather large, article.

?????? Andrewmc123 17:37, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you want we can put a link to the television program at the bottom of the page. But I don't see a large section (accounting for >10% of the page & with its own SUB-HEADING) in the article on, say Hegel or Sartre, which merely summerises the (possibly contentious) views of a single television program (not even a academic book or peer-reviewed article) that happened once to have been made about them. Why should strauss be treated differently to every other philosopher  :) 86.26.0.25 (talk)

Proposed deletion of Upcoming River City Characters

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Upcoming River City Characters, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Crystal balling.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Fair use rationale for File:Shona McIntyre (River City).jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Shona McIntyre (River City).jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Peripitus (Talk) 00:31, 27 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

About your Admin Coaching request

[edit]
User talk

Your submission at Admin Coaching has been removed from the request list, as requests where the submitter has not visited the page for at least 6 months (or been inactive for at least 4 months) are removed.

You are welcome to re-submit a request should you wish to, but please note that you are expected to regularly check the page (and to update the "last visited" field of your request) to show your continued interest in the project. If you do re-submit, please carefully re-read the instructions for submission as they may have changed since you last visited!

As noted on the project page, there is an on-going backlog with the project, as so few admins are currently coaching. This means that you may have a long wait for a response (if you receive one at all).

If you no longer require admin coaching, I hope that you continue to enjoy editing Wikipedia!

Hello, I note that you have commented on the first phase of Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Biographies of living people

As this RFC closes, there are two proposals being considered:

  1. Proposal to Close This RfC
  2. Alternate proposal to close this RFC: we don't need a whole new layer of bureaucracy

Your opinion on this is welcome. Okip 02:07, 24 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Climate change in Scotland has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unreferenced original research - fails WP:OR, WP:RS

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. andy (talk) 22:24, 19 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for uploading File:Scotland_tv.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Chris G Bot (talk) 00:22, 4 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You are now a Reviewer

[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 04:46, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

River City

[edit]

The River City articles need desperatly updating and sorting out, they are a complete mess, and I think personally most of the articles should be deleted and started all over again, but maybes having one article and a list of the characters with there own sections. We need to find more information, and dates and things like that, and we would have to properly work, at it. So, do you think you would be able to help also, and maybes delete the other articles, so we can start from scratch completely. Do you think we could do it?--AcidBrights (talk) 11:11, 4 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes definitely. Over the last few months a lot of River City articles have been deleted. I think that characters should not be given their own article but should be put into one article with different sections for different characters (as done with List of River City characters (2006-2007). I would be willing to help out.

River City continued

[edit]

Yes, I think your right about references and things, we need to do quite a lot. I can do the character infoboxes, but we need to find characters first appearances dates. Do you know any dates of characters first appearnces imparticular?--AcidBrights (talk) 14:06, 4 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Not really (I only started watching in mid 2007) but the River City archive website has a lot of information on specific previous episodes. With a bit of work, it is possible to work backwards to find the first episode that the character appeared in. See the episode archive here.

Tayside and Fife project

[edit]

Hi there and thanks for the note about your proposed Tayside and Fife project. Just wanted to let you know I'm contemplating the idea but I feel I may not be able to devote much time to it. All the best with the proposal though. Mutt Lunker (talk) 23:34, 5 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you anyway. Andrewmc123 00:48, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, this all appeared and disappeared as I was going on holiday... nice idea, but I don't think there's enough active editors contributing regularly to Tayside/Fife articles to make it work, sadly. Catfish Jim and the soapdish (talk) 21:20, 19 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
