There seems to be an edit war happening on the article about Oswestry School. Both of you need to stop the edit war and discuss the problem, either on the article's talk page or on the talk page of the other editor. You both need to be aware of WP:3RR. - David Biddulph (talk) 10:58, 8 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You need to remind yourself of Wikipedia's definition of vandalism. - David Biddulph (talk) 11:11, 8 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I feel "deliberate attempt to compromise the integrity of Wikipedia", refers. Testcase41 seems to be deliberately attempting to block news of changes at the establishment. - Alphaceo (talk) 11:19, 8 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I am the ICT Technician for the school and I can tell you that Bellan House is still going strong with no plans to shut down. Please could you stop adding this info as it is incorrect and Testcase41 is just trying to get rid of the same info you repeatedly put up. DanielCooling OSICT (talk) 11:33, 8 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'll scan and upload the pertinent section of the letter we received from Douglas Robb later to put an end to this dispute once and for all - Alphaceo (talk) 11:47, 8 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Could you scan the whole letter instead of just the pertinent section please? This will help me to verify that it is an official school letter to a parent. DanielCooling OSICT (talk) 12:21, 8 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If you are the ICT person, then surely, you can just upload the latest end of term letter (which is missing) to it's usual location on the website? - Alphaceo (talk) 12:54, 8 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I don't actually have any input when it comes to the website, our marketing department deals with that, so I don't have the original letter that was sent out to re-upload. I do however have a logon to get access to the website though, so I will check to see if it has been left on the server even if the link is no longer there. DanielCooling OSICT (talk) 13:06, 8 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I have found the letter to parents and I think that you probably know there is a difference between what is said in the letter:

"One of the more radical ideas was to look at relocating the Prep Department up to the Senior School site to allow pupils more green space to play and to make parking easier, two things that have concerned parents for a long time."

"We could then utilise the Bellan building for Sixth Form pupils. This is an option that I will be looking at as part of the School five year strategic plan. I will arrange a meeting to consult with parents on this issue in the new term but please do feel free to contact me at any stage with your views on this or indeed any other matter. Two things are clear, we will always have a Prep department and we will always own Bellan House; it is a beautiful and iconic building that we are proud to be custodians of."

and what you have said:

"In his Lent end of term letter to parents, the headmaster announced that Bellan House would cease to be a junior school as from the end of Trinity (summer) term 2014. "

Saying that Bellan would cease to be a junior school is just a bit misleading; it makes it sound like it is closing down, which was at no point mentioned in the letter. Incidentally, we have had similar edits on wikipedia that have said that we are closing down because of low numbers which is also not true.

Also, at no point does it say that anything will be happening at the end of Summer Term 2014.

Hopefully this will end this argument now, as far as I am concerned, that should put the matter to bed. I think you can stop trying to post that info now as I have proven that it is mostly misleading and incorrect in places! Thanks DanielCooling OSICT (talk) 13:43, 8 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

So, just to clarify; you, as an employee of Oswestry School are stating that Bellan House is NOT going to stop being a Junior School?

I'm sure a lot of people will be very relieved to hear this. Bellan House plays a very important part in the hearts of many people. To ignore this would be a very perilous move indeed. Alphaceo (talk) 14:16, 8 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

To clarify, as was stated in the quoted part of the letter from the Headmaster to parents, the idea is to relocate the Prep department to the main site and use the Bellan House building as a sixth form centre instead. Also, as is stated above, Oswestry School 'will always have a prep department and we will always own Bellan House'.

So, Bellan House may not be the prep department site forever, but, we will always have a prep department and we will always own Bellan House, we're just considering re-arranging things.

I also think it is fairly important to note that at the moment this is just an idea, and the Headmaster has stated that he will be 'arranging a meeting to consult with parents on this issue in the new term' and also said if you wish you can contact him 'at any stage with your views'.

With this in mind, please could you agree not to keep adding this information back in? As stated in a previous entry part of it's inaccurate and also fairly misleading; and it is also only an idea at the moment! If you are unhappy with the idea that was outlined, can I suggest you speak to the Headmaster. Thanks DanielCooling OSICT (talk) 16:05, 8 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

So, to clarify: as I stated originally, the school are considering closing Bellan House. By Bellan House, I refer to the Prep School, you see, Bellan House IS a Prep School. Saying, "we will always own Bellan House" and it not being a Prep School is a bit like Oswestry School being turned into a supermarket and it still being called Oswestry School - it's utter lunacy! For the record, the scan of my letter is here, not quite the non-story you guys were hoping it would turn out to be. Alphaceo (talk) 21:14, 8 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

To make this very clear:

We are considering how best to use the space available to the school.

We will not be closing down the prep department and we will not be selling Bellan House (the building).

The headmaster states it would be part of a 5 year plan and not going ahead at the end of next year.

Finally, we are only discussing options at this stage, as stated to you multiple times.

Whether you like this idea or not is irrelevant to this conversation, and I have given you multiple options on how best to voice your opinion; all I am concerned with at this moment is stopping you from posting misleading and incorrect comments on wikipedia.

Keen not to ignite another 'Editing War', do you feel that the following is a fair representation of current events?:

"In March 2013, the Headmaster announced that he had commissioned an 'inspection' and one of the by-products of this 'inspection' is to consider the future of Bellan House as a Prep School. One of the options currently being considered is to move the existing prep school up to the Senior School site and turn the existing Bellan House building into a sixth form centre." Alphaceo (talk) 12:44, 9 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That's fine, all I wanted was a true description of what was actually happening. DanielCooling OSICT (talk) 13:04, 9 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your help. Alphaceo (talk) 13:07, 9 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Well done, Alphaceo. About time the true facts started coming out. 86.142.154.21 (talk) 17:38, 11 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. Bellan House change reliable source Added. - Alphaceo (talk) 22:33, 17 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

There is no conflict of interest. PLEASE stop undoing this page. The text has been agreed with the school, we have already done the noteworthy and newsworthy discussions. I have added a citation for the reference. Alphaceo (talk) 22:25, 17 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
So you are not affiliated with Oswestry School in any way? When you said above "I'll scan and upload the pertinent section of the letter we received from Douglas Robb" what did you mean by "we"? --John (talk) 05:06, 18 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I am one of a group of individuals with an interest in seeing that the TRUTH is published. Alphaceo (talk) 06:23, 18 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Assuming you are referring to myself, I would be grateful if you would kindly remove the reference to 'Mr G' from the Oswestry School Talk Page made at: 15:16, 19 April 2013 (UTC). I would have rather not had my name dragged into this. Your assistance would be much appreciated. Jonathan Greatorex (talk) 11:01, 3 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Understood and will do so. But for the record it wasn't me who brought your name into it. Alphaceo (talk) 11:44, 3 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
