Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Stubs

[edit]

Articles can be given a quality rating, and the lowest rank is stub. Wikipedia:WikiProject New Zealand/Assessment is of relevance to WikiProject New Zealand. When the class of an article is 'stub' as recorded on its talk page, a tag can be added to the article page that puts it into one or more types of stub category. I've just reassessed Colombo Street from start class (i.e. the second lowest rating) to C class (the third lowest rating). If you ever get into rating articles, it's important to remove stub tags from the article when it gets rated as something better than stub class. Please ping me if you have questions. Specifically which of the EL rules do you think my revision contravened?Johnragla (talk) 18:04, 4 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • External links are best used as a third party source specifically relating to the article in question. As a matter of good faith I chose to undo the edit. The first reference regarding AADT was fine, but could be better used as referring to content. I have just added content to the article using the reference but instead referencing the AADT sheet 2011-2015 on the NZTA website rather than the historical list to make it less ambigious. The second link is just a url to a traffic delays page so WP:NOTGUIDE and the third was a reference to Facebook which is not a reliable source (but if the same content can be sourced elsewhere that may be acceptable). Ajf773 (talk) 05:41, 5 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Still no answer on which EL rule I've broken. Neither can I find anything in What_Wikipedia_is_not#External_links, except it says EL shouldn't be of excessive length. Are 3 links excessive? The Facebook page gives the source - http://ndhadeliver.natlib.govt.nz/content-aggregator/getIEs?system=ilsdb&id=1081104. Are you saying that and the map are unreliable? If so, why?Johnragla (talk) 08:00, 5 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
    • Refer to WP:EL for external links. The quantity of external links should be limited a few that have significant connection to the article - I added the New Zealand Transport Agency as an example as this is the governing body that administers the highway. EL guidelines don't apply to links within citations. The content may be factual but the source itself is not reliable and social media sites and blogs are, more often than not, considered original research WP:NOR.
  • I still don't understand why you say that the "content may be factual", when it's a map on the National Library website. Are you suggesting the National Library makes up maps which aren't factual? If so, what's your evidence?Johnragla (talk) 08:28, 5 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
    • The original link you had supplied referred to facebook/social media. The second link refers to the National Library website. The difference here is where the content was sourced - the latter is reliable, the former is not. Ajf773 (talk) 08:33, 5 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • But the latter refers to the former, so at what point and how does it lose reliability? It's just that the Facebook link is easier for most people to follow, since the National Library website is structured in a way that requires 4 steps to reach the result shown on the Facebook link. I could include the Library reference and a long explanation of how to get to the relevant part. Is that what you're suggesting?Johnragla (talk) 08:42, 5 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • hope i've followed your instructions. still seems to me to be better as it was, but at least the link's there.

'Bicycle ban' section

[edit]

I have undone your revisions regarding Public transport in Hamilton and Waikato specifically the 'Bicycle ban' section which claims Hamilton has been the largest city not to carry bicycles on any of its public transport. No reference specifically verifying this statement has yet been cited. Multiple references relating to transport in other cities (Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch) are references to their own respective transport systems (but not those in Hamilton and Waikato). A reference to city populations from the New Zealand census does not state anything about bicycles on public transport. It is not immediately distinguishable to the reader and remains trivial and ambiguous.

If you can find a single source which clearly states that Hamilton has been the largest city not to carry bicycles on any of its public transport, then I'll be happy to allow it to remain. Ajf773 (talk) 09:34, 8 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Event Cinemas

[edit]

Yo, thought I could explain better here. The last edits were very detailed on the features and venues, but were highly promotional. Since they're gone, I thought having that link there would interest people who were into that sort of stuff... like architecture and technology... like me... I do enjoy that page... I often don't even think to look at a page on Wikipedia unless it's hyperlinked... even if you think it's useless... :) E ribbon toner (talk) 10:27, 31 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • The article is self explanatory and the 'see also' heading to the generic article is unnecessary. A better way to format it would be as follows:
Event Cinemas have over fifty movie theatre venues around Australia, many located in large shopping centres. The cinema complexes comprise multiple screens.
Read WP:ALSO for the manual of style relating to the content.
I totally get it now, you're completely right! Thanks for this. :) E ribbon toner (talk) 11:16, 31 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Suburbs and retailers

[edit]

Hi, Ajf773! I notice your campaign against mention of retailers in Underwood, Queensland. However, if you look around, you will see it is common practice to mention retailers (and particularly notable restailers) in suburb articles (there's often not a lot else to say in them!). You keep saying that Wikipedia is not a retail directory; however, I am not aware of this as one of Wikipedia's policies. While WP:NOTDIR prohibits providing great detail, it does not prohibit mention. Listing their addresses, phone numbers and opening hours etc would be going too far, but I don't think saying something like:

Nowheresville has a Coles, a Kentucky Fried Chicken and a hot bread kitchen.

is a problem. If anything, it gives a pretty clear indication of the kind of place it is by the retailers active there.

The other thing to note is that this kind of content is often provided by new contributors in which case WP:NOBITE applies. We should always think twice before removing good faith content provided by new contributors.

I really don't see the harm in short lists of this kind of content, particularly in articles where there isn't a whole lot else to say about the place. Kerry (talk) 20:46, 1 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Kerry. I don't have any issue with mentioning retailers if there is a special claim to fame (and can be verified with third party sources) or a very limited inclusion criteria (such as anchors in a shopping centre) but mentioning a retailer in geographic area , just because it exists, isn't enough reason for inclusion in my opinion. Because of the changing nature of commercial activity in areas, content goes out of date fast, and such become a harvest for new and inexperienced users to keep adding content leading eventually to spam. Yes WP:NOTDIR covers this (and the policy is not exclusive to phone numbers and addresses) also potentially they can infringe WP:NOTADVERT, WP:NOTGUIDE, WP:NOTRAVEL. More notably the other more important matter is that there are often completely unsourced, as was also the case in this particular article.
I don't believe lists like this are commonplace in articles and I am observing more of an effort to clean these up rather than retain them. Ajf773 (talk) 04:11, 7 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Rosehill College: Not an Enrolment Guide

[edit]

I am not really seeing why you removed material that had been present for several years. What makes the removed material "enrolment guidey"?

You have left it very difficult to understand what being split into houses means. Information on subjects offered is, for instance, present in AGS's article. Information on school blocks, whilst interesting, is perhaps extraneous whereas the rest is sort of critical to understanding the nature of the school.

Clearly, however, you are more familiar with Wikipedia editing than myself, which is why your changes, as yet, have not been undone. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vonvorx (talkcontribs) 08:21, 25 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Let me put it to you simply by saying Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a guide. We don't indiscriminant pages of content to school articles that has no encyclopedic value and serves more of a guide for enrolling students into the school. See WP:NOTGUIDE and WP:SCHOOLCRUFT. Ajf773 (talk) 07:51, 26 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You may find it helpful in future to avoid mistaking repeating assertions for answering questions. This is particularly discourteous when the questions include actual reasons.

In terms of schoolcruft, a crufty name btw, there is little sign of that either. There was the stuff about blocks but if you'll notice, I agreed this was extraneous. And the wifi. That can stay gone, I guess? But why does noting that the school offers standard subjects amount to cruftiness? If an article doesn't discuss, briefly, whether a school uses NCEA/IB/CIE I think we've absolutely failed to provide a description of the school. Similarly, it may make sense to you or I what a house is but this is not always going to be true (consider the NCEA talk page question about credits). Due to your unexplained decisions about what is enrolment guide-like (after years of edits, including by experienced Wikipedians) both of these important facets are now not present. So, I repeat why should this be the case? (Which means, specifically, what is it about these facets that makes them crufty?)

In truth, thanks to you, we should be renaming this article "Staff of Rosehill College" because there is more about the principals now than such basic things as whether or not the school has a uniform or not! In short, [citation needed] better described the majority of the problems (i.e. excluding blocks, wifi) rather than blanket removal. Unless, of course, there is some compellingly enrolment guidey character I did not see first time around and have not been assisted in seeing despite enquiring. (Unless, of course, we should go through presumably ever school article in NZ and remove information about their zones, which is obviously actually guidelike.)

my sincere apology

[edit]

when i saw it was being moved to 'list of restaurant of australia', instead of reverting - I changed to 'list of resturants of australia', to fit my knowledge of english usage, so it is an unresolved mess - as the lead sentence refers to the original title which is more appropriate

No problem. I had noticed the article had been renamed for some unknown reason so thanks for fixing it. Ajf773 (talk) 17:00, 1 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I see you reverted my edit on the 51st New Zealand Parliament page with the comment that the change should wait until after the Mount Albert by-election. I stand by my original statement, however - Labour currently has only 31 seats as Mount Albert is vacant and held by no party. If a vote were to be called, Labour would only have 31 votes - not the 32 proportionality would entitle it to. If Labour wins the election, this (obviously) would revert to 32 seats. If this makes sense to you, I think my edit should be re-instated. What do you think? Cheers —tdltrombonator 11:26, 7 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Doing something one way one time doesn't mean it's best practice. As per the Parliament website, Labour only has 31 seats. For accuracy, I think we should update the article to reflect this, and amend it after the by-election is over for whichever party/candidate wins. —tdltrombonator 12:13, 7 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Ok then. Perhaps add a note pending the result of the by-election. Ajf773 (talk) 12:15, 7 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for reconsidering. I think that adding a note as you suggest pre-guesses the result of the by-election, so I won't be that explicit. —tdltrombonator 12:25, 7 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, as fas as I can see the external links in the above article are neither excessive nor inappropriate, and they are in footnotes. What would you change? Cheers, Drahtlos (talk) 13:15, 13 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi @Drahtlos. I suggest we deal to the external links by removing them all. Some may be suitable to be converted to a citation, others we should leave unlinked and develop a list inclusion criteria for the article to decide whether or not to include them long-term. Ajf773 (talk) 23:31, 27 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

Regarding the difference between Clendon and Clendon Park, on the Auckland Council site, Google maps, and a map of Manukau & Howick Wards Post Codes, the area is referred to as Clendon Park. I am not finding official use of Clendon as the suburb. So, I reverted the version of Clendon to the redirect to Clendon Park. If I am missing something and you have sources that state that the official name is Clendon, though, please let me know.

By the way, I have added citations to the Clendon Park article.–CaroleHenson (talk) 09:58, 12 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • @CaroleHenson Appreciate this. The redirects for the Clendon article were from an IP user who has a high history of disruptive editing (across multiple IPs). Very seldom do they get it right. I am satisfied with your response and affirmation that the redirect is suitable. Ajf773 (talk) 20:25, 12 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Blue's Clues videos

[edit]

Youstruck out a comnent because the editor was trying to post two. Do you not think 1 is the same person as 2? I have no evidence. Just that they both are for keeping it and the former has only on edit, suggesting an IP hopping. Although, I don't want to accuse wihout certainty. 2600:1:F18E:779D:2961:E106:9A9D:7391 (talk) 14:46, 10 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It has all the hallmarks of IP hopping which I have noted down to assist in the outcome of the AfD. Ajf773 (talk) 18:29, 10 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. And concerning the article, the orginal creator 3 has been blocked indefinatly.

And the article really is questionable. Don't get me wrong. Blue's Clues was also a part of my childhood and I can understand why old fans should want such honors. However, Wikipedia is not for honoring third parties. I do feel Daniel was in the right and that few people second him so that he is forced to put up with the editors whose only obivious purpose for retaining the article is too honor the show, as is quite obivious from one ip's mention of the list of Dora videos (apparently a sign of understandable jealousy). So, in my opinion, Daniel's suggestions are in the right and should be followed redirecting or deleting the page. Mike Baird Paragraph in Prohibition Article

[edit]

The concept of neoprohibitionism is that the government will implement seemingly non-prohibition alcohol regulations which have the side effect of reducing the demand for alcohol. In Mike Baird's case, the lockout laws placed severe regulations on the operations of bars in the city. The bars could not survive with such regulations, which was the real intent of the regulations. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.200.3.66 (talk) 20:03, 18 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • This ridiculous warning was posted by an editor with less than 500 edits to their name, angry at me for reverting edits under the WP:NOT policy just because as they were the creator of Cycling in Sydney they believed they were entitled to add whatever they liked! Ajf773 (talk) 11:16, 9 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • It's worth reading through Talk:Cycling_in_Sydney to get a more complete version of what happened here. I accepted that many of the links were of a promotional nature. I noted this and was happy to for their removal. But there were other important links, form community based web sites (not for profits) where much of the info on this page was discussed further. While Ajf773 defined all these as WP:NOT, I pointed out they could also be classed as WP:ELMAYBE or several other acceptable categories. My main concern was that useful content were being removed without any discussion in the Talk page. From the above discussions, this has happened on several other pages. I suggest it's best to notify authors and maintainers who can then provide a wider context to the reason for specific links and other info. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Teraplane (talkcontribs) 01:56, 3 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Back in February 2017, you had flagged this article as having content that is written like an advertisement: Norwest Venture Partners

I have recently made edits to the page that hopefully correct the issue. Could you take a look and see if the issues are corrected, or if not, suggest (or make) any still-needed edits? And then, thank you for considering removing the flag if appropriate.

List of Companies based in Texas|Austin company removal

[edit]

Austin Recently you removed a listing for software company Meta SaaS located in Austin, TX for non-notability. I discovered this company via an in depth article on Venture Beat https://venturebeat.com/2017/05/24/mark-cuban-leads-1-5-million-round-in-saas-management-tool-meta-saas/ and further found in depth articles on the Business Journal's web site. These articles do not appear to be self promotional or press releases. The standard for company or organizational notability seems to be met by the definitions laid out on Wikipedia:Notability_(organizations_and_companies). I certainly do not want to get into a wikiargument but it appears that the company meets the criteria for notability and should be returned to the listing. Before I do that though I welcome your feedback as there are numerous other companies in the Austin area I intend to add. Chatterboxer (talk) 01:08, 4 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If the issue is with pictures I'm working on it but I have worked on the Newcastle Transport page previously before without any troubles and if you think I'm a untrusted person then you have me wrong. I'm happy to provide information that I'm contributing the page and not adding fake or useless information. Finally I don't see any problem with adding a fleet table as I've seen plenty of other Bus company pages that have their fleet listed in a table. Rollback

[edit]

Hwllo Ajf773! I'm Trevor, a product manager at the Wikimedia Foundation. I'm investigating a bug report for a new feature we worked on, and I think you could help. Today you made this revert which triggered an edit summary notification. We want reverts to not trigger these notifications and are trying to track down what triggered this.

What tool did you use to perform this rollback? Twinkle, the tool on the history page? something else? Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated! Thank you. — Trevor Bolliger, WMF Product Manager (t) 22:27, 23 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Afj773. I suspect Special:Diff/832474453 also pinged the user in the edit summary. Would you mind telling us what software you're using? We can see that it is updated to not ping anymore. Thanks! MusikAnimal talk 15:30, 26 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@TBolliger (WMF): @MusikAnimal:. Not using any software. Any rollbacks I do are restoring old revisions. Ajf773 (talk) 17:42, 26 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
So are you manually typing in the edit summaries, "Reverted N edits to previous/last good version by..."? I see Special:Diff/832474453 is not tagged as Undo or Rollback, and you do not have the rollback right. If you are typing the summaries in manually, this is completely fine, but just note that User:Foo will ping User:Foo. You can avoid this by simply prefixing a colon, like :User:Foo. Cheers MusikAnimal talk 18:35, 26 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Ajf773

[edit]

Thank you giving me a massage in my talk page. According to you I want to own the article List of programmes broadcast by Discovery Kids (India) as mine. But please listen, I do not want to do such. In the previous history of the page, you deleted the section of movies giving a summary that the page does not need the movies that has ever appeared. But they have appeared there with many repeats. And what would an encyclopedia help if most of information is not provided. Such as, if anyone want to find a movie on that channel he wil not find about it. So I reverted your edit. You can lend me if I have any misunderstanding or mistake. But please talk over the issue. User:AnkurHow (talk) 1:43 PM, 10 April 2018(UTC)

  • The list of movies was removed because movies are not regular nor original programming on television networks. As you are the creator you should be aware anyone can edit the article and you should give constructive reasons for your edits, as I have done but you haven't. Ajf773 (talk) 20:05, 10 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Ok Ajf773, I understood your words. Thank You

User:AnkurHow (talk) 1:29 AM, 11 April 2018(UTC)

I have removed the tag from The Moment (New Zealand TV series), which you proposed for deletion. While you nominatated the series for deletion under the 'Notability' criteria, the programme indeed meets these, as the programme was broadcast on a national broadcast network, owned by the national broadcaster TVNZ. The channel itself is one of the highest rating channels in the country, and the series was seen by a high percentage of the population. Local programming for New Zealand is important and is worthy of documentation.. If you still think this article should be deleted, please do not add proposed deletion back to the file. Instead, feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks! Tvtalknew (talk) 11:08, 23 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about the revert, I forgot to clear up all the unsourced lists of buscruft; some of them are okay, but people just keep putting random ones in without noticing and it ends up with a giant jumble. Hi. I created the above article today and already an editor has changed it to Panuku Development Auckland. What are your thoughts on restoring it to Panuku, as per WP:COMMONNAME? Akld guy (talk) 08:40, 2 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • I would assume that Panuku Regional Development is the formal name (according to Auckland Council sources) although I don't see Panuku being used in anywhere else so it could be acceptable for the article, at the very least a redirect. Ajf773 (talk) 08:47, 2 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I've decided to leave it as it is. The article is linked to by about 9 other articles, all of which already used the full name Panuku Development Auckland, and some changed from red links to blue automatically. It was a trivial matter to link the others rather than piping Panuku with the "|" character, so perhaps it simply is best as it is. I haven't looked but there should already be a redirect from Panuku because of the Move. Thanks for taking the time to reply. Akld guy (talk) 20:22, 2 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Church list AFD

[edit]

I did some looking around and found Category:Lists of churches in England, which has a number of articles with the same basis as the Lisburn list but with fleshed out tables and such about the churches. I'm of the opinion that these are still just directories with neither most of the contents nor the indiscriminate lists themselves being notable. Most of them were also created by the same user, so I don't believe there is a consensus for these sorts of lists to be there. Reywas92Talk 21:00, 2 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Freebird charter service

[edit]

please explain the reason you are continuosly and arbitrarly removing frrebird charter service from Malpensa Airport page

@Ajf773 :

  • charters are widely included in airport pages, heavily listed in Malpensa page (and punctually updated), why this have to be different?
  • Sources clearly states when and how this service will take place. I also gave multiple sources. The fact that they are "holiday booking websites" do not undervalue their effect and, for sure, are NOT spam.

Your arguments are INCONSISTENT. Evaluate to restore the edit (you can, of course, add additional and/or more meaningfull sources)

  • To be consistent the rest of the charter flights should be removed. They are not routine services and should not be included. The Wikiproject group made this consensus.
  • Holiday booking sites are spamlinks. Wikipedia is not a travel guide. Ajf773 (talk) 22:27, 25 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Ajf773 : The rest of the charter flights listed in Milan Malpensa airport are ALL PROPERLY, TIMELY and VERIFIEDLY referenced. It is NOT forbidden to list charters services as per WP:AIRPORT-CONTENT unless they are private, ad-hoc (one per time) or irregular (and none of the prevoius is the case of freebird to Bodrum).

  • I'm looking at some of those sources and they are questionable. Some of the links don't even work. Also do bear in mind that Wikipedia is not a directory and there is no obligation to even have these destination lists. It's a general consensus that routes which operate so sporadically should not be included. Same goes with future routes (ones that are not operational at the present time). Ryanair TLV-Nuremberg route

But it mentioned in the website!!!!! If people can order a flight it's reliable enough!Friends147 (talk) 21:42, 28 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Refer to WP:AIRPORT-CONTENT. This is the consensus on how we publish future destinations. Ajf773 (talk) 21:44, 28 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • "For future destinations, add: "(begins date service begins)" after the destination. Starting dates must be provided with full date including the year[5] and references should be provided" - I did the exact thing! A reference to the official website which you can book a flight is reliable enough. It shown that the first flight will start on October 28.Friends147 (talk) 21:48, 28 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • The official website does not provide the exact start date. If this has to be found using the airlines search engine then this is a violation of WP:SYNTH. If you can find a press release stating this, use that instead. Ajf773 (talk) 21:50, 28 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please do see there. I do hope you don't mind my disagreeing with you in the AFD. About the AFD, though, I think the topic of "night buses in London" is big, culturally/historically/etc., and the AFD target is a combo. It needs editing but should be kept, IMHO. --Doncram (talk) 01:50, 15 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Evidently you feel you are superior to others based on your edit numbers. Problem is that even after 13,000 edits, you either were unaware of (or chose to ignore) BRD policy by trying to place the onus was on those who wanted to maintain the status quo to make the case, when really it was on you. And you may have gotten away with it until I noticed, sorry to disappoint.

I may have only made 74 edits, but the difference between you and me is that I only appear to edit articles that I have a reasonably good understanding of. You appear to have arrived, made some positive contributions adding text and and articles (albeit always uncited), but then run out of puff. Rather than saying my work is done and found something else to fill in the days, you have hung around, seemingly scouring the four corners of the earth for articles that you can delete text from, quite sad really.

That so many of your attempts to have articles deleted fail despite you fighting tooth and nail trying to try and discredit anybody else's point if they disagree with you like these, indicates you are not as knowledgeable as you would have us believe. You may yet prevail in this discussion, but unlikely to be on the basis of your attempts to discredit others. Ponyo98 (talk) 05:09, 4 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • For someone who claims they have done their homework, I'd like to inform you that my beginnings on Wikipedia are someone like you in your position now, who focused primarily on topics I had good understanding of, until I realised that you can't just add anything you like to Wikipedia due to the policies and guidelines. I too have had dozens of edits reverted by other users in my own attempts to improve an article, even with sources. I still have a very active presence in maintaining articles, you can find those easily among the 13,000+ edits I've made. I just tend to come across a lot of articles with problems in them (as well as full articles which are themselves problematic), and I come across a lot more editors who turn a blind eye to those problems. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Whangarei, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Kelvin Davis (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Hi AJF773,

I noticed previously you deleted a edit about the future order of 787s. "Tourism brochure"

[edit]

Hello Ajf773, I've fixed what you called a use of "Tourism Brochure language" in my edits on the Wikipedia entry for Wellington, although, personally, I couldn't see any difference. Look at the wikipedia page for San Fransisco, and you can see this employs much of the same language. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Leavepuckgackle1998 (talkcontribs) 10:21, 9 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Reverts on Mount Kaukau

[edit]

My friend, I’m sorry to say, but you are sadly mistaken on how to pronounce this word. It is a Maori language word, and there is absolutely no excuse not to pronounce it correctly. It is also a blatantly racist statement to say there is a “Pākehā” or 'English" way of saying it, so if you ever have said that, please refrain from doing so ever again. Mispronunciation is harmful. It is lazy, shows no respect to the mana of the tangata whenua, and is misleading for people who mispronounce it, as they come to wikipedia to see how it is pronounced. You are responsible for misleading people. Now I have to put in citations to ensure my edit isn’t removed. Whether or not you are Maori is irrelevant; we must treat words of this language with respect. I know people who are Maori or can speak Maori fluently (or else have a high knowledge of tikanga) who, like me, are sick and tired of people like you preventing knowledge and letting racially motivated ignorance reign supreme. If you still don’t believe me, check out the below. https://maoridictionary.co.nz/search?idiom=&phrase=&proverb=&loan=&histLoanWords=&keywords=Kaukau — Preceding unsigned comment added by Leavepuckgackle1998 (talkcontribs) 10:18, 19 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Any reason that you thought it productive to revert these edits, with an edit summary of "excessive addition of undue detail"? You thought the article wasn't up to scratch, hence you initiated a deletion discussion, yet despite the consensus being not to delete but improve the article, appear to be resisting attempts to fix. I have reinstated, can you please express your concerns via the talk page rather than just reverting again. Toweplus (talk) 12:06, 7 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Kia ora Ajf,

My name is Freddie and I am a new wikipedia member. I am writting up the campaign pledges of our mayor, which I think is important to record given it is an local body election year for New Zealand.

To be clear the edits I did, showed no view merely the candidates pledges. Other candidates could of course put their own pledges on wikipedia too.

Please stop removing my edit please — Preceding unsigned comment added by 101.98.226.52 (talk) 08:43, 13 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Firstly you could have responded to me using the account you made those edits with. Secondly, they were not only a point of view that was not neutral, they appeared promotional. Wikipedia isn't a soapbox, especially for any candidates in upcoming elections. I will revert them again if I feel that those edits still don't comply with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Removal of "not notable" malls in List of malls in the Philippines

[edit]

Recently i checked the page and i see something wrong. THERE IS A FEW MALLS LISTED IN CALABARZON than other reigons. There are some malls that listed like CityMall and WalterMart but WHY you removed it in Calabarzon. I go to the edit history to see who removed it and it is YOU.

Can you please revert your edit that say that it is "not notable" but you removed some malls known here in CALABARZON.

Recently you had an edit war in that page saying that SM Seaside Cebu is the 3rd largest mall in the Philippines. Some say you are responsible for removing such important information and misleading people. So please hear other editors what they say and please dont underestimate them. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 161.49.179.178 (talk) 01:00, 17 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • If those malls are notable (and have articles) then they can be listed otherwise they should not be. If a mall is the 3rd largest in the Philippines then it should be reliably sourced. I shall not be reverting any of my own edits. Ajf773 (talk) 02:00, 17 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not use this language in your edit " what the fuck is this"

[edit]

Wikipedia:Civility

There is no need to swear, instead just write in simple words describing what your issue is

"what the fuck is this" is completely unacceptable language

I appreciate that you take the time to make (usually) constructive edits but it is extremely unhelpful if this is all the comment says , what the fuck is this ? . Your point may be valid but I have no idea

This was your edit on the Air Kiribati page ..... 09:43, 31 October 2019‎ Ajf773 talk contribs‎ 27,448 bytes -480‎ →‎Regional Airline Competition: what the fuck is this

Islandqueen1980 (talk) 10:42, 31 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Then your profanity is even more unacceptable, I am new to wikipedia (which I explain on my talk page) and you should be encouraging new editors not swearing at them , other editors are providing useful guidance which is highly appreciated and helping me find my way, you are not: this is evident with your counter comment " non compliant with the guidelines and policies of Wikipedia" which is extremely vague, other editors have given specific references e.g. Wikipedia:Civility for your profanity.

Reverts on Mogappair

[edit]

I would like to inform you that the previous edits made to the page Mogappair have been made by a certain group of people or so called editors which is morally and ethically injustice to the residents of that locality. I was not engaged in an edit war with you. I was trying to provide the accurate data, with citations, which you do not accept. It is not my belief, it is the real facts provided about my town. Some people are trying to vandalise the history and etymology of my town and you are believing them to be true. I would also like to tell you that the residents of Mogappair have been upset about this. We all know that wikipedia is a place where all people share their ideas with proper factual data, but you are allowing the other vandalisers to play with this page, which disrespects the people of my town. Most of the editors from my locality and who know about my place are against your revert done to Mogappair.

I finally request you top stop reverting the entire data which is being presented, please understand the importance of our locality and its people. Do not threaten us. User:Vijaiya Raghavan(talk) —Preceding undated comment added 08:04, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • First of all, don't edit my user page again as you did a few days ago. And secondly, with that edit directly me to the Mogappair edits which I removed them because they are not encyclopedic. I gave very clear reasons in the edit summary why they were reverted. You undid them without providing a good enough counterargument. You did not use the article talk page to discuss them with me or other editors. I couldn't care less if they are factual, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia with specific policies and guidelines. It's not a platform to acknowledge the residents of your town. The next time you revert your changes, without further discussion, you will be reported for edit warring. Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!

[edit]

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

Thanks for cleaning that up, I wasn't sure what was and wasn't appropriate for transport routes. If you have an eye for this kind of thing, it looks like the content originated from the sockpuppet user outlined at User:TheSLEEVEmonkey/sandbox#East_London_sockpuppet_damage_restoration_project, so there's likely to be similar content on other east London articles that they've edited. --Lord Belbury (talk) 10:26, 28 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Northlands Shopping Centre

[edit]

Hi Ajf773 (talk) need some help on a wiki page i am creating on Northlands Shopping Centre, there are 2 issues 1. Kiwi Property Group wiki page says it was setup in 1992 and acquired New Zealand Land Limited in 1994; which held a total portfolio of nine properties. but cant find any source to substantiate it, while creating the shopping centre page, can you help in getting any reference? 2. It is safe to deduce that Kiwi property setup in 1992 acquired the shopping centre from New Zealand Land Limited in 1994, so will it be proper to use this link [1] in history section since there are no other sources. please help and thanks in advance.Joydeep ghosh (talk) 07:29, 29 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, I see you are updating links following the renaming of our state highways. I've made a template that could speed this up; this produces the abbreviated form of a state highway, e.g. "SH 1". The X Factor

[edit]

As I commented on the deletion discussion, the acts' redirects (such as Ryan Lawrie, Acacia & Aaliyah, amongst the hundreds of others) must be taken care of. Apologies for posting in the wrong place before, I'm still figuring out how to work this platform. Anyway, why did you revert my post on the Wellington page where I mentioned the city being the largest south of the 40th Parallel. You mentioned that the information was trivial, but surely this information is less trivial than the information right after stating that it has a temperate climate (which it shares with thousands of cities). Also, the Argentine city Comodoro Rivadavia's page mentions that it is the largest south of the 45th Parallel?

October 2021

[edit]

Hello, are you sure about that? Did you even check Cartoonito wikipedia page? Because this is in the History section the word "The brand reenters the market later in late November 2021 via the Southeast Asian Cartoon Network, with an additional of this programming block on its streaming service HBO GO." I know Cartoonito might launch in 2022 in Latin America and Asia since it is written in the about page of the official Cartoonito YouTube Channel, and how is that unsourced? Please make sure to check twice because I believe that what are your doing might be considered vandalism. Please double check. Aspireph30 (talk) 05:42, 9 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Timaru Edit Revised

[edit]

Why did you undo my deletion of the second Timaru climate box?

The first box references NIWA data (NZ official climate agency). The second box (which I deleted) references "Climate-Data.org". They do not run stations in Timaru, or NZ for that matter. They base their data off climate modelling which is less accurate. Their data can be a good proxy if no official station is located in the area, but in this case it is. Therefore including both sets of data redundant at best and misleading at worst.

Thanks

[edit]

Apparently being blocked from editing a page even removes the thank function, so allow me to thank you personally for removing that stuff from the Convoy page. --Pokelova (talk) 10:10, 19 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah normally I would have let it go but with the scale of the edit I worried that the longer it was left the more potentially difficult it could be to reverse the damage. --Pokelova (talk) 10:18, 19 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Next General Election Retiring MPs

[edit]

Hello - If that specific section is not for retiring MPs, then where would you put it for MPs retiring during the term? Maybe you could make another specific box? — Preceding unsigned comment added by ConcordeAAIB (talkcontribs) 03:49, 29 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

New Page Reviewing

[edit]
Hello, Ajf773.

I've seen you editing recently and you seem like an experienced Wikipedia editor.
Would you please consider applying to become a New Page Reviewer? Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time but it requires a good understanding of Wikipedia policies and guidelines; currently Wikipedia needs experienced users at this task. But kindly read the tutorial before making your decision. Thanks. MB 13:41, 30 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed you seem to have an interest in List articles. There are many new lists created and you could help reviewing them specifically. MB 13:41, 30 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Closing of Articles for deletion

[edit]

Per Articles for deletion#Wikietiquette, you should not be closing AfDs in which you have an involvement. Only an editor who has had no involvement in the discussion can perform this. Bohnbeamer (talk) 03:19, 28 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Bohnbeamer: (for someone with just five edits to their name) you should be aware that the AfD was created by me, and legitimately withdrawn. The outcome is leading to a redirect, and was supported by the article's author. Ajf773 (talk) 19:49, 28 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Another attempt (as I don't quite see what else I could do...)

[edit]

I fear that very likely nobody will have cause to look into my talk page. For this reason this new attempt to contact you here, Ajf773.

Reverted edits on MiWay page

[edit]

Hello, I did make those edits, and I do have a few sources for most of these edits. 1739 is currently shown as active on the tracker on route 20: Rathburn. 1359, the XD60, since having caught fire was returned to service, was recently logged on the tracker on May 11, 2023 on route 42 Derry. The clarification of retired units for 2003, 05 D40LFs can be cited once I receive citeable materiel from one of my transit operator friends and a few other people who know the system well. Same goes for the clarification of in active service numbers for our new 2022 XDE40 and 60s. Miway.photos (talk) 14:22, 3 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Would the CPTDB wiki also be a reliable source? The forum counterpart has a system where edits are to be made by trusted editors and suggestions for edits must be be accompanied by a source. Miway.photos (talk) 14:34, 3 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to an in-person meetup in Mohua / Golden Bay

[edit]
Golden Bay Air are holding some seats for us until 21 November

Thinking about your summer break? Think about joining other Wikipedians and Wikimedians in Golden Bay / Mohua! Details are on the meetup page. There's heaps of interesting stuff to work on e.g. the oldest extant waka or New Zealand's oldest ongoing legal case. Or you may spend your time taking photos and then upload them.

Golden Bay is hard to get to and the airline flying into Tākaka uses small planes, so we are holding some seats from and to Wellington and we are offering attendees a $200 travel subsidy to help with costs.

Be in touch with Schwede66 if this event interests you and you'd like to discuss logistics. Schwede66 09:14, 13 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation

[edit]
Hello Ajf773, we need experienced volunteers.
  • New Page Patrol is currently struggling to keep up with the influx of new articles. We could use a few extra hands on deck if you think you can help.
  • Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time but it requires a good understanding of Wikipedia policies and guidelines; Wikipedia needs experienced users to perform this task and there are precious few with the appropriate skills. Even a couple reviews a day can make a huge difference.
  • Kindly read the tutorial before making your decision (if it looks daunting, don't worry, it basically boils down to checking CSD, notability, and title). If this looks like something that you can do, please consider joining us.
  • If you would like to join the project and help out, please see the granting conditions. You can apply for the user-right HERE.
  • If you have questions, please feel free to drop a message at the reviewer's discussion board.
  • Cheers, and hope to see you around.

Abellio London

[edit]

Hi,

Here's a quick favour: Can you please move the page "Abellio London" to "Transport UK London Bus" and fix the links mentioning Abellio London as they are supposedly rebranding on 3rd February as it would kind of be too much of a job for me to handle. If it's fine on your side then go for it. Thanks — Pedroperezhumberto (talk) 11:07, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

revert?

[edit]

Hi, may I ask why you reverted this edit? There is a big billboard on the side of the motorway that has the SH-19 shield. At a community event last year, staff from the construction company also noted that it will be a state highway, since it's managed by Waka Kotahi, rather than the local council --Кайл55 (talk) 07:54, 28 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • State Highway 19 has not been formally been gazetted yet, despite some NZTA signage around the work sites showing the shield that gives some indication that it will become that designation. There seems to no sources confirming the state highway designation, neither on the NZTA official website nor on media. I feel we need to hold back until this is confirmed by reliable sources. See Talk:Penlink as this was also discussed here. Ajf773 (talk) 09:37, 28 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the explaination, I've replied on the page you linked to. Appologies for the delayed response, I still haven't figured out how to set up notifications for replies --Кайл55 (talk) 09:08, 31 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

1News

[edit]

In 2018 you placed a original research notice on the article which is now 1News. The article has been substantially changed since then, with many references added, and there has been no discussion about original research on the talk page. I have removed the template. If you still think there is a problem on the page, please identify it with an inline tag on specific statements rather than the tag on the whole article.-Gadfium (talk) 03:36, 19 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
