Happy Sunday![edit]

Hello Ahola! How are you doing today? Happy Sunday. Just want to drop by and say hi. I noticed you've started making useful contributions and would love to commend your efforts. I have just one hint, try leaving a summary of your edit in the box that appears at the bottom of the edit box (on source editor) or on the pop-up that appears (on visual editor). Continue the great work and happy editing. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 13:49, 12 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so much, i sure will! Happy Sunday. Can you please help me? how can i successfully add a picture i don't own? Ahola .O (talk) 14:29, 12 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Ahola .O I'm so sorry, I don't know how I managed to miss this your reply. I was just doing routine patrols and saw that you actually replied to my message. I guess you should ping me next time. Adding images to Wikipedia is under the condition of the copyright status of the image in question. When you know the copyright status of an image, say the image is under a free license like Creative Commons, Free Art license or GNU's Not Unix! license, then you can upload it to Wikimedia Commons. Take a look at this page for examples of free license that a media can have before it can be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons: Wikipedia:File copyright tags/Free licenses.
There's also fair use and non-free content. These types of images are the one you are not the owner of, or rather, you didn't create. For example, an image of Abiodun Koya which you found on the internet or in a book/journal publication, etc., can only be uploaded to Wikipedia (not Wikimedia Commons) as fair use because you didn't create the image. And before uploading such image, there must be a reason why you are uploading it, in fact, there must be an already existing Wikipedia article that needs that image, it cannot/shouldn't be uploaded when there is no use case. See how User:CallieRyan uploaded this picture of Adekunle Fajuyi that they found in a "document at the Abuja Cultural Center" and see how they properly licensed it: File:Fajuyi-Adekunle.JPG. All these, according to my understanding, applies to covers of a book or something of that like.
You generally should not upload images you did not create, if you must, then it can only be uploaded to Wikipedia via WP:FUW and needs to have an already existing Wikipedia article that needs it, and it must be properly licensed.
I will leave you with useful links to help you level your understanding.
Hope this helps. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 21:41, 17 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks a lot. Ahola .O (talk) 12:00, 30 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
still having problems with this. Ahola .O (talk) 09:43, 13 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You obviously still do. Did you try reading the links I gave you above. It doesn’t appear you attempted reading any of them at all. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 19:57, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have been reading it over and over trust me. Can I upload photos from social media on Wikipedia commons? Ahola .O (talk) 07:30, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A barnstar for you![edit]

Thank you for creating Banji Oyelaran-Oyeyinka, you did a nice job there, you know. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 08:51, 3 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Adding stubs[edit]

Hi Ahola .O, I noticed that you added stub categories manually in the article Chess in Slums Africa, so I just wanted to give you a heads up that Stub categories should only be added by templates, as explained at Wikipedia:Stub. These templates automatically add any relevant stub categories. If you check the article, you will see that even after I removed the manually added stubs, the article is still included in both of those stub categories because of the template you added. Cmr08 (talk) 16:40, 21 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Okay thanks so much, Understood. Ahola .O (talk) 17:59, 21 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Cmr08 After your edits, you didn't review the page. Is there any other issue? Ahola .O (talk) 18:03, 21 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Ahola .O, I'm not a reviewer, so I can't mark the page as reviewed. I just cleanup categories and manual of style edits when I come across them, like headers or layout errors. Cmr08 (talk) 22:29, 21 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sourcing articles![edit]

Hi @Ahola .O, and thanks for your great contributions especially to one of the 'deprecated' places in the world. While reviewing Calabar Chic, I saw you added spam links and unreliable sources that doesn't meet WP:RS. You may like to see the sources listed at WP:NGRS. Also avoid all those sources that will say, "Biography of ...." Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 01:35, 13 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Archiving your talk page[edit]

I will advise you install an easy one click archiver that will help you even select the ones you want to store at your archive. The script is User:Elli/OneClickArchiver, and do well to follow the easy instructions here. Thanks and stay well. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 13:39, 13 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you…[edit]

…for creating Marina Resort. I visited there yesterday and found out that a lot of renovations has been implemented in a private-partnership venture. Do you think you can find sources for this? Best, Reading Beans 10:30, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Most definately, I will check the web for updates and take live pictures myself. Thanks for your visitation, I believe you had a great time. We can work on this together if you will be around for a while, and we can improve the Slave History Museum page too. Ahola .O (talk) 11:48, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Calabar Chic in an interview WithChude.webp requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a copyright violation of https://chudesblog.com/i-attempted-suicide-because-i-hated-myself-stephanie-calabar-chic-isuma/ and has no credible claim of fair use or permission. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Replaceable non-free use File:Women selling at Watt market.webp[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Women selling at Watt market.webp. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of non-free use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of non-free use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable non-free use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable non-free use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file's talk page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 14:25, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free images[edit]

Use of non-free images (or any content) must meet all of the non-free content criteria. In particular, the two market images you uploaded do not meet WP:NFCC#1 which is about replacebility with free images. The article has two free images so there are already free images. And as the market is a going concern, additional free images can be created by anybody going to the market, taking a ohoto and releasing it under a free license. -- Whpq (talk) 15:43, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Alright, thanks. I will take some photos of the market tomorrow. Ahola .O (talk) 16:19, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Calabar Chic at the 2021 CEC Hitfm Calabar.jpeg[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Calabar Chic at the 2021 CEC Hitfm Calabar.jpeg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:02, 2 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

July 2024[edit]

It appears that you have been canvassing—leaving messages on a biased choice of users' talk pages to notify them of an ongoing community decision, debate, or vote—in order to influence Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Calabar Chic. While friendly notices are allowed, they should be limited and nonpartisan in distribution and should reflect a neutral point of view. Please do not post notices which are indiscriminately cross-posted, which espouse a certain point of view or side of a debate, or which are selectively sent only to those who are believed to hold the same opinion as you. Remember to respect Wikipedia's principle of consensus-building by allowing decisions to reflect the prevailing opinion among the community at large. Thank you.
