Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia!

Someone using this IP address, 64.189.18.46, made test edits on the page Wisconsin Historical Society which have been reverted or removed. If you did this, please use the sandbox for any other tests you may want to perform. Here are some other hints and tips:

  • I recommend that you get a username. You do not have to log in to read or edit articles on Wikipedia, but creating an account is quick, free and non-intrusive, requires no personal information, and there are many benefits of having a username. (If you edit without a username, your IP address is used to identify you instead.)
  • When using talk pages, please sign your name at the end of your messages by typing four tildes (~~~~). This will automatically produce your username (or IP address) and the date.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, visit the Teahouse, our help forum for new users, or type {{helpme}} here on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome! CardboardWolf (talk) 22:05, 1 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

But it is an unreliable source! 64.189.18.46 (talk) 18:17, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please see Help:Maintenance template removal for further information on when maintenance templates should or should not be removed. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits referred to above, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so that you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

Removing material lacking citations

[edit]

I notice you've been removing a lot of information tagged with the 'citation needed' template. The missing source seems to be the only thing wrong with a lot of the information you've been deleting. Rather than blindly removing material for want of a source, the better practice - that is, one that builds a better encyclopedia - would be to spend a few minutes trying to locate a source that supports the claim. Here, for example, another editor found a source for the material you would have deleted if the page hadn't been semi-protected.

Also please use edit summaries so that people know what you're doing. It makes it a lot easier for other editors who are might want to assess the quality of your work. Thanks. JohnInDC (talk) 22:07, 30 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
