Slipknot

[edit]

The only people really active in the Iowa project is me, and one other person. I have no idea how to do peer review. Is there somewhere better you can request it, like a band or music project? Ctjf83 talk 19:28, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

Are you still going through with the FAC? Burningclean [Speak the truth!] 03:53, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

Hello, would you mind commenting on Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Alice in Chains? The FAC discussion was not closed, but it was re-started by the FA director. Fell free not to, that would be fine by me. Thank you, —Burningclean [Speak the truth!] 21:59, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

Closing an FAC

I believe you can just ask User:Raul654, who is the director of FAC, to close it for you. Good luck on the improvements! María (habla conmigo) 14:20, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

Slipknot (Album)

[edit]

Hey, fuckin' awesome job on the article so far. If there is anything particular you need (find more references, hunt down info on something or whatever) just let me know. You seem to be doing a great job, but I guess there's always room for improvment. Keep up the (sic) work. Blackngold29 (talk) 20:56, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

I added a few more quotes to your sandbox list, most of them are probably technically about the band overall, but most aply to the album as well. I've started the Lyrical Themes paragraph in my sandbox. If you have any quotes to add that would be great. Blackngold29 (talk) 18:24, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
I added the Lyrical Themes section to the article, I think it might need expanded/revised some, but it's a pretty good start. I have no books or magazines on the band so info from them may help. Whatever you need next, you know where to find me. Blackngold29 (talk) 08:07, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
The article for their debut looks good to me. What else can we add? Dark Executioner (talk) 15:48, 28 January 2008 (UTC)Dark Executioner
The only thing left to add on the "to do list" is to add a section about the live performance. There doesn't seem to be much info out there about their earlier performances, but I'm sure we can find something. Anything I find will be in my sandbox. Blackngold29 (talk) 16:47, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

Slipknot Copy-edit

[edit]

Hey, it looks as though the only major thing that needs to be done of slipknot is a copy-edit (that I noticed). It looks like a very good article (for a not so good band :P) to me. But see WP:LOCE and it will help you. the article does look good and very imformative. Peace, —Burningclean [Speak the truth!] 00:48, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

Re: Crowz

[edit]

While i do agree that Crowz was not an album, i do believe that we should at least have a mention about it in some kind of article. Like i said on the discussion page, many Slipknot fans may turn to Wikipedia to learn about it and find nothing. Wikipedia should be more reliable than that. but hey, its just my opinion. the juggreserection IstKrieg! 14:54, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

Fair enough. But it still does deserve some mention on wikipedia. Even if you hold it in regards to an internet rumour, it still does need to be mentioned in some way or another. I may agree with the fact that maybe it shouldn't be in the discography, but it nneds to have some recognition. But can you please clarify this for me? Why is the 'Crowz' release mentioned on roadrunnerrecords.com? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Metalstyle (talkcontribs) 21:56, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

Slipknot discography

[edit]

I see the list was promoted but my concerns (which were backed by Burningclean) remain unaddressed. Please create and add a B-sides table as soon as you can; remixes and live versions of songs do need to be listed. For completeness sake, all B-sides of all singles need to be added (even album cuts). indopug (talk) 22:12, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

Good job. Congrats on the FL too. indopug (talk) 04:42, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

Crowz

[edit]

Is a demo release by Slipknot, and can be found on many torrent sites all over the internet, all of which are exactly the same in terms of track listing. There is also mention of the "crowz" release on roadrunnerecords.com in the "Ask Amy" section of the website. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Metalstyle (talkcontribs) 23:25, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

im starting to think that maybe youre in denial of its existance, seeing as is you are an "obsessive" fan and maybe youre mad that other people own this particular release and you do not? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Metalstyle (talkcontribs) 03:45, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

Slipknot discography nominator

Copyedit--Slipknot

[edit]

Hi there! I saw you still need a copyedit on the Slipknot article. I'm only passingly familiar with the band, but I did see room for gramatical improvement in the article. Since your last editor seems to have left you hanging, I can give it a try, but it may take me about a week (really pressed for time right now!). SkyllaLaFey (talk) 20:44, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

Iowa - AoF

[edit]

Is there anything in particular you want me to do? I don't have time right now, but I should have some later or tomorrow. I could start puting the Reception section into paragraph form, there are some good quotes there, but it's obviously in horrible format. I suppose it couldn't hurt to add more reviews, since the Slipknot one was apparently not big enough (as to why I have no clue). Thanks! Blackngold29 (talk) 17:36, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

First revision

[edit]

Hey, I made some preliminary changes to the Slipknot article (mostly minor). I need your help to finish cleaning it up. I feel something needs to be done to remedy the fact that the second papagraph of the article is almost identical to the first paragraph of the "Influences and style" section.

I changed the sentence under "Early years" that said, "Slipknot had returned to the studio having developed new material, which was, demanded more vocal melody." It was a bit of a grammatical trainwreck(no offense). I would like to add "demanded more vocal melody" back to the revised sentence, but it needs to say demanded by who to make sense.

And in the "Image and identities" section, it says in 2004 they changed their masks to show "difference within age". I cannot figure out what that means. Can you reword that?

After I hear back from you, I will continue editing the article. Let's work together to make it look like rock fans can be smart...maybe we can get to F.A. status! SkyllaLaFey (talk) 19:04, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

---Okay, that helps. I spent 30 minutes today on the article, and none of the changes posted...do you know if the semi-protected status of the article is going to prevent me from working on it? SkyllaLaFey (talk) 20:31, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

I've pasted it into my sandbox...I promise to do some work on it this week...life has been crazy lately, but now I'm back! Any advice on fixing up that "repeat" paragraph I mentioned above? SkyllaLaFey (talk) 19:22, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Take care!

[edit]

Hi, I am posting here on Wikipedia for the last time today as this user. I have had fun editing pages here, and have met some cool people, but I'm afraid that if I didn't retire from Wikipedia today, then I'd be doing it either on or near June 26th, 2008. Why? Because I am leaving for boot camp on that day to join the U.S. Navy.

Do not feel abandoned if you are someone that I have gotten to know a little here. I'm not doing this to be a dick, only because I have to. I really don't have much time to edit here anymore, since I'm so busy getting prepared physically and taking care of the month and a half of schoolwork that I have left.

If I ever get the chance to resume editing here someday... then I will.

Until then, this is Dark Executioner's last stand. Dark Executioner (talk) 19:08, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Images

[edit]

Hi Rezter. The circumstantial evidence would suggest that you may not have correctly labeled the image "Image:Sid Wilson Slipknot.jpg" and other images you have uploaded to Commons and placed in WP articles. If you did not take the pictures yourself (I believe you would have been around 9 years old and in the wrong country at the time some of them were taken), it is unlikely you have the authority to release the pictures into the public domain as "self-made". I've made a posting at Commons, please make sure you brush up on image policy in future. Thanks, Deiz talk 02:22, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

If you can't produce permission and satisfy WP:OTRS that the images are freely licensed then the images will be deleted. You should also be very careful about uploading images in future, lest you get into trouble for breaching Wikipedia's image and copyright policies. I know "hey, nobody will mind" sounds great but the policies are crystal clear about these things. Deiz talk 12:17, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

Adopt Me!

[edit]

Please! Although I'm not into Slipknot all too much (I'm more of a Bob Dylan, The Beatles and Classic etc. fan, but I know some of the albums, and there is still Vermilion pt. 2 I listen to regularly). I'm from Hamburg, Germany, but I'm fluent in English due to my Schooling (which was all English), and am currently studying German and English Lit. and Philosophy after having studied a bit of Musicology. Lukas 21:26, 13 April 2008 (UTC) ..that's what you do, don't you?

Look at me learning! I actually have a correct signature now: Lukas (talk) 01:30, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Hey, thanks for adopting me! I'd like to make music related edits, just maybe not so much on Slipknot ;) I actually have my first question: Why can't I edit the German Wikipedia with my account? Lukas (talk) 20:57, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

Hey, look, my first very own article! What do you think of it? I'd love to hear your tips & criticism. Lukas (talk) 16:30, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

I wasn't sure how to cite anything in this article, because I took all Information from the official website which is flash based, hence no detailed links. What would you suggest? Lukas (talk) 23:42, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Hey, could you help me with the problem about the image I uploaded (check my talk)? My mom gave it to me and she allowed me to publish it under GNU. Thanks, Lukas (talk) 19:54, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

Slipknot copyedit

[edit]

Is there any update on what is going on with this? From what I can see two people have volunteered, it's been a month, and nobody has done anything. Is there a way to re-nominate it or something? Blackngold29 (talk) 02:39, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

Scartol just did a peer review on PNC Park, which I recently did a complete rewrite on. He seems to know what he's doing and was pretty through. I could ask him if he wanted to do it, even though peer edits and copy editing aren't really the same thing; he seems to have a good grasp on policy. I could ask him what he thinks? Blackngold29 (talk) 03:20, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
Actually, now that I think about it, he would be good for Slipknot (album) too, that's more up his alley. Blackngold29 (talk) 03:25, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
Left him a message about both articles, I mentioned how vague the reviewers were on what needed copyedited, and how I didn't realize that there was a minimum number of reviews needed in the reception section (which I feel is an absurd reason). He usually does articles about people, so I asked him that if he wasn't interested to let us know of anyone who may be. Hopefully we can get someone soon, I'll keep you posted. Blackngold29 (talk) 17:05, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
He said that he's too busy right now, but he gave me two names: Moni3 and Yllosubmarine, who he says are both dedicated. I could leave them a message, although I think that finding someone who concentrates on music would be better. On the Peer Review page there is a list of volunteers who do articles, I found Matthewedwards, who says he'll look at albums and singles. I left him a messege so we'll see what he says, if he does a good job we can ask him about Slipknot (band). Blackngold29 21:55, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
As you've probably noticed, he did the review. He gave some pretty picky suggestions, which is good I guess. Hopefully it won't take too long to fix everything. I asked him, if he had any spare time, to see what we might do to Slipknot (band) to get it up to FA status; I said it probably doesn't need an all-out review, as it's already a GA, but hopefully he'll be able to come up with something. I think for future articles we should try to get a peer review before nominating it for a GA. I have noticed that contacting people directly will get articles reviewed a lot quicker than just adding to the list. Blackngold29 04:13, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

Do you think it's ready to be re-nominated for GA? We've taken care of everything from the peer-review. Dihydrogen Monoxide said if we re-nominate it he'd do the review. Blackngold29 19:34, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

Edit Slipknot

[edit]

Feel free to visit my sandbox and see if you can help finish cleaning up the article. I would like your input on fixing the redundancy of the second paragraph of the article and the Influences and style section.SkyllaLaFey (talk) 19:07, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

Hey, I started a second newsletter in my sandbox, we should probably send it out soon to try to get people interested again before summer; participation has been kind of low of late. I think we should nominate both Slipknot (album) and Iowa (album) for GA pretty soon, unless you want to get a peer review on Iowa first, which might not be a bad idea. If you have any suggestions you know where to find me. Blackngold29 02:15, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

Hmm, where to start. I just did a bunch of stuff; (1) Re-nominated Slipknot (album) for GAC and asked Dihydrogen Monoxide if he'd do the review, since he said he would. (2) Did a final proof-read of Iowa (album) and asked Matthewedwards‎ if he'd do a peer review, I thought he did a good job with Slipknot and asking someone directly seems to get it done quicker than just putting it on the peer review request list. (3) Created the May newsletter page, I figured we could send it out on the 10th, unless you have another suggestion. Oh, and I figured we could end the AoF period on Iowa since it will only need minor stuff from now on. I think Vol. 3 will be the next one. Well that about sums it up. Thanks! Blackngold29 04:25, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

Hey, do you want to fix the citations on the Slipknot (album)? That's the last big thing that needs done. I think I know what he wants, but I'm not that experienced in citing multiple books like that. If you're busy or something I could try to do it in a little bit. Thanks. New newsletter

[edit]

I've started a new rough newsletter for the project, it's here. I was thinking we should include some kind of a roll call in it this time, as it's pretty obvious everyone isn't exactly making big contributions (make that "big contributions"). Perhaps something like "Add your name to this section on the talk page before that date". It just seems kind of pointless sending everyone updates if they don't care anymore. I also added a "Band news" section (I called it "(sic) news" just to be random), just to keep everyone up to date, as we're all obviously fans. Good job on the Iowa article, I think you wrote most of it; we just need some expansion on Vol. 3 and it looks like it'll be the quickes Aof yet. Blackngold29 04:43, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

All Hope Is Gone

Lol good point, although someone else posted it on youtube and i downloaded it from there. I don't agree with downloading usually especially torrenting but for some bands i can't help it. I just can't wait for Slipknot lol. Thanks Jakisbak (talk) 11:38, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
