Eternity Bible College article
[edit]Hi, Mr Bloom!
I had put an SD-G11 on the above article, then saw you'd done it previously, so removed it.
The article (despite what its author says on the talk page) looks like promotional material to me - I'm just curious about why you decided that it was not?
I had a quick look on Google, and could find no reliable hits!
As a relative novice eager to learn, I would be grateful if you would let me know what you saw that I didn't - the creator didn't convince me with his arguments on the talk page.
Regards, -- PhantomSteve (Contact Me, My Contribs) 19:00, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
- To be honest, the creator did not convince me. The article, as I felt and still feel, is promotional, but I believed that it was going to grow and assert notability like he said it was. I did not consider notability an issue at the time, because it's a school, and usually, those have articles (see WP:DEFACTO). However, as it is appears to be a private school, you bring up a good point; it may not be notable.
- The article also has not changed much since I removed the tags. I will probably prod it or take it to WP:AFD, unless you want to for the experience. Lәo(βǃʘʘɱ) 20:41, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
- I've literally got a couple of mins before I have to go out, so I'll look later. If you haven't AfD'd it when I get onto wikipedia later, I'll start the process. TBH I don't think it'll be worth PRODing it, as the creator will probably just remove the tag. I don't need the experienced (I've PROD'd and AFD'd before), but if you dont get the chance to, I'll do it tonight. Regards -- PhantomSteve (Contact Me, My Contribs) 07:06, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

Premature archival
[edit]You know me. I can never make up my mind. The main reason, though, was some trouble I had in acquiring the book about the New England Emigrant Aid Company that was to be the primary source of information. I've been preoccupied lately, but I did write a couple paragraphs on the topic I was threatening to do instead. Here's the book I mentioned.
In case you're interested - you usually are, no matter how obscure the topic - the chapter "Guillotine: The Jacobins Remove the Ancien Regime" is quite an appropriate title; it's about Goldwater's convention and the official removal of the Rockefeller Republicans from power. Probably not worth wasting your preview pages on; the same goes for the "Rise of Goldwater" chapter. That one is about people like Robert Taft and is summed up in the Background section I wrote. And yes, {{page number}}. I'll do that and cover the stuff in the "Goldwater Ambivalence" chapter when I can. I also have a few more books to sift through and extract information from. I keep coming back to Hurrah though. Here's something for you to digest when you get back.
The picture on this cover is somehow Palinesque to me. The image issues he had in his lifetime were in a different ballpark from hers though. Recognizance (talk) 06:08, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
- It's obvious I cannot leave, or you go stir crazy and leave long ramblings on my talk. Work on NEEAC, and I'm content; feel free to do whatever to your other stuff. Lәo(βǃʘʘɱ) 06:06, 8 August 2009 (UTC)

Get out of my sandbox/post-it note area. Anyway, we have a formatting emergency. See Republican Party (United States) presidential primaries, 1968. Recognizance (talk) 09:05, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
Actually, I don't know if you can call it an emergency when it's something that doesn't apply to Firefox and has apparently been that way since March 2008(?) at any rate. But try looking at the page in Chrome. Recognizance (talk) 09:07, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

[edit]Thanks for your oldid additions to GA templates. I recommend just changing to Template:ArticleHistory, which can be used to integrate multiple actions (peer reviews, featured X candidacy, AfD discussions, etc.). Regards, Dabomb87 (talk) 18:46, 13 August 2009 (UTC)

[edit]Hey,
The new page patrol script now natively supports the vector skin. You can switch to the original one if you want.

Orphaned non-free media (File:ALF.jpg)
[edit] Thanks for uploading File:ALF.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Three Months
[edit]Hi Leo. Well, I'm not going to lie, I've been watching your edits for quite some time now and frankly I do like what I see.
However, I will be on Wikibreak until December. From now until then, I'm hoping to see that you keep up (improving if you can) your quality edits, ensure that your csd taggings and afd nominations are correct, and fix the issues noted in your previous rfas. If you do this for the next three months, you'll have my nomination. Please consider it. Best, A signed out Fastily. -24.4.249.48 (talk) 00:07, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

- Great!! Some tips to follow for the next few months to help ensure a successful rfa:
- Join discussions whenever relevant. We like to see people with a history of adding meaningful points to discussions.
- Show that you understand consensus. Maybe perform some non-admin closures of xfd's.
- Will you be working with files? You MUST (no exceptions) have a thorough understanding of WP:NFCC, WP:NFC, WP:IUP, ect. Rfa voters will be looking for this understanding.
- Working with Articles? Rfa participants like to see candinates with at least one GA or FA under their belts.
- Working in CSD? You MUST have an extremely low number of mistaggings. Some users will scour your edits searching for mistaggings and use those to sink your rfa (This has happened too many times in the past...).
- Don't use automated tools (i.e. WP:HG, WP:AWB, WP:FURME, WP:TW) too often. Some users look down on this and will !vote oppose solely because of that.
- You MUST be civil towards all users and yes, that includes disruptive users.
- Participate in the "WP:" pages/discussions of the project whenever possible. Rfa participants will check to see that you understand the what goes on in the inner workings of the project.
- I'll try to take a look at your contribs every once in awhile when the opportunity presents itself and give you some advice if you need it but...beyond that, T–3 months. Make the best of it! Regards, FASTILY (TALK) 20:48, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

Hey, sorry, I wasn't really trying to make an end run around WP:AFC (I didn't even know there was a sub-R page, good to know!). I originally tried to expand Death panel but no one liked that idea, believing panels deciding life and death to be purely the fantasy of Sarah Palin (as opposed to the real life panels which do exist I as have since detailed at List of panels making life or death decisions). Anyway, if I'd known there was going to be such a fuss, I would have figured out a better title and submitted it all to WP:AFC directly. Sorry again, but keep up the good work. -- 209.6.238.201 (talk) 23:09, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

Question about member
[edit]So I was doing some recent changes patrol (fun I know), and found this chap here. http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/User:Spoisp.
It seems all his contributions has been going around changing the references to Abortion and sneakily redirecting it to Feticide. For example look here ..
[[abortion]] BECOMES [[feticide|abortion]]
It seems like he's someone who is anti-abortion who wants to redirect all abortion links to a criminal definition of the word .. So what can a wikipedian do about this? Vishnu2011 (talk) 03:39, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
