Alban Désiré Afène is a novelist, poet, and short story writer of Gabonese descent. His debut novel, "Essola," was released by L'Harmattan in France in September 2009 and explores the validity of ancestral religious practices and their connection to mainstream religions. The rest of his works have been self-published on Amazon. Afène mainly writes in French, but in December 2024, he released his first novel in English, titled "Lies and the scent of roses."
Biography
[edit]Alban Désiré Afène was born on March 5, 1972, in Port Gentil, Gabon. He was raised in Libreville but spent a considerable portion of his adult life living abroad. Initially, he began his academic journey by enrolling in a Law program at Pierre Mendès University in Grenoble[2] in 1991; however, he subsequently shifted his focus to Political Science at the University of Quebec in Montreal after relocating to Canada in 1994. In 2000, he returned to Gabon to take on a role in the Sales and Marketing Department of Gabon Telecom's inaugural mobile phone division, which is currently known as Moov Africa. In 2010, he relocated to the United States and devoted himself to his writing pursuits.
