Spacing

[edit]

This template seems to delete any spaces in front of it.

I can't see why. Any ideas for how to fix it?   Will Beback  talk  23:43, 15 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It seems to be the problem of

<span class="plainlinks userlinks">Example User}}}|{} (Example User}}}|talk · Example User}}}|contribs · Example User}}}|deleted contribs · [{{fullurl:Special:Log|user={{urlencode:{}}}}} logs] · [{{fullurl:Special:AbuseLog|?title=Special:AbuseLog&wpSearchUser={{urlencode:{}}}}} abuse log] · Example User}}}|block user · [{{fullurl:Special:Log|type=block&page=User:{{urlencode:{}}}}} block log])</span><noinclude>documentation<!--Please add any interwiki links etc on the /doc page, not here - thanks!--></noinclude>

should work. editprotected Please change the template to the above. —MC10|Sign here! 21:24, 21 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Vandal failure?

[edit]

The following username seems to defeat this template: resolves as User-multi error: no username detected (help).. Confused. --Tagishsimon (talk) 09:13, 21 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Try or , which renders as Jbuds 876876=7 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) and Jbuds 876876=7 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log). The second solution is probably the best general solution. An alternative would be to add an optional 'user' field, and use . Edit request

[edit]

Add nuke contribs to the list of links, as some vandals (example) create pages very quickly, and regularly deleting them can be slow. →Στc. 05:23, 5 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

plus Added — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 07:54, 5 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
But the syntax Special:Nuke/{} does not work as the parameter is not used. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 08:24, 5 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Separator character

[edit]

Maybe a bit pedantic, but could the separator dot please be put in bold every time it appears? The display at WP:AIV looks a mess, because this template uses a tiny (non-bold) dot, and IPvandal uses a huge bullet. The suggested character is a compromise. — This, that, and the other (talk) 10:08, 22 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

 Done I used (which is currently equivalent to ·) to match templates such as user. Anomie 00:12, 23 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Amended documentation

[edit]

After the second instance in a week where someone has used this template with the name of a non-vandal user inserted, I have added to the template documentation to say that it is only intended to be used for reporting vandals. You'd think that would be obvious, but..... --Elen of the Roads (talk) 01:44, 11 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Please replace the following code (which is at the very beginning):

<includeonly><span class="plainlinks userlinks">{{noping|{}}}

with this code:

<includeonly><span class="plainlinks userlinks">{{no ping|{}}}

This is simply to avoid using a redirect on this template and on the other pages transcluding it.

(See WP:NOTBROKEN, which includes the following: "In other namespaces, particularly the template and portal namespaces in which subpages are common, any link or transclusion to a former page title that has become a redirect following a page move should be updated to the new title for naming consistency.") [edit]

When using this template for an IP address, the link to www.robtex.com labelled "RBLs" is broken ("404 not found"). For example:

50.249.237.49
50.249.237.49 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log)

@Archer1234 Just to confirm, it is this page it should link to? If so it would be super easy to just fix this right now. --Trialpears (talk) 13:25, 20 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Trialpears, I think so. It appears that the "DNSBL" section at that page is where any indication that the IP address was blacklisted would appear. So, the anchor #dnsbl would be appropriate to append to the URL. — Archer1234 (t·c) 13:44, 20 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
