The country of birth is not "Costa Marfi" or "Costa Marfil"..the correct name is "Ivory Coast" or Cote d'Ivoire". This correction applies to ALL Ivory Coast players.

(Costa de marfil is the name of the Ivory Coast in Spanish, but the country's official language is French. In English speaking arenas, the country has been designated by the names "Cote d'Ivoire" or "Ivory Coast". The Ivory Coast has no historic link whatsoever with Spain.) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.185.66.58 (talkcontribs)

And since Wikipedia notes the national team at Cote d'Ivoire, let's keep it that way. Nicely spotted. Bobo. 05:44, 1 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Height

[edit]

How tall is Toure? His height is listed on Goal.com as 187cm, while on his official FCB profile he's listed as 1.91. I updated it to the most recent profile (that of FCB, thus 1.91), but am not sure about the standard for judging height. Isaiah 02:58, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Serial rapist"

[edit]

Uhhh, I'm no football expert, but what's this about under the "Olympiacos" section?

Touré then moved to Olympiacos in 2005 after being discovered as serial rapist by the Greek scout from Bexlekos, Matthew Taylor.

I'm pretty sure without even a citation, that could be considered slanderous. It doesn't make sense in the sentence anyway so I'm taking it out. Jentizzle (talk) 14:34, 10 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Man City?

[edit]

I found it rather odd and definitely jarring when I read he is "an Ivorian footballer who currently plays for Man City". If we are going to be encyclopedic, we don't want unnecessarily abbreviated names. Changed it to "an Ivorian footballer who currently plays for Manchester City".
