Paulo da Silva

[edit]

Hello! Do you perhaps know how many official appearances does Paulo da Silva have? The Spanish article (link here) includes him with 1005 matches, but the known DBs, e.g. oGol, still show him far from the threshold. Kind regards, Lorry Gundersen (talk) 17:04, 24 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Do you know any source for his matches for Club 12 de Junio? He probably played there 8 times (Italian WP), but I couldn't find a source with a number, only that he played for the club and later went to Atlántida, which is the club he started football, i.e. for his last season for real this time as a player before retiring. For the latter I have this, which has references in AFA's site with lineups (one can count 8 matches till now, as the league is still ongoing), but for Club 12 de Junio for Primera División B Nacional 2023 (Paraguay) I couldn't find any source (WP has only results). P.S. I. Nonetheless, even without those 8 matches, he has passed 1,000 official matches and will be added as soon as possible to the list. P.S. II. Maybe you should consider archiving in the talk section, because at the moment it is not navigable. Kind regards, Lorry Gundersen (talk) 17:19, 17 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Well, some brief, hoping you can help; apart from his numbers for 12 de junio, I am also missing lineups for two matches for Toluca; the one on 9 January 2004 (Chivas Guadalajara 1–2 Toluca) and the one on 11 January 2004 (Toluca 1–2 Santos Laguna) for the InterLiga 2004 group stage, where he most likely played, taken into account he played on the first of the three matches Toluca played there that year/season (while I have found a reference for that one only and also for all the matches he played in the next InterLiga editions, I couldn't find any for those two matches). By the way, there is an archived link of the site of the tournament, but, unfortunately, without archived links for the lineups (direct link here). Tell me if you know or can find a reliable source for lineups for these matches... I also found nothing about his numbers for Presidente Hayes, Sport Colombia and Perugia; while it's likely he never made an official appearance for Perugia or played only in the youth sector, even though WP claims at least 2 league matches in the infobox, I am pretty sure he has matches for Presidente Hayes and/or Sport Colombia, even though I am not positive I will find any references because Paraguay has a small population (well, compared to other South American countries) and it's football is not known (well, like Brazil's, Argentina's, Colombia's or Uruguay's). P.S. Talking of football from Paraguay, I have also in mind to check in the future Roque Santa Cruz and Óscar Cardozo, who both may also have reached, or nearing there, a thousand of official matches. Kind regards, Lorry Gundersen (talk) 08:25, 19 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! I have added Paulo da Silva to the list with the majority of his number of matches found (matches for Presidente Hayes and Sport Colombia only missing), but, noticing he doesn't have a career statistics' tables on his WP bio-article, both club and international lacking from the article, and having noticed you often complete the career statistics, if you could create such tables, it would be really helpful. Edin Džeko

[edit]

Hello! Yes, I know he is close, as I very recently made a check of players who are near to the milestone (in fact, I checked the numbers of players who have near 960 matches and above, i.e. from Jesús Navas), but there is some time before following his matches. In fact, after Ivan Rakitić, who could have reached 1,000 matches easily by now if he hadn't been injured, I think the next one to reach first 1,000 matches, before Edin Džeko, would be Robert Lewandowski, taken into he has more upcoming matches than the rest players who are close (Poland will play at the finals of the Euro, BiH no). Kind regards, Lorry Gundersen (talk) 09:52, 30 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello!

How are you? Hope everything is ok!

First, I must say I am going to add Edin Džeko to the list of men's footballers with the most official appearances as I have him with a total of 1,000 matches at present or even 1,001, depending on one extra match in WP I am missing a source for.

That said, Edin Džeko has 5 matches (1 goal) for Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) U21 in his bio-article in WP, i.e. in the infobox, but I could only find he had played in 4 matches (1 goal), e.g. from WF and BeSoccer. Do you, perhaps, know, or can you find, any reliable reference that he has played 5 matches for BiH U21 instead of 4?

P.S. Just noting that if there was an additional match he played for BiH U21, it's very likely this had been against the senior team, as it appears there is a friendly charity match taken place between these two (see here), which would still be legit, i.e. count as official friendly for the U21 team, even though it's unofficial for the senior team.

Kind regards,

Lorry Gundersen (talk) 16:48, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again!

This extra match online appeared only in one known relative media oulet (Klix.ba – fourth most visited) and chronically only after if was made as an edit by a removed only IP address user (see here and here), while in others it's mentioned as four matches played, even in recent ones, e.g. see here, so I decided to revert it.

Obviously, one can make it again 5 if (s)he can find a legit ref to justify 5 matches for BiH U21.

By the way, there are also bibliography sources which people cannot view, but there is none such on the article, so that this total could be coming from there, just saying...

Of course, in case you have any objections to being reverted, please feel free to tell me why...

Kind regards,

Hello! Apparently, it's Edin Džeko v2 – it seems he actually has 999 matches or even fewer at present, as I hadn't noticed before, but I am missing references at the moment, and I hope it's only for the time being, i.e. there are still places on the web to look, for the national cup matches (well, meaning for the numbers he has in his WP bio-article) for Željezničar, specifically 6 matches (1 goal) and for Ústí nad Labem, i.e. 4 matches (2 goals), because I had the wrong impression the known DBs had them, my bad, and it's 999 instead of 1,000 because Teplice, for which I found national cup matches stats, has totals 47 (16 goals) instead of the 48 (17 goals) his WP article has on the clubs' career table, with the difference being 2 matches (0 goals) instead of 3 matches (1 goal) in national cups; refs: [1], [2] and [3]. Martin Peters

[edit]

Hello! Just informing if you can help, that Martin Peters has probably at least 1,000 official appearances if his numbers for Gorleston can be found. I updated his numbers for England U23 & England Youth, and at the moment without matches for Gorleston has 988 appearances. Kind regards, Lorry Gundersen (talk) 02:22, 18 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Émerson Leão

[edit]

Hello! Just informing if you can help, that Émerson Leão has probably at least 1,000 official appearances if his numbers for São José, Comercial and more for Sport (oGol has only 1 match) can be found. CBF recognizes 105 matches instead of 81, e.g. see here a related publication, 105 seems is also the total Brazilian clubs recognize for his numbers for Brazil (he most likely has matches for Brazil under-X teams in those 105 - this can be clearly seen, for instance, here, where one can undertand 82 for the senior team and 105 in total for all), so the total from 917 oGol (direct link here) has goes up to 942, but he most likely has 179 for Gremio instead of 180, based on his Gremiopedia profile, which I trust more, even though a pedia, so let's say 941, then, from his player profile from Verdazzo, we have 11 more matches for Palmeiras (I have a total of 530 after removing matches that had amistoso tag and those with name of tournament, but that were friendly tournaments, and other removed for other reason(s), e.g. like Torneio Inicio, which may have not been unofficial, but matches had 20 to 30 minutes duration, et c.), hence 952 total, then maybe plus 4 (haven't checked if these extra 4 matches were friendly ones) for Corinthians (ref here) we go up to total 956, otherwise 952. In any way, there may be 48 matches for São José, Comercial and Sport do Recife, taken into account how many years/seasons he played. Also, is it only 92 for Vasco, there may be more, needs checking. I don't know any site for statistics per player for this club, perhaps you do? From the site of the club, I could only find this. Neville Southall

[edit]

Hello! Just informing if you can help, that Neville Southall has definitely made at least 1,000 official appearances, if numbers prior to Bury are found. P.S. I know I have addressed this before, but it's a repetition in case new data came to light. Kind regards, Lorry Gundersen (talk) 02:22, 18 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
