Problem with neutrality and notability

[edit]

This is a well written article, but I wonder if this person is notable enough to deserve an article about. Being awarded the distinguished flying cross is indeed very honorable, as is serving as a bomber group commander in the war, but those accomplishments are not in themselves enough to deserve an encyclopedic entry. Many people were awarded the DFC, and many served as group leaders; it seems unbalanced for William Brill to deserve a special article. Furthermore, I wonder if a similar pilot and officer from, say, the Chinese people's liberation army Air Force, would be found deserving of an equal article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kot8 (talkcontribs) 07:42, 17 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

This is far from the only Wikipedia article on an Australian aviator and awarded veteran. Brutannica (talk) 14:29, 17 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Kot8 - notability isn't about whether someone is "deserving" or not (something which is obviously subjective at any rate), it rests on whether they have received significant coverage in reliable sources independent of the subject per WP:GNG. Clearly Brill HAS received a large amount of coverage and therefore meets the requirement. If "similar pilots and officers" from the Chinese air force have also been written about as extensively as Brill and you are willing to donate your time to write articles on them then I encourage you to do so.
