Contested deletion

[edit]

This page should not be speedy deleted because it is very helpful and reliable. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.45.82.71 (talk) 11:10, 9 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Is it right to add such Allegations/Controversies on a biography when nothing has been proved yet.

[edit]

In the section Controversies there are two different allegations 1. 2G Spectrum Scam and Contempt of Court & 2. Securities and Exchange Board of India Ban

Both cases are still under judiciary and nothing has been proved yet. In contempt of the court case Senior Advocate K K Venugopal said on behalf of the CBI that: “Evidence found till now is insufficient” Reference: http://post.jagran.com/2g-case-cbi-examines-radia-others-in-allegation-against-sahara-1310403191 . In case of SEBI ban, Supreme Court of india on 15th July 2011 granted a stay on market regulator SEBI’s order of June 23, 2011 that ordered Sahara Group companies to return the money raised through optionally fully convertible debentures (OFCD). Reference: http://profit.ndtv.com/news/show/sc-directs-sahara-to-approach-sat-against-sebi-order-on-ofcds-164375

So according to me it is unfair to write about these Allegations/Controversies on a biography when nothing has been proved yet. I would like to request all contributors to put your views forward on this issue.--Mukulsaurabh (talk) 04:59, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have been following both the cases and am also the major contributor to the said article. In my opinion, both the cases mentioned under section Controversies are still in court of law and has not been proven, hence at this point including the section to the biography will be unfair to the person whose biography is this. Experience

[edit]

In the page it says he started his journey with Sahara in 1978 ie he was only 30yrs old at that time. Further the same section comments that at that point he had an experience of 32yrs in Business Development. To me it seems like a typo, can someone correct that?115.254.25.18 (talk) 16:09, 24 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Page protection

[edit]

I've now protected this article. I've also rolled back the most recent edit. This is NOT to say that the version that I've put it on is an 'approved' version, but the last edit, though containing some sources, was more likely to breach WP:BLP and WP:UNDUE. You need to find a balance between not reporting it at all, and completely overloading the article. GedUK  12:09, 11 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

1 -The person's religion is unsourced. As per WP:CAT/R, Categories regarding religious beliefs of a living person should not be used unless the subject has publicly self-identified with the belief in question, either through direct speech or through actions like serving in an official clerical position for the religion. So the category "Indian Hindus" should be removed and the Ethnicity in Infobox should be changed to "Bengali".

2 - The honorific Sri in front of his father's name Sudhir Chandra Roy in the Early life sub-section should be removed. Thanks --Neelkamala (talk) 11:27, 12 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Controversy

[edit]

Hello, I'm Anup and I've boldly deleted the controversy section. The controversy section included these texts,

The wedding of his sons Seemanto Roy and Sushanto Roy, held during February, 10-14, 2004 in Sahara, Lucknow, is said to have cost $128 million, one of the most expensive ever.[1][2]

Sahara Group chief Subrata Roy was on Friday sent to police custody till March 4, 2014 hours after he was arrested by the Uttar Pradesh police.

Mr. Roy surrendered before the police on Friday morning, two days after the Supreme Court issued a non-bailable warrant against him for failing to refund Rs. 20,000 crore to investors.

  • I'm not sure, how the first line could be declared a controversy, anybody explain? "The wedding of his sons Seemanto Roy and Sushanto Roy, held during February, 10-14, 2004 in Sahara, Lucknow, is said to have cost $128 million, one of the most expensive ever." It is absolutely an original research to be a controversy (Check references above). Hence removed.
Hello. As the person who frequently restored the controversy section I thought I should comment. Thank you Anup for pointing out those things and taking action. Now I am aware of the crime policy etc. I would like to agree with the removal you have made. Thanks again, BethNaught (talk) 18:47, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

SUPPORT EARNED

[edit]

Subrata Roy [1] has received immense support from public as well as celebrities who have experienced his generosity and empathise for his present situation. Social media has served as a platform for this support. [2] People from all walks of life, like Director Ramesh Sippy, lyricist Sameer, actor Fardeen Khan, singers Nitin Mukesh, Sadhna Sargam, Saapna Mukherji and Rahul Vaidya, and actor Johny Lever also spoke about Subrata Roy’s patriotism, philanthropy and patronage of the arts in a press conference.

SLOGAN: "I Support Sahara"

[edit]

In recent time, the slogan "I Support Sahara" [1] has become quite popular on Social Media which is people's gesture of extending Support to Subrata Roy. A 2 ½ minute video uploaded on you tube shows how Sahara is doing good work for the society. It features various unknown individuals with a placard stating, ‘I trust Sahara’ and ‘I support Sahara’ [2] in Hindi and English. The though behind the video is "one could be in jail but not his ideology."

Sahara Good deeds

[edit]

The Sahara Group has thanked the Supreme Court for lifting the freeze on its moveable and immovable assets so that it can raise the Rs 10,000 crore for part payment of dues, but also said it had repaid the bulk of money owed to investors.[1] — Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.184.2.10 (talk) 04:37, 7 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Typo in summary

[edit]

The summary contains the text:

In 2014, Sahara was briefly jailed and then released on bail for contempt of court in a case involving alleged money laundering by the Sahara Group.

I assume that was meant to read "In 2014, Roy was briefly jailed..." or "In 2014, Subrata Roy was briefly jailed...". Could someone else who's more sure fix it?

Worst an usefulness Page

[edit]

Hello Wiki,

Hope you are going good. I have just seen this page online and was shocked to see that Wiki is showing the Biography of a Living person that Wiki should never do at all as per its policies. This is an ongoing case and by posting such things online about a Living person seems to be threatening. Also the sources I found over here are news articles and the stories written in it gives the detail about this case but I don't think that it gives any output to the users. Seriously, saying its a confusing case because sometimes court says that we have kept subrata roy in jail so that he can give the money and here on Wikipedia you say that Sahara India Pariwar if Fraud. I have confusion, actually the allegations have been imposed on Sahara Real Estates and Sahara Life Insurance then whats the use of Sahara India Pariwar in it. As per my knowledge this page must get remove. Do reply me what so ever will be your decision.

This article reads like a paid advertisement for Mr. Roy. Quality checks are missing and a lot of anecdotal information is presented as facts.
