Maharajah's Well
[edit]- after being commissioned by the Maharajah of India: Who was this Maharajah of India? There has never been a kingdom which included all India, except the British Raj. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 22:10, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
- You are correct. The well was actually commissioned by the Maharajah of Benares (now Varanasi in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India). I have changed this. Thank you. Wikilemming (talk) 11:48, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

Etlymology
[edit]The article says this: "Stoke is a common place-name derived from Old English, typically meaning a secondary settlement or outlying farmstead.
" However, I see that Stoke Poges says this: "In the name Stoke Poges, stoke means "stockaded (place)" that is staked with more than just boundary-marking stakes.
" Are these both correct? Both claims are currently unsourced. I added the latter definition to North Stoke, Oxfordshire, but now I'm not too sure. Thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 14:57, 4 February 2025 (UTC)
