Obelisk
[edit]What does the obelisk memorial in front of the church signify? Sca (talk) 21:39, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
- It's strictly decorative, inspired by royal architect Georg von Knobelsdorff's journeys to Italy to give the Alter Markt area a more representative look. Medallions set into the sides of the base used to show Prussian royalty, but now display images of Knobelsdorff and other famous architects (Gontard, Persius and Schinkel).
