Starry Night Over the Rhône (French: Nuit étoilée), is one of the paintings executed by Vincent van Goghin Arles, in southern France, at night. It was painted in 1888 by the Rhône River near the house van Gogh began renting early that year, and was first exhibited in 1889 at the annual exhibition of the Société des Artistes Indépendants (Society of Independent Artists) in Paris. The eastward-looking view chosen by van Gogh enabled him to capture reflections of Arles' gas lighting across the shimmering water of the river. In Arles, to which van Gogh moved in February 1888 from Paris, he completed 200 paintings, many of which were to become famous after his death in 1890.

Thank you for pointing at Seiji Ozawa! I thanked him, and have the story of Helga Paris today, a photographer of houses and faces. -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:05, 13 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The image, taken on a cemetery last year after the funeral of a distant but dear family member, commemorates today, with thanks for their achievements, four subjects mentioned on the Main page and Vami_IV, a friend here. Listen to music by Tchaikovsky (an article where one of the four is pictured), sung by today's subject (whose performance on stage I enjoyed two days ago). --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:45, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Gerda. -- Sca (talk) 19:08, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Rossini's Petite messe solennelle was premiered on 14 March 1864, - when I listen to the desolate Agnus Dei I think of Vami. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 23:01, 14 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I uploaded vacation pics (from back home), at least the first day, - and remember Aribert Reimann. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:13, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Always precious[edit]

Ten years ago, you were found precious. That's what you are, always. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:09, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Or did you mean precocious?  ;-) -- Sca (talk) 12:26, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Or perhaps precarious? -- Sca (talk) 13:59, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
