Shirley S. Kastor's gender

[edit]

@Slugger O'Toole: I know that having served in the state legislature 93 years ago meant that it was highly unlikely that this person was still alive, but I was filling out the living parameter at Category:Biography articles without living parameter and I just wanted to make sure before I moved on and left it as "yes they're dead". I found an obitiuary from 1936 for a Shirley S. Kastor who served in the Wyoming legislature from 1926 to 1930 (according to the obit). Those dates almost perfectly line up with what's in this article and on this site in the references, and according to that site there was only one Kastor who ever served so it's unlikely its a different person who just happened to also have served. The only thing that's different is that in the obituary, Shirley S. Kastor is definitely a man, not a woman. This second source about women in the Wyoming legislature doesn't appear to mention Kastor at all so I have to ask, are we sure that this article's subject was a woman? - Aoidh (talk) 01:19, 30 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Aoidh: I think you are on to something. You can make some bold edits to the article. Bruxton (talk) 01:56, 30 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm almost positive this article's subject is a man, but I wanted to see what O'Toole had to say before I made any drastic changes, because maybe they have some information that would clear up some misunderstanding of sources or something. If it is the same person in the obituary, they've been dead for 86 years, so I'm in no rush to change the article until I'm sure it's the same person (which it very likely is). - Aoidh (talk) 02:06, 30 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Aoidh: Wow. Nice catch. I believe you are correct and so made the changes to the article. Thanks! -- Slugger O'Toole (talk) 02:13, 30 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
