Article Structure

[edit]

In keeping with the usual NBA player article structure, I suggest that this article be organized chronologically, outlining the athelte's career (see example article on Larry Bird) and ending with other information, such as the personal section, e.g.:

  • Early success
  • College years
  • WNBA career
  • International career
  • Personal
  • Vital statistics
  • References
  • External links

Coaches?

[edit]

User talk:151.196.129.8 has added and re-added (after cleanup admins rv'ed) names of Swoopes' coaches. If anyone can verify these coaching claims with legitimate citations/references, would you please add them? Otherwise, we need to keep unverified info out of the article. Thanks! WikiProject class rating

This article was automatically assessed because at least one WikiProject had rated the article as start, and the rating on other projects was brought up to start class. BetacommandBot 08:19, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Female Michael Jordan

[edit]

In the lead, the claim "Frequently referred to as the 'female Michael Jordan'" has be tagged with a {{by whom?}}. This claim is not made or supoorted anywhere else in the article so it probably needs to be sourced if it is to remain. Here are some sites I found which could possibly be used to support the claim.

  1. NINE FOR IX: 'SWOOPES'
  2. Sheryl Swoopes Embraces New Role as Head Coach at Loyola Chicago
  3. Sheryl Swoopes
  4. Jordan, Swoopes In Battle Of Hoops-and Winner Is ...
  5. Sheryl Swoopes talks career, life after the WNBA, LGBT thoughts
  6. Sheryl Swoopes' Love Life, Past and Present, Not an Issue at Loyola
  7. Swoopes' Dazzling Title Game Sets New Standard For Women

It's hard to tell how many of the above are just mirroring what is written on Wikipedia, but I think the two Chicago Tribune sources (nos. 4 and 7), particularly the last one, are sufficient enough to state that at least a comparison was being made between Jordan and Swoopes. Maybe the word "frequently" would need to be removed, but not sure. Since WP:LEADCITE said citations are not necessarily required in the lead and their inclusion should be determined by consensus, I am discussing first before adding one. If nobody objects, then I think using the last Chicago Tribune with possibly a slight tweak of the wording should work fine. Or, the statement can be added later on in the article and then cited there. - Marchjuly (talk) 14:09, 5 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sheryl Swoopes College Stats

[edit]

Something is likely incorrect with the college stats. The Games Played times points per game should equal points, but they don't. Likely the games played is incorrect. They don't match what is on Sports Reference. 2601:444:380:21A0:49BF:497D:8213:1B52 (talk) 12:21, 13 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
