"The average class consisted of about thirty pupils, mostly boys. Most girls stayed at home with their mothers...".Does that mean that it was allowed for girls to attend school in ancient Rome and some actually did? I always had the impression that it was forbidden by law...can someone please clarify? Padem 12:14, 27 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Your impression is correct. The article isn't. Much of this article is currently deficient. The first thing we need to decide is where to move it, since the current title is very poor. Something like Education in ancient Rome is needed. -Silence 16:23, 27 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I see no evidence that the content of this revision has been transferred in another article, hence I have reverted. If you think this page should be moved, please discuss it here first. Thanks, Cenarium (talk) 23:01, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Remark that the discussion just before is from December 2005 and may not be relevant now. Cenarium (talk) 23:06, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

article now cited?

[edit]

I found an acurate page for confirming the valididity of the article and has been placed in the external links section. Would a single yet expansive link be enough for the removal of the "uncited" tag? --Chris772 (talk) 02:53, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In a word, no. That link should not be considered as citation or validation for any part of the article, let alone the whole. Sources should be written (or at the very least supported) by peer-acknowledged scholars in the field. This Wiki article has the look of good faith editing but it will need serious attention to structure, content, style and citation to meet an encyclopedic standard. Perhaps it has been written by school-age editors? If so, careful reading of wikipedia featured articles might suggest ways to improve it. On second and third thoughts, it's a quite low-traffic article anyway, and might be better merged with Education in Ancient Rome. Then the problems of both articles can be dealt with in one place. Merge proposal

[edit]

Please, let's merge this with Education in Ancient Rome. While we're at it, we could retitle the latter using lower case "a". See also related discussion at the Classical G & R project page. Haploidavey (talk) 16:05, 31 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Another plea for a merge. Haploidavey (talk) 02:52, 25 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
