Pat Boone
[edit]The bio of Pat Boone contradicts the assertion that Richard Boone is not related to him. Moreover, if both are related to Daniel Boone, then in this regard they would be related as at least extremely distant cousins. Not sure about other Boones mentioned but obviously the same reasoning applies if they are related to Daniel. --Jrm2007 (talk) 19:33, 30 August 2013 (UTC)
- Pat Boone is not related to Daniel Boone. That myth has been debunked. (79.67.118.232 (talk) 12:03, 23 January 2016 (UTC))
Cause of Death
[edit]In the infobox, it lists cancer as the cause of death. Under the heading "Personal Life", it says pneumonia. I fully understand that pneumonia might have been the proximate cause of death as a complication of his cancer, but I also think it would make sense to have the same cause of death listed in both places in the article. Either is fine with me, but not two different causes of death in the same article. --Art Smart Chart/Heart 22:10, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
The cause of death was pneumonia. Boone declined to have his larynx removed and the cancer spread throughout his body. (86.183.30.78 (talk) 18:15, 17 May 2016 (UTC))Sock of banned editor HarveyCarter. Beyond My Ken (talk) 21:00, 29 April 2017 (UTC)
- several external articles suggest that Boone was a heavy smoker. Cancer and complications with pneumonia suggest this as a possible cause. --2600:6C48:7006:200:D84D:5A80:173:901D (talk) 03:32, 26 March 2018 (UTC)
Alleged Descent From Squire M Boone, Junior, Daniel Boone's Brother
[edit]Richard Allen Boone (1917-1981) was the son of Kirk Etna Boone (1892-1957), the son of Bower Boone (1864-1935), the son of Peter Tribble Boone (1836-1933), the son of Nestor W Boone (1804-1876), the son of Colonel William Linville Boone (1768-1847), the son of George W Boone (1739-1820).
George W Boone was the brother of the famous Squire Maugridge Boone, Jr. (October 5, 1744 – August 5, 1815) an American frontiersman, longhunter, soldier, city planner, politician, land locator, judge, politician, gunsmith, miller, and brother of Daniel Boone.
So Richard Boone is descendant of one of Daniel Boone's brothers, George W Boone, but not the famous Squire M Boone, Jr.
My source is the family tree available to everyone at Geni.com. Would someone please volunteer to correct this error as I am new to Wikipedia. Thanks.

- geni.com is not a reliable source. It is edited by the public just like Wikipedia although the way it is done is different. Additionally I looked at the entry for Richard Allen Boone and NO sources are cited whatsoever for the entry. While I find the tree pretty convincing as it matches what I had heard several decades ago about Boone, I for one would want a better source before adding this information to the article.
