Training manual

[edit]

There seems to be a suggestion that this article should be deleted because it seems like a research paper which has just been pasted onto Wikipedia. It was written by George Murray and myself, Selwyn Hardy, as part of a training manual for Rent Officers. It is a companion piece to the history of rent control in England and Wales (which we both also wrote). The latter seems to have been accepted without comment. George was then (he has since retired) the Chief Rent Officer for Scotland based in Edinburgh and I (also now retired) was Chief Rent Officer for The Cities of London and Westminster and editor of the Journal of the Institute of Rent Officers. We were both closely involved in the training and personal development of Rent Officers north and south of the border. The articles have been brought up to date with the help of current officials of the Rent Service.

Anyone requiring information about the development of rent control (my original title until someone changed it to history of rent control) will soon realise that these two articles provide useful insights and will guide research into the history of rent control both north and south of the border. Anyone needing background to fair rent registrations (and other concepts such as premiums, notices to quit etc) and housing benefit assessments which are still currently being made should find both these articles useful and informative.Mortal8 (talk) 15:43, 8 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
