Request for cleanup

[edit]

I agree with the the request for cleanup.

This page requires a considerable reworking as it is difficult to follow and is inaccurate in its portrayal of what is essential and Executive Agency that deals with Education in England. I will attempt to cleanup what I can and expand it. Davidkinnen 17:44, 29 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Education in the United Kingdom

[edit]

I changed the category of this article back to Category:Education in the United Kingdom, as they operate outside of England. In Wales, NVQs, are regulated by the QCA. It's also worth noting the following sentence on the QCA website: "QCA has a pivotal role in helping the UK become the most dynamic knowledge-based economy in the world." --Daniel Lawrence 19:49, 17 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Then it is perhaps best to list in both Education in England and Education in the United Kingdom, and do likewise for the other regulators and providers of public examinations. The QCA has no role in Northern Ireland as far as I am aware and certainly has no role in Scotland where the Scottish Qualifications Authority and the Scottish Executive have responsibility. Or we could place QCA in Education in England and Education in Wales. This is an unfortunate side affect of the piecemeal reforms of the Blair Government, as we have supposedly UK wide Departments of State that only operate in England, or in England and Wales. Further, the Awarding Bodies for A Levels are used by some Scottish secondary schools (both public and independent), so how do we classify them? Davidkinnen 15:45, 18 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
