Never seen this guy referred to as anything but "Peter Whittingham". Definitely not in any print media, such as newspapers and the team sheet on Villa's matchday programme. Move to Peter?

Argee Move back to Peter.

May be a big joke to move to Pete. Matthew_hk tc 14:16, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]
An image used in this article, File:Whittingham v Crystal Palace.jpg, has been nominated for speedy deletion at Wikimedia Commons for the following reason: Copyright violations
What should I do?

Don't panic; deletions can take a little longer at Commons than they do on Wikipedia. This gives you an opportunity to contest the deletion (although please review Commons guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to upload it to Wikipedia (Commons does not allow fair use)
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Commons Undeletion Request

Rumoured death

[edit]

Neither the BBC nor Cardiff City Football Club have any confirmation of this story as yet. [1], [2] Culloty82 (talk) 17:40, 17 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

He is confirmed dead OneTwoThreeYeet (talk) 18:13, 17 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Can you provide a source? Mattythewhite (talk) 18:18, 17 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
His former teammate (Chopra) apppears to be the only semi-reliable source. Nothing officially confirmed yet, though. It seems a little bizarre. Let's wait and see. https://twitter.com/MichaelChopra/status/1239971377068642306
Michael Chopra on Twitter is not enough for the "Rumoured death" to be reliable. When there is news from news websites (which is cluttered with CV-19), that would be reliable enough. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 19:05, 17 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

So a minor diaspora[clarification needed] newspaper in Spain knows this, but BBC Sport's Cardiff City page doesn't, nor does Cardiff City FC's official channels? 2A00:23C5:E187:5F00:A121:F6B1:502B:6CB1 (talk) 20:02, 17 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Not confirmed by any news media, possibly a hoax: https://twitter.com/TheSecondTier/status/1239988541649760257 Badmotorfinger (talk) 22:36, 17 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
He is in hospital "fighting for his life" so whatever Michael Chopra, euroweeklynews.com and Wikipedia user OneTwoThreeYeet said is factually incorrect. They hope for a speedy recovery. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 21:44, 18 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Re above, sources now have the news that he passed away. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 18:58, 19 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please remove Whittingham's "death" from the article, the Spanish newspaper it is cited from is not a reliable source when we consider there is nothing on the BBC's Cardiff page about it [1]. 2A00:23C5:E187:5F00:A121:F6B1:502B:6CB1 (talk) 20:01, 17 March 2020 (UTC) Hers here unconfirmed rumour as of now Cardiff city confirm they have no knowledge of this story respect required jasperxp 20:35, 17 March 2020 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jasperxp (talkcontribs) [reply]
