Official position?

Is this position official? The cited article is about a month old, and I'm not sure this article makes sense unless it's been announced more recently as a formal position. Rainclaw7 (talk) 14:13, 24 July 2019 (UTC)

Agree. The article says "should be", it was way before he was elected, and i can't find any references to it since his election. I think this can be deleted.Julianhall (talk) 09:09, 25 July 2019 (UTC)

As far as I can see from an extensive thirty seconds of searching, this is not an official position, office or title - more an aspiration. There is nothing about it on the Number 10 web pages nor anywhere on .gov.uk - it is no more than if a Minister for Agriculture were to give a speech claiming to be 'the minister for wheat and barley'. If that changes, then this article is helpful. Until then, the article is based on a misapprehension and is not true, and should be deleted.Hogweard (talk) 20:09, 30 July 2019 (UTC)

See this, which I will add as a citation now. It does seem to be an official title. (Prior to its appearing on gov.uk, it was announced by the PM's spokesperson rather than just in a speech by the PM himself, which also suggests it's a genuine addition to his title and not just rhetoric, though I accept that argument is probably WP:OR.) I wonder if the position of Minister for the Union continues to exist in the Second Johnson Cabinet. It is not listed in the official roll of Her Majesty's government published both in the House of Commons's and the House of Lords's Hansard at the start of the current parliamentary session (the final, official, pdf version of Hansard, for the day of The Queen's Speech, 19 December 2019). Prime Minister Boris Johnson is there listed only as "Prime Minister, First Lord of the Treasury and Minister for the Civil Service". What does the 'member of' section actually mean? Isn't it just a list of groups that Boris is a member of by dint of being Prime Minister? I don't think it's relevant to this role, unless a formal description of this role has been published somewhere. Farleysmaster (talk) 12:35, 26 July 2019 (UTC)
