Worth mentioning?

"Die with a Smile"
[edit]Worth mentioning that "Die with a Smile" will not appear on the album but was released ahead of its announcement? ---Another Believer (Talk) 17:41, 11 September 2024 (UTC)
- @Another Believer, Pinging so you can add information and more sources but Die with a Smile is apparently another lead single for the album. Found a couple of sources but I don't really do prose. Thanks, Cowboygilbert - (talk) ♥ 05:29, 23 December 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks, sharing a source here:

- Die with a Smile is not the lead single. The song is never a part of the album's production. It's a bonus track. It's not Gaga's song at first place, it's Bruno's song. GogoLion (talk) 07:07, 27 January 2025 (UTC)
- It’s both of their songs as it’s not a featured nor a guest appearance. We can’t justify what is a lead single and what isn’t based off of word of mouth, you need a source that says that it might not be the lead single or it might be the lead single (as I so have put). The album is still unreleased and it may be a lead single, we could never know because we aren’t Lady Gaga or work for her… but if you are or you do then you shouldn’t edit the article. Thanks, Cowboygilbert - (talk) ♥ 07:10, 27 January 2025 (UTC)
- Die with a Smile is not the lead single, it's a promotional single if anything. Disease is very much the first single, as posted by Lady Gaga herself as "LG7 First Single". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.2.42.205 (talk) 14:58, 27 January 2025 (UTC)

LG7 - Taller
[edit]Hi @Another Believer and the other collaborators.
I noticed that work is being done on Lady Gaga's upcoming new album, and I wanted to offer my "Taller" as a guide, if you'd like to use it. It includes references from sources like Billboard, Rolling Stone, and Vogue, among others. All the sources are in English, so feel free to use them as needed. I have also developed the "Background," "Recording," and parts of the "Music and Lyrics" sections quite extensively, compiling all the information Gaga has announced over the past few months.

- I've moved the page into the main space, so you're welcome to update the article as sources allow. Thanks! ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:57, 25 January 2025 (UTC)
Not sure why my edit got deleted but the album is stylized in all caps as shown on her webstore. This is what the Artpop article says as that album is also stylized in all caps. Benshera13 (talk) 17:20, 27 January 2025 (UTC)
- Every album is announced with all caps, its not a stylization per say, lets see how third party media notes it. —IB [ Poke ] 18:06, 27 January 2025 (UTC)
- Per MOS:MUSICCAPS (in association with MOS:TITLECAPS), it states: Exceptions are not made to mimic logo/cover stylization, even if such mimicry is common in the music press. Regardless of music press, "(stylized/stylised in all caps" is not acceptable. livelikemusic (TALK!) 20:05, 27 January 2025 (UTC)
- Exactly, so then why would we add this phrase alongside the title? Even Chromatica was initially listed with all caps, look where it is now. This is just premature and as always a specific brand of fanatic editors. —IB [ Poke ] 20:29, 27 January 2025 (UTC)

- Fan culture seems to be the "why," I guess? But I hate it, honestly. Should be kept to Fandom articles. livelikemusic (TALK!) 20:56, 27 January 2025 (UTC)
Elle Magazine - Feb
[edit]Part of the interview for Elle (magazine) (officially on sale in February). Info to add when official links are available:
We talk about this separation of public and private self and how it has affected her over two decades. She admits to having "a broken feeling" about some of the mental health issues she has had in her life. "I feel some embarrassment, and that's a very vulnerable thing to share. But I think through making this album, I was able to really love myself through all of that. Confronting the music was a way of confronting some of the things I’ve been through and saying, ‘It’s okay that’s who you are.’ And celebrating that about myself, instead of trying to pretend it’s not real."
She tells me that making Mayhem was a process of rediscovery. "The chaos I thought was long gone is fully intact and ready to greet me whenever I’d like. Part of the message of even the first song on the album is that your demons are with you in the beginning and they are with you in the end, and I don’t mean it in a bleak way. Maybe we can make friends sooner with this reality instead of running all the time."
Her influences for Mayhem include "'90s alternative, electro-grunge, Prince and Bowie melodies, guitar and attitude, funky bass lines, French electronic dance, and analog synths." From a genre perspective, she says, "Mayhem is utter chaos! It breaks a lot of rules and has a lot of fun. It’s about following your own chaos into whatever cranny of your life it takes you to."

I think Mayhem should be "seventh" studio album
[edit]Ciations which is in this article, mostly presents this album as "seventh". Also, in these days Lady Gaga updated her homepage, and she put all her previous albums (except two collaborative albums) with their detailed descriptions.
First, she officially announced Born This Way album as "third full-length studio album", [1].
Second, she also announced that Artpop is her fourth studio album, [2].
And of course, she announced MAYHEM album as seventh, in official trailer. [3]
Therefore I think MAYHEM should be marked as seventh, and her previous albums should be arranged again, Born This Way and ARTPOP. We can see that she doesn't regard Cheek to Cheek and Love for Sale as her studio album chronology. Camilasdandelions (talk) 17:26, 28 January 2025 (UTC)
- Already a dicussion concerning this here. No need for the same discussion in two separate spaces. livelikemusic (TALK!) 20:18, 28 January 2025 (UTC)
- The same site also cites The Fame Monster as "expands upon Lady Gaga’s debut with a new album featuring eight new tracks that delve into the darker side of fame" so it's repackage. On Wikipedia, repackage is not counted as new studio album. GogoLion (talk) 00:31, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
Alternate covers
[edit]Should we include photos of LP alternate cover versions under the main cover photo? Platinum Passion (talk) 10:49, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
- I think it would be best to leave it with just the main cover for now since there is so many wiglett (talk) 11:47, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
- No, per WP:NFCC#3a and 8. livelikemusic (TALK!) 17:43, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
Wrong numbering: cannot be her eighth
[edit]The folks who are counting eight albums are in violation of WP:V. The media are mostly reporting Mayhem as Gaga's seventh album. Anyone who wants to insert the word "eighth" will have to show an overwhelming number of sources supporting such a claim. The WP:ONUS is on those who want to add the word.
The great majority of sources are saying "seventh", for instance People magazine, Deadline, USA Today, Elle, Rolling Stone, and many more.
Sources saying "eighth" are few: NME and some fansites.
We are faced with a challenge in telling the reader the numbering of Gaga's albums. Summarizing the sources is not a simple matter of counting. It's more complicated, and we must adapt. Binksternet (talk) 16:16, 2 February 2025 (UTC)
- Lets take the discussion in Talk:Lady Gaga and lets have it continue there to reach consensus. —IB [ Poke ] 19:03, 2 February 2025 (UTC)
- In the meanwhile, let's not violate WP:V with such audacity. Let's also acknowledge that you cannot prove WP:ONUS with the available sources. Binksternet (talk) 19:10, 2 February 2025 (UTC)
- You know me very well over these years not to judge my accountability with content addition Bink. People is calling it her seventh solo album, Deadline/USA Today called it seventh studio album, Elle/RS called it her seventh album, the latter acknowledging that its her first LP from Chormatica, you see how the nuances across the sources also vary? —IB [ Poke ] 19:17, 2 February 2025 (UTC)

- How about we not jump the gun here and just leave both numbers out until a definitive consensus is reached in the discussion at Talk:Lady Gaga? Can we agree to that instead of going back and forth, at least temporarily? It may require a full RFC be opened so that this question can be put to bed once and for all. There are multiple factors at play:
- Does TFM constitute a studio album for the purposes of chronology?
- Would an EFN at each article explaining the differing chronology methodologies help?
- Does Harlequin constitute a studio album for the purposes of chronology?
- Do Love For Sale and Cheek To Cheek constitute studio albums for the purposes of chronology?
- Should lead sentences post-Cheek To Cheek say "Xth solo album, Xth album overall"?
- Does TFM constitute a studio album for the purposes of chronology?
