[edit]

"Chhillar was born to doctor parents in india.." Her parents seem to be doctorate holders, not doctors. So it is incorrect to put so. Please edit Jithin k sreedharan (talk) 14:01, 19 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Height

[edit]

This is regarding the recent alteration in the subject's height, and addition of three poor sources by an anonymous user.[1] So I will discuss all three of those sources here. IMDB is a WP:UGC – see Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Perennial sources#Sources. And the dubious, poorly written StarsVilla's 'wiki' actually states that "Manushi’s height is said to be 5 feet. eight inches", before contradicting itself in the same article. The third source is of Femina – which just mentions "5.7", without mentioning units, although they might have meant 5.7 ft – was declared unsuitable for sourcing her height at WP:RS/P (see here). All in all, these three poor sources are unsuitable for sourcing BLP-related information.

BTW, I will add a couple of reliable sources from Vanity Fair and Campaign, as the source of International Business Times – which was removed by the anonymous user in their aforementioned edit – is not generally considered reliable. - NitinMlk (talk) 18:58, 24 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Birthplace

[edit]

Manushi Chhillar's birthplace was changed on 25 February 2022 from Rohtak to Bamnoli village. But that village is her ancestral/paternal village,[1][2] and she has not spent even a single day there yet.[3]

She was born in Rohtak and her birthplace was explicitly reported by nearly all the national newspapers when she became Miss world in 2017. Here are some of them that I have found by a quick search: The New Indian Express;[4] Hindustan Times;[5] The Times of India;[6] The Pioneer;[7] Business Standard;[8] Zee News;[9] The Sunday Guardian;[10] & The Free Press Journal.[11] Even her uncle (who is a doctor by profession) has mentioned her birthplace as Rohtak.[12]

The subject is in the news for the last few months due to her Bollywood debut and Indian media regularly copy-paste from Wikipedia. So beware of WP:MIRRORS that may have appeared from 25 February 2022 onwards. BTW, some serious steps need to be taken to tackle regular WP mirroring by Indian/Pakistani media. - NitinMlk (talk) 21:13, 2 June 2022 (UTC) [reply]
