Amsterdam Schiphol Airport

[edit]

The 2005 final statistics table has a column 2004 rank. In row 20. (Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, AMS), this column reads "N.A.". However, in the 2004 final statistics table, you can see that the AMS's rank was also 20. Is there a special reason that that has not been mentioned in the 2004-rank column? There is only a slight difference in the name ("Schiphol Airport" --- "Amsterdam Schiphol Airport"). As far as I know, this airport (whose original name was Schiphol) was officially renamed to "Amsterdam Airport" for international communications, because 'Schiphol' may be difficult to pronounce correctly. The name "Schiphol" was retained for domestic use. Anyway, it is the same airport. Johan Lont 16:48, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Data in article doesn't match the reference

[edit]

The data in the 2006 table does not match the data in the referenced link. For example, the table has 980,386 departures for Hartsfield while the link has 976 447. Another example, the table has Phoenix in 29th place, the link has New York JFK as #29. I suspect the data on the linked page was updated from what it used to be. Can someone more familiar with airports than I am please correct this. Thanks. Truthanado 03:06, 24 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Commercial aircraft

[edit]

Does the data include non-commercial aircraft movements? kawaputratorque 04:31, 1 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Location of Paris CDG

[edit]

The location of Paris CDG is said to be Seine-Saint-Denis/Seine-et-Marne/Val-d'Oise, which are actually the three départements straddled by the airport. However, it is officially headquartered, more accurately, at Roissy-en-France, Val-d'Oise, Île-de-France, France, according to the official website of the Service d'information aéronautique. Would it be wise to change the location information accordingly ? 93.1.129.148 (talk) 20:46, 13 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Article out of date.

[edit]

Unless the author is prepared to update the article as time goes on, temporal data should not be used. The 2010 figures are partial figures and incorrect. The reference for 2010 figures links to a page reporting present data (Now 2011), not for 2010 data as expected.

Suggest the removal of any data that is evolving, and provide a link to the evolving data if desired. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 210.48.109.206 (talk) 00:29, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Move proposal

[edit]

I propose to rename this article to World's busiest airports by aircraft movements. My reason is that the phrase "traffic movements" seems ambiguous and vague. "Traffic" could also mean passenger traffic or cargo traffic, of which there are separate articles already: World's busiest airports by passenger traffic, World's busiest airports by cargo traffic. Why not use "aircraft movements"? The main source to this article by Airports Council International uses the phrase "aircraft movements" in their website. This has been earlier discussed in Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Airports#Busiest_airports. ќמшמφטтгמtorque 04:48, 15 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Proposal to archive data from ACI each year

[edit]

Hi all,

I think there has been continued confusion regarding the data source for this article, primarily because the ACI is not archiving their rankings every year. Therefore, most of the primary data sources for this article are based on dynamic websites that change every year. Can we have a bot go through and try to retrieve snapshots of this data from each year prior? ChunyangD (talk) 16:39, 2 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

2020 table includes Deer Valley?

[edit]

Deer Valley is a small regional airport. I'm not sure if it supports commercial passenger service or cargo flights. It seems likely that this is on the level of aircraft movements as Atlanta or Los Angeles. Perhaps PHX was intended? BFS Geek (talk) 20:08, 21 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
