Highest OWGR in Benepe's template

[edit]

Nigej, Benepe's highest OWGR ranking should be here. It was at least #88 but perhaps higher (check 1988 season).

Classic example of where the player's page is incorrect eg http://www.owgr.com/en/Ranking/PlayerProfile.aspx?playerID=677&year=1989 which covers 1989. This page is generated by the back-fitting exercise. The main problem is that the back-fitting for the first 12 weeks of 1989 is completely wrong since the backfitting uses averages whereas the actual rankings used totals at this time. see eg http://dps.endavadigital.net/owgr/doc/content/archive/1989/owgr02f1989.pdf for week 2 which has Benepe at 117 while the backfitting has him incorrectly at 88. You will also see that the backfitting has him at exactly 100 for week 15 of 1989. However again this is wrong: http://dps.endavadigital.net/owgr/doc/content/archive/1989/owgr15f1989.pdf shows that he was actually at 101. NB You can also see from this page that he had only played 66 events in the preceding 3 years, lower than most of the others - which is why he was higher when averages came in. In summary: looking at the actual rankings at the time his highest ranking seems to be 101 in week 15 of 1989. Nigej (talk) 12:40, 30 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
