needs to be re-written to be encyclopedic and comply with WP:BLP

[edit]

I removed the following from the article as Wikipedia is not a gossip tabloid and the following content needs to be seriously re-written and specifically cited per WP:BLP. Active Banana (bananaphone 20:09, 17 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

After being diagnosed with Alzheimers and Parkinson's disease, Fernandes has been facing issues with his estranged wife Leila and son Sean. The media has highlighted the treatment meted out to him and the revoking of access to his brothers and long time colleague, Jaya Jaitly, to meet Fernandes, by Leila and Sean. The issue took an ugly turn on February 20, 2010 when Fernandes was declared missing and accusations were made against his wife Leila and son Sean. Fernandes' property worth over 25 crore (US$2.9 million), is believed to be the heart of this custody issue.[1] [2] [3]

Everything is specifically cited as per WP:BLP. If you have no time to read the references, then that's not our problem. You are welcomed to copyedit the section. But if you are unable to copyedit within the next few days, I'll revert your edits. Just because it is written in a poor manner, is no reason to just remove chunks of data. This is cleary clearly vandalism und the name of WP:BLP. Your actions would had been justified if there were inaccuracies in the content. But there are none. I guarantee you that. I disagree that the text above is in compliance with BLP and agree with User talk:Active Banana that the above text does not belong in the article. Here are some of the problems with the paragraph:
This paragraph bears many of the marks of the type of tabloid journalism specifically named as unhelpful by Wikipedia guidelines. Banana's comment needs to be seriously addressed before reverting any text. Also be WP:NICE, please. Blue Rasberry 02:46, 20 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I have done a re-write that attempts to present the information in an appropriate manner. I am still kind of wary about using a source that has unidentified "friends" making allegations that are essentially charges of kidnapping and makes claims of "are going to go to court". Are there more current sources that give a clearer indication of what is happening? Active Banana (bananaphone 16:52, 22 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I found some references that show that they did indeed go to court, but I am still confused as the July reference [1] says the court made its ruling, but the later november reference [ http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/politics/nation/Condition-of-George-Fernandes-deteriorating/articleshow/6650415.cms] says the matter is still in court. Anyone help clarify? Active Banana (bananaphone 17:14, 22 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
