Article class

[edit]

@Bd2412:, I have been looking into the criteria for c class or even b class and I think that given the significant expansion of the article and the depth of the detail provided and cited the article does meet the criteria. ChefBear01 (talk) 19:30, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Important clarification needed in regarding COI

[edit]

@Martinevans123: & anyone else can assist, could a member of the English Whisky Guild edit on this page without causing a WP:COI?.ChefBear01 (talk) 13:06, 11 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I think it might depend on what they wanted to add, remove or change. Do they intend to edit as an anonymous IP, solely on behalf of the English Whisky Guild, or as a normal registered Wikipedia user? Do they already edit English Whisky Guild? Thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 13:49, 11 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Martinevans123 they may as a registered user on behalf of the English Whisky Guild or both as the above and as a private user but that is less likely. It is more likely in a professional capacity. I do not think they already have an account or edit as I explained to them that I think that it would be a WP:COI but I am not entirely sure. They have given me some information that could help, but I am not paid by them and assess all information independently only adding what can be sourced as per WP:CITE. Unless the information is also published in the public domain, that might be problematic. You'd be best getting Admin advice and/or raising it at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard? Martinevans123 (talk) 15:14, 11 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@JJMC89:, Please could you assist in this discussion. ChefBear01 (talk) 17:19, 11 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

what re-establishment date should be used?

[edit]

{{help me}} I have an issue as although I think that a majority of sources that cite 2006 as the re-establishment date which aligns with the creation of the English whisky Co (St George’s Distillery) there is another company the Lancashire Whisky Producers Limited which is now closed but was established in the 1980’s which would put the re-establishment date of English whisky back, which date should be used?

I unfortunately can’t contribute but have a question- does this mean that no whisky was produced in England from the 19th century until 2006? 2607:FEA8:A71F:B680:D982:663D:B68:6FC1 (talk) 12:53, 24 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@2607:FEA8:A71F:B680:D982:663D:B68:6FC1:
That is my understanding from the citations.ChefBear01 (talk) 16:29, 24 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Joseph2302:, @GenevieveDEon:, @48JCL: please could you check the tone of the new section to ensure it has a neutral tone and balanced view. ChefBear01 (talk) 18:36, 4 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

International Disputes section

[edit]

I have added an international disputes section as it is important that all information is provided about English whisky including any issues to ensure a balanced article.ChefBear01 (talk) 20:07, 4 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Article trim

[edit]

I was thinking about moving the brands and distilleries sections into the see also section, removing the associated text and cite and just proving a link as those topics have specific dedicated articles, this would tidy the article a little and make it less cluttered.

what do other editor think of this?. ChefBear01 (talk) 13:41, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@ChefBear01 yeah that makes sense! I gave this a copy edit but I agree it could use improved organization. Xpseudo (talk) 01:34, 15 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
