RFC discussion on logo usage on this page

[edit]

There is a Request for Comment occurring about whether certain college-sports related pages should include a logo. This is an article that would be affected by the decision. You are invited to participate in the discussion if you wish. permalink to discussion as of this point in time. --Bobak (talk) 21:22, 21 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Inclusion of sentence regarding Kentucky "getting revenge" on Duke

[edit]

There is no reason to include a sentence about Kentucky "getting revenge" in a section about the accomplishments of Duke during Mike Krzyzewski's tenure as head coach. This article is about Duke, and that section is about Duke's accomplishment's, not Kentucky's. Inclusion of such a sentence is inappropriate editorializing. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.225.245.121 (talk) 18:39, 12 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Merge

The result was Keep. Merge proposed 13 June 2008. Nearly a year later, only two responses, but there is clearly a consensus (see Izzone, Orange Krush for other examples) -- Bluedog423Talk 20:32, 27 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cameron Crazies should be a separate article. There is even a template for student sections for some conferences (The Big Ten has one, but I don't know about ACC).--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 04:14, 16 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Crazies definitely deserve their own section. They are only the most infamous student section in college sports. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 152.3.1.215 (talk) 05:20, 23 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

first line reads

The Duke Blue Devils men's basketball team is the college basketball program representing Duke University and one of the premier flopping teams in the nation.

should read

The Duke Blue Devils men's basketball team is the college basketball program representing Duke University and one of the premier teams in the nation.

- - - - The first line of this article calls Duke one of the premier FLOPPING team in America. The BOLD word is clearly a derogatory insertion, it's pretty obvious one of your "approved" users abused their privileges.

Already done Actually, it was done by an anonymous editor, as the article was temporarily unprotected. In any event, it was just plain vandalism that was already removed

Record Dispute

[edit]

When Coach K was out in the 90s with back problems, Duke lost to UNC, I believe, once. UNC considers that loss apart of K's record while Duke does not. Section? UoMfan98 (talk) 22:05, 27 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

not a part of coach k's record — Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.90.175.195 (talk) 19:49, 25 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The yearly record section should be modified to indicate that Jeff Capel was head coach for part of 2016-2017 season. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:1C0:4501:E18C:5D4F:5AFC:93A6:E199 (talk) 06:42, 9 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Teams pages

[edit]

This article lacks links to yearly/seasonal team pages (e.g., 1992 Duke Blue Devils) outside of the current year. Please supply information for each team page.72.174.131.123 (talk) 23:09, 5 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

There is links to every available team season in the season-by-season chart, even more than a few others linked in the article itself. Brian (talk) 03:05, 8 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Jalen Johnson as a "Duke star?"

[edit]

Anyone else have a problem with Jalen Johnson being listed as a "former Duke star to play in the NBA"?

I would argue that he wasn't a "star"at Duke and that quitting the team mid-season is grounds for disqualification as a "Duke" star.

According to GoDuke.com, Johnson played in 13 games, started 8 and averaged 11.2 points on .523 field goal shooting, 6.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. Not exactly "star" stats.

I have no problem acknowledging that Johnson played at Duke for 13 games and showed promise. But I vote that he should be deleted from this particular list of "former Duke star to play in the NBA."
