Untitled

I'm not sure it's quite accurate to call it "German-language" these days. It certainly was for most of its history, and its title is still in German, but it primarily publishes English-language articles nowadays, probably over 90%. Even of the non-English articles, about as many are in French as in German. --Delirium 03:23, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. E.g. I just looked at a random recent issue (Feb 2009, Number 627), and eight out of eight articles were in English. I've changed it. 86.1.196.219 (talk) 15:20, 12 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

To call it "Crelle's journal" ...

They're academics. The title itself, „Journal für die reine und angewandte Mathematik,“ is not necessarily to be interpreted as a proper noun, especially when proper nouns are not distinguished by capitalization from common nouns in German. The title is only to say that there’s a journal published on the subject of pure and applied mathematics, and this particular journal is identified by its founder and subtitled, „gegründet von A. L. Crelle 1826,“ and/or on some issues by naming a current editor-in-chief. It's Establishment press, there's a big name in the field and they're telling us how long they've been in business.
