HOLLYWOOD KID(1924)--one reeler,Mack Sennett Studios. Charlie Murray,Vernon Dent,Andy Clyde,Louise Carver,Jackie Lucas,and Mack Sennett as himself.

An uproariously funny one reeler---two scenes were used in Robert Youngson's THE GOLDEN AGE OF COMEDY(1957). Mack Sennett plays himself, sitting calmly at his desk as his office is invaded by every sort of distraction known to man--including a live lion that jumps on his desk. Sennett orders it to leave, and the beast meekly obeys.

While filming a ragtag neighborhood baseball game, director Vernon Dent takes an interest in a little boy who loses his pants and wants to sign him to a contract. Charlie Murray, the boy's henpecked father who spends most of his time bent over a hot laundry tub; could certainly use the money. Dent and rival studio spy Andy Clyde end up in a breakneck auto race to get to Murray's house first; complete with hair-raising stunts. Dent knocks out Clyde with one punch, and Murray is impressed enough to sign a contarct. 198.23.5.10 (talk) 15:03, 19 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
