Astrud
[edit]Is Bebel related to Astrud Gilberto? Both are Brazillian bossa nova singers. -- Bovineone 18:01, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
- Not really, though they have family ties of a sort: Astrud was João Gilberto's first wife, while Bebel is the daugther of João and his second wife. --62.16.136.190 19:59, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
Identity
[edit]Please explain why her African background is not referenced in her listing, just as it is not provided in her father's. It should not be presumed, but stated clearly. Insatiabletaurus 22:06, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
History
[edit]A few sentences in this section are unclear and problematic:
"In the late 1990s, Bebel moved to London where she began to develop the sound featured on her critically acclaimed debut album 'Tanto Tempo'. During this period, she met Suba, the multi-talented Serbian producer living in São Paulo who ended up writing and producing several tracks on 'Tanto Tempo'. While in London, she also worked with DJ/producer Amon Tobin, Dutch duo Arling & Cameron and singer Nina Miranda."
If Bebel is living in London and she meets a Serbian producer living in São Paulo, how is it possible she's in two places at once? Of course it's possible the Serbian producer is living in São Paulo and visiting London, but this isn't stated. Please clarify.
I'm a casual fan of Bebel's, but I couldn't begin untangle her biography. Anyone? Kinkyturnip (talk) 01:36, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
Early Life
[edit]Removed phrase "Gilberto has been performing since her youth in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil" from the intro and included it in the appropriate section, "Early Life". Seemed more appropriate. A.Val.sol (talk) 00:29, 12 June 2021 (UTC)
