Name

[edit]

There seems to be some confusion about his name. Many sources cite Aloysius with a y, but it is not clear what the original source for that is. PSA [1] and his hometown paper of Milwaukee Journal Sentinel [2] list Alois based on a Milwaukee birth record (Reel 0200, Record 00239 of the "Wisconsin Vital Record Index, pre-1907" which is located at the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services Vital Records Division in Madison, WI and available at Ancestry.com). The census records I have posted clearly show that by the time he was 8 in 1910 and again in 1920 when he was a teenager and able to spell his own name for the census taker, he was going by Aloisius. Fastest MLB Player to 2000 Hits

[edit]

I was reading Yahoo! Sports' page on Ichiro Suziki when I came across this which I think ought to be put in the article, although the only source I have is the above mentioned page:

"Sep 5 Ichiro moved one step closer to baseball history, picking up a pair of hits to move within four of 2,000 for his career during Seattle's 6-3 win over the Oakland Athletics on Friday night. Suzuki is on pace to become the second-fastest player in major league history to reach the 2,000-hit plateau. Al Simmons did it in 1,390 games while Suzuki has played in 1,391."

Does this page (http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/6615/news;_ylt=AsOTzws.6iyyeylLX5SoxvqFCLcF) qualify as a source? Ikilled007 (talk) 14:59, 6 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
