Doubtful statements

[edit]

"several acres" of cropland lost? 2.4 acres = 1 hectare. That would hardly be newsworthy!

With water as far as the eye can see, there must be hundreds thousands hectares of cropland drowned. Do the math. The Koshi's record flow is roughly 25,000 cubic meters/second. Even if it's only flowing at 10,000 this time, that will put one hectare a meter deep per second. That's 86,400 hectares every 24 hours, and this flood started on August 18. "The nexus of the Bihar Flood is the Koshi River's immense alluvial fan extending some 180 km from the river's exit from the Himalayas and foothills in Nepal down to its confluence with the Ganges in Bihar." - What is the meaning of 'nexus' over here ? Tttyyyuuu (talk) 19:08, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It means center, core, the essential thing to be understood. LADave (talk) 07:57, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Displaced

[edit]

Is it possible to have an estimate of people displaced by the flooding in the infobox? 86.44.24.95 (talk) 09:52, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

September Flooding

[edit]

Priority of discussion of "Rhino" deaths over human death and displacement seems incorrect. I suggest also the use of Rhinoceros over the abbreviated "Rhino". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 165.157.85.65 (talk) 17:21, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
