The article on Sati (practice) calls it an "obsolete Hindu funeral custom", so it seems appropriate. Though the article claims it was not unique to Hinduism. It mentions the custom being used in Sikhism, Jainism, and even an Islamic community in Bihar.
In Sikhism's case, it mentions the case of the death of Raja Suchet Singh in 1844. To honor him, "310 women committed sati". Dimadick (talk) 20:54, 15 December 2016 (UTC)
