Query Syria template message[edit]

The Great Rift Valley is not within the scope of Syria, but vice versa: Syria is within the scope of the Great Rift Valley. Rexparry sydney 01:08, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Problem: Putting Category:Great Rift Valley in Category:Landforms of X,Y,Z creates nonsense[edit]

I was led here by the discovery that Zacchaeus, tax collector of ancient Jericho was listed in a subcategory of the completely unrelated Category:Democratic Republic of the Congo. The reason is that Jericho is categorised as a city in the Great Rift Valley, and the GRV is categorised as a Landform of the DR Congo. Hence everything in category Jericho is in category DR Congo. This geographical nonsense is propagated over and over again: any article in the category of a city in the GRV gets put in the category of all countries of which the GRV is a category. The error is that the GRV is not logically a sub-category of Landforms of DR Congo, the GRV is the larger thing of which part of the landforms of DR Congo are but a small component. I think GRV should be taken out of the categories of the type 'Category:Landforms of (Name of Country)', but I can't readily see how to link the GRV and the landforms of the constituent countries and hope someone else might have an idea. I'm not sure that there is a better way of doing this, and I believe that the problems you describe are endemic to the entire category structure at AP. Cheers, TewfikTalk 03:03, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Problem category[edit]

Why is this cosidered a "Problem category"? Mattisse (Talk) 23:16, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There does not seem to be a reason why this is considered a problem category so I removed the tag. Mattisse (Talk) 19:24, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
