Yamamae Station (山前駅, Yamamae-eki) a railway station in the city of Ashikaga, Tochigi, Japan, operated by the East Japan Railway Company (JR East).

Lines

Yamamae Station is served by the Ryōmō Line, and is located 42.7 km (26.5 mi) from the starting point of the line at Oyama, and 49 km (30 mi) from Takasaki. The preceding station of Ashikaga is 4.5 km (2.8 mi) away and the following station of Omata is 4.6 km (2.9 mi) away.

Yamamae Station has a single side platform and a single island platform connected to the station building by a footbridge. The station is unnamed with a simple Suica ticket gate, a ticket vending machine and has no accessibility features.[1]

History

The station opened on 1 April 1897. With the privatization of JNR on 1 April 1987, the station came under the control of JR East.

The station started accepting Suica cards on November 18, 2001.[3] On 1 March 2019, the station became unmanned.

Passenger statistics

In fiscal 2017, the station was used by an average of 873 passengers daily (boarding passengers only).[4] Since 2018, JR East has not reported the passenger numbers for Yamamae Station.
