Adewale Ayuba for 6/2019 blitz
[edit]I just finished editing Adewale Ayuba for the blitz, and I was wondering...
- If anyone could quickly check my work, as this is my first time participating in a blitz, and...
- At least before editing, this article seemed in violation of WP:SOAP. While I did try to change it to a more neutral viewpoint (removing sentences like "If Bubble was tremendous success, Buggle D was a run-way success"), a lot of of the awards, etc. are still lacking in any references (at least from what that I could find) and a lot of the content still seems promotional. Any thoughts on this?

- Looks good, although more can be done. The DOB shouldn't have an ordinal suffix (should be May 6, 1966, although most Nigerian articles use dmy dates), and "Local Musical Competitions" should not be capitalized. Thanks for tagging a claim requiring a citation, but the guidelines for BLPs are strict; unsourced material requiring a citation should be removed rather than tagged, so feel free to remove unsourced promotional content. Thanks for your help; have fun and all the best, Miniapolis 22:36, 16 June 2019 (UTC)
- Got it. One slightly problematic concern this raises, though, is that this article is almost completely lacking in sources. Currently, the entire biography section is unsourced (and as far as I can find, there are no sources backing up the claims other than those have have near word-for-word copied WP's article. I was able to find and add two sources to the article, however the only other two sources are relating to minor facts about his childhood, and one of those is now a broken link and results in a 404. So really there was only 1 valid source beforehand, and the vast majority of the article is still unsourced. How does the BLP policy apply in this case? (Thanks for the cookies, by the way :) I hadn't seen any of those WP-namespace articles before, and the editor's index looks particularly useful.) Robotxlabs (talk) 23:40, 16 June 2019 (UTC)
- You're right; the sourcing is poor, but it's already tagged with {{BLPrefimprove}}. You could check to see if the subject meets WP:SINGER (judging by the present sources, they don't), and see WP:BEFORE if you're thinking of nominating the page for deletion. All the best, Miniapolis 00:35, 18 June 2019 (UTC)
- @Miniapolis: Well, nevermind then. This certainly changes things quite a bit. Should've checked that out before giving it a c/e. Will take appropriate action later today. Would that go to Speedy Deletion?
- Hi @Robotxlabs: That's a mirror of this site. It's not a copyvio. I made the same mistake. Orville1974 (talk) 13:44, 21 June 2019 (UTC)
- Oh, whoops. That makes a lot of sense. Thanks @Orville1974:.
