Assyriska Föreningen - world club champions (U11)

I think you'll find this interesting. User Johan Elisson has deleted this section [1], saying in comment "Youth tournaments are not notable enough to be included".
I disagree with him. Gothia Cup is a big event (World Cup for clubs, categories from U11-U19), and winning the cup is a big success.
Fact that the winner is an immigrant squad, possibly the best success that any Assyrian football squad ever had (am I wrong?), gives the "weight" to this case.
So, I believe this should stay on that page, and I believe that that success should have a place on this WikiProject.

Assyrian-related article up for deletion

Not sure if there is a better place to put this, but Obelit Yadgar is up for deletion. Many people here in Chicagoland were great fans of his radio programs. Novickas (talk) 18:27, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

Whats the reason behind the deletion? Chaldean (talk) 00:53, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

Project categories

I have nominated several of this project's maintenance categories for renaming (a minor change). The discussion is located here and comments are welcome. –Black Falcon (Talk) 03:24, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

arc.wiki.x.io

Can you explain if arc.wiki.x.io is in modern-day Syrian/Assyrian/Syriac/Neo-Aramaic language or in antique Aramaic? On the Main Page it says "Aramaic" in several languages, and I have learned to associate that with the old version of the language. If you're able to write in this language, could you perhaps write a short translation of Assyriska Föreningen there? According to the Swedish Wikipedia, the name is written arc:ܐܣܣܝܪܝܣܟܐ in Assyrian. I think that an article on this topic can help this Wikipedia to gain more interest. --LA2 (talk) 12:55, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

Yes it is the modern-day language. The language is called Syriac or Aramaic or Assyrian - it has alot of different names, but we agreed on Aramaic simply because; In the most strict form, Syriac is a reference to classical Aramaic, that was used centuries ago, and Assyrian wasn't choosen for political reasons. Any requests for writing Aramaic pages, etc, should be directed to User:334, as he spends alot fo time with Aramaic Wikipedia. Chaldean (talk) 13:42, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for answering! I don't speak Syriac, obviously. But I'm on the board of Wikimedia Sverige, the Swedish chapter of the Wikimedia Foundation, trying to promote Wikipedia within the country of Sweden, which doesn't necessarily mean in the Swedish language. There are a lot of Assyrians in Sweden. Do you have any ideas or suggestions on how I should go about to get them involved? On Wikipedia:WikiProject Assyria a few participants are listed with the Swedish flag, but at least one of them (EliasAlucard) was permanently blocked (both here and on the Swedish language Wikipedia) because he couldn't behave. Apparently I need to reach not just any Assyrians, but those who are literate in Syriac and computer literate and willing. Can someone help me with a Syriac translation of our brochure? --LA2 (talk) 17:20, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
Yes, Elias was very helpful when it came for these kinds of situations. We have three active Assyrian speaking users who also happens to be from Sweden - User:WestAssyrian, User:AramaeanSyriac, User:The TriZ. As you can see here User_talk:WestAssyrian#Cooperation - they are very fluint in Swedish and you shouldn't have a problem cooperating with them. I advice you however to keep an eye on POV pushing from all three users, as all of them are nationalist and have their own agenda (which isn't always a bad thing.) These guys known everything about the Assyrian Swedish community, so they should be very helpful to you. Chaldean (talk) 20:24, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
As far as for Syriac translation of our brochure - I don't see a brochure, I only see an image, so where is the brochure? Chaldean (talk) 20:25, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
As always with PDF files on Wikimedia Commons, you click the PDF filename under the Adobe "A" logotype. --LA2 (talk) 02:13, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
Oh boy, I thought it was only a single sentence. This is more comprehensive then I thought, so I'm going to put in a request to User:334. Chaldean (talk) 03:56, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
Another Swedish Assyrian is User:Assyria 90, who wrote arc.wiki's article on Sweden, arc:ܣܘܝܕ, probably the best article in that entire Wikipedia. --LA2 (talk) 11:44, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Changes to the WP:1.0 assessment scheme

As you may have heard, we at the Wikipedia 1.0 Editorial Team recently made some changes to the assessment scale, including the addition of a new level. The new description is available at WP:ASSESS.

  • The new C-Class represents articles that are beyond the basic Start-Class, but which need additional references or cleanup to meet the standards for B-Class.
  • The criteria for B-Class have been tightened up with the addition of a rubric, and are now more in line with the stricter standards already used at some projects.
  • A-Class article reviews will now need more than one person, as described here.

Each WikiProject should already have a new C-Class category at Category:C-Class_articles. If your project elects not to use the new level, you can simply delete your WikiProject's C-Class category and clarify any amendments on your project's assessment/discussion pages. The bot is already finding and listing C-Class articles.

Please leave a message with us if you have any queries regarding the introduction of the revised scheme. This scheme should allow the team to start producing offline selections for your project and the wider community within the next year. Thanks for using the Wikipedia 1.0 scheme! Articles flagged for cleanup

Currently, 488 articles are assigned to this project, of which 131, or 26.8%, are flagged for cleanup of some sort. (Data as of 14 July 2008.) Are you interested in finding out more? I am offering to generate cleanup to-do lists on a project or work group level. See User:B. Wolterding/Cleanup listings for details. More than 150 projects and work groups have already subscribed, and adding a subscription for yours is easy - just place the following template on your project page:

If you want to respond to this canned message, please do so at my user talk page; I'm not watching this page. --B. Wolterding (talk) 16:09, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

Wikipedia 0.7 articles have been selected for Assyrian

Wikipedia 0.7 is a collection of English Wikipedia articles due to be released on DVD, and available for free download, later this year. The Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team has made an automated selection of articles for Version 0.7.

We would like to ask you to review the articles selected from this project. These were chosen from the articles with this project's talk page tag, based on the rated importance and quality. If there are any specific articles that should be removed, please let us know at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.7. You can also nominate additional articles for release, following the procedure at Wikipedia:Release Version Nominations.

A list of selected articles with cleanup tags, sorted by project, is available. The list is automatically updated each hour when it is loaded. Please try to fix any urgent problems in the selected articles. A team of copyeditors has agreed to help with copyediting requests, although you should try to fix simple issues on your own if possible.

We would also appreciate your help in identifying the version of each article that you think we should use, to help avoid vandalism or POV issues. These versions can be recorded at this project's subpage of User:SelectionBot/0.7. We are planning to release the selection for the holiday season, so we ask you to select the revisions before October 20. At that time, we will use an automatic process to identify which version of each article to release, if no version has been manually selected. Thanks! Syriac text

Would you look at Image:-universalsyriacscout.png and see if you can make out what it says? It probably says something like "Be Prepared", or "Always Prepared", and I have need of the text. Thank you! Chris (クリス • フィッチ) (talk) 15:51, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
