During this project, students will be participating in the Art+Feminism campaign (artandfeminism.org), which aims to improve coverage of cis and transgender women, non-binary folks, feminism and the arts on Wikipedia.
Students will meet with GSS and Art +Design Librarian, Arielle Cohen, for two library sessions. In the first library session, students will learn more about editing Wikipedia from a feminist perspective and develop sound research strategies for finding, evaluating, and using biographical sources. In the second online library session, students will edit the Wikipedia articles of the artist they have chosen based on individual research they’ve done on a particular cis or transgender woman and/or gender/sexual minority artist of their choice.
The final assignment for this project will be the following:
Add at least 3 sentences to an assigned article, and cite each statement to a reliable source (it can be the same source for all three sentences). Add at least 2 additional citations to existing statements in the assigned article
