General description: This course will focus broadly on the anatomy of the nervous system. Most of the focus will be on the central nervous system, but peripheral systems will also be discussed. A major goal of the course is to supplement instruction on structural neuroanatomy with a strong functional component. The course will also include the discussion of techniques and strategies that are used in research aimed at exploring neurobiology. This course is designed for graduate students participating in biomedical research programs.
Learning objectives: By the end of the semester, students will 1) be familiar with the basic neuroanatomy 2) be able to relate structure and function
WikiEdu Assignment: Students will be asked to identify rare neurological disorders that are not represented on Wikipedia. The assignment will consist of writing a new article. Students can choose to edits an existing article; however, this will be allowed only if substantial editing is required.
