Welcome to the 150th edition of The Bugle, and the ninth for 2018!
To mark the 150th edition of this newsletter, we've interviewed three former editors of The Bugle. We'd also really really appreciate your reflections on this milestone, and suggestions for how The Bugle could be further developed.
TomStar81 brings us two articles this month: an op-ed covering the downfall of European monarchies at the end of World War I, and what must be one of the final instalments of his vast timeline of the war.
Turning to our regular features, the article news section covers four FAs and seven A-class articles promoted in September. The book reviews section includes an assessment of a book on how militaries have used "substandard" manpower, as well as some recent reviews of military history books published elsewhere.
In other news, the MilHist FA, A-class, GA and peer reviews for July–September have been tallied. Peacemaker67, Nikkimaria and Gog the Mild headed the list with 50, 38 and 24 reviews respectively. Five other editors reviewed 15 or more articles. You can find the names of everyone who contributed here. Thanks to everyone who pitched in to keep our assessment processes moving, and to all who helped tally the reviews.
Elections for the XVIII Coordinator Tranche concluded on 29 September. Peacemaker67 was elected as Lead Coordinator, his first time at the helm after serving four terms as a Coordinator. Nine other Coordinators were also elected, including two editors new to the job: Arius1998 and Kges1901. Congratulations to all the new tranche, and thank you to everyone who voted!
TomStar81 was unanimously appointed as our third Coordinator Emeritus as part of the Coordinator election. He joins Kirill Lokshin and Roger Davies, who were appointed in 2008 and 2009 respectively.

Interested in contributing? |
All members of the project are very welcome to contribute to The Bugle. If you're interested in contributing to a future edition, material can be posted directly via the newsroom. If you'd prefer to draft material in your user space, the editors would be pleased to copy it across when it's ready. Contributions can be entire articles (for instance, an op-ed), or shorter material such as an entry for the project news page or a review.
Please contact either of the editors if you'd like to discuss an idea for an article, seek feedback on a draft, or have any questions. If you're looking for inspiration or models of previous articles to base a contribution on, there's lots of ideas in previous editions which can be accessed via the archives.
