Wikipedia:WikiProject Eurovision/Sources

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
[edit]

The fundamental principles by which Wikipedia operates can be summarized in "Five Pillars", the second of which is sourcing.

Second pillar
Wikipedia is written from a neutral point of view: We strive for articles that document and explain the major points of view, giving due weight with respect to their prominence in an impartial tone. We avoid advocacy and we characterize information and issues rather than debate them. In some areas there may be just one well-recognized point of view; in others, we describe multiple points of view, presenting each accurately and in context rather than as "the truth" or "the best view". All articles must strive for verifiable accuracy, citing reliable, authoritative sources, especially when the topic is controversial or a living person. Editors' personal experiences, interpretations, or opinions do not belong.

Below is a list of Eurovision-related websites that provide Eurovision news. This list can be reviewed at any given time to help maintain credibility of each website, and thus provide a helpful reference guide to project members and newcomers when it comes to deciding which sources are more reliable than others. Please note that this section is not updated on a regular basis, new sources that are deemed reliable may not have been added at this present time. If in doubt, check a few articles to see if a particular website has been used before and feel free to discuss additions on the talk page.

Wikipedia editors have also compiled a list of online newspaper archives which WikiProject Eurovision members are also able to review and utilise when editing articles as they see fit. WikiProject Eurovision members can also find a trove of information through the Wayback Machine and other archival websites (also see Help:Using the Wayback Machine), with many documents and pages from previous versions of the official Eurovision website available through this tool (see here).
